This was our 7th stay at the this resort and we will continue going back. The view, the pool, the beach, the food, the rooms, everything is exceptional. The staff top it off - so welcoming, helpful and genuine. While many people help make our stay so great, Fernanda at the front desk makes us feel welcome right from the start and Raul at the pool is one of the hardest workers who will go out of his way to make your day.

Recently got back from a six-day vacation for my wife's 40th and wanted to share our experience at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa for anyone looking to book there. For some context, we booked the trip through Costco Travel and it included ground transportation (private van) from the airport to the hotel, accommodations, and some other goodies (Costco gift card, resort fee credit, etc). PROS -Amazing views -Great pool + swim-up bar -Great location very close to the Marina; we liked Mr. Cream, Sonora Prime, and La Terrazza di Roma the best. Fajita Banana was only OK. -Private, walkable beach -Well-landscaped -Generally very clean (some of the interior spaces that featured tropical plants near the elevator bank seemed dirty and not maintained) -Concierge, hotel staff generally very friendly -Ice cream/crepe station was a nice feature near concierge CONS -Inconsistent service; there were times we had great servers who were friendly, proactive, and efficient. The hotel, specifically cleaning staff and servers near the pool seemed understaffed. We would often wait 20+ minutes to be seen by a server to order food or drinks by the pool. It was easier for us to go the bar directly to order. Maybe it was because they were understaffed or maybe because the training wasn't up to par with other, similar resorts we've stayed at. We felt we had to be more aggressive reaching out for things that we wanted. One day, the cleaning staff didn't arrive to change the room and we were completely out of towels and new linens by 3pm. Luckily, after a call to the front desk they sent a crew up within 30 minutes and we waited at the bar while they worked. -The food is not very good. We had the best luck with the morning breakfast (we mixed up the full buffet with ala carte orders), the ceviche bar, and Nosh (small bites by the pool). A lot of the dishes were bland, uninspired, and under-seasoned. We did read a lot of reviews prior saying this was the case so we felt empowered to leave the resort for other options. We did not try the Champions Sports Bar or Mikado (sushi/Japanese) so I cannot comment on those directly. -Similarly, the drinks are only OK (shocker, I know!). We stayed away from some of the more popular, sugar-y drinks and opted for icebergs (Mexican beer w/ frozen margarita on top), mojitos, and mimosas. -The signage could be much better. It's not a large resort by any means but they could have improved this a bit. -It was my understanding that there was only one restroom accessible via the pool/beach area. It was kind of a pain to have seats near the Nosh Bar then have to walk all the way over to the other side of the pool rather than having a restroom situated by the pool staff station. -Beach towels were rationed by the pool staff (you had to give them your room #) and on our last full day they straight up ran out of towels and told us we had to wait at least an hour for more. Other resorts had multiple carts around the pool for easy access. -Activities were pretty lack-luster; the activity list was hard to read and even when there was something on the schedule, it wasn't really advertised or promoted by hotel staff. The water aerobics class started 20 minutes late and the speaker was popping/cracking the entire time which was distracting for everyone.

I would have expected better upkeep from the Westin. The paint around the balconies is splattered on the glass and over sprayed two colors like a child painted the building. The rooms are extremely dark. Not enough lighting, especially in the bathrooms. No outlet in the bathroom, so you’ll be drying your hair in the main room. There’s a glass partition for the toilet that my mother bumped into many times because there’s not ample lighting. The decor is 1980s, including brown tile floors. We travelled with 9 people and on day 3, 5 of us got horribly ill. Stomach issues. Severe vomiting. We had to call for a doctor, who was very nice and administered injections for nausea. $225 per shot but we had little choice. Some of the staff are very accommodating, including the wait staff, cleaners, and some front desk personnel. If I had to return to MX, I’d choose the Hilton Cabo over this any day.

We definitely chose the perfect location to celebrate our 43rd anniversary. I communicated with Gabriela Cordero as we were planning our vacation and she sure came through. We appreciated the Anniversary decor, champagne and the chocolate covered strawberries to welcome us for our 12 day stay. It was great see familiar faces poolside. Silvestre Rodriguez and his team members Bibi and Nataly always greeted us with a smile and quick conversation in the morning. They also decorated our cabana for our anniversary. I feel like they are old friends and it is great seeing them again. Our mornings started off with omlettes by Andrea and of course Mickie Mouse pancakes for my husband. We were graciously served usually by Reyna or Jorge. Its the wonderful people at the Marriott that make you feel so welcomed and wanting to continue returning year after year. Thank you to Fernanda Coronel, front desk supervisor for the upgraded room on our last 4 days. Ulises Amaxal, Concierge assigned us to the most amazing suite which made our anniversary celebration one that will be hard to top! We enjoyed the beautiful views, sunning on our deck and relaxing in the hot tub. We truly felt special on our last days. It was very hard to leave these wonderful accommodations. The location of the Marriott is the best is our opinion being close to the airport, walking distance to the marina and a quick Uber ride to the Malecon or Romantic zone. Upon arrival you make always greeted by the valet or bellman welcoming you home. The Marriott Puerto Vallarta definitely treats your loyalty and your Titanium Elite status to,the fullest. We are already planning our return visit in 2025!

I just came home after a week stay at this beautiful resort . It had so much more to offer than I had anticipated. From the gorgeous oceanfront room to the awesome restaurants. The service here is top notch . A special shout out to Ulises Ruiz in concierge for help in upgrading my room . Also the room was cleaned daily and when I say clean I mean it — our housekeeper Sandra was meticulous and took a lot of pride in her work . This was the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in . Looking forward to visiting again soon

Best view of infinity pool/ocean, big lobby, lots of comfy sitting places, one big pool, most of the rooms have ocean view, balcony, gorgeous hotel. it’s not all inclusive but there is a meal plan for purchase ($160 usd per person per day). Beds are comfy but small. We had a room with two beds. Two skinny people could hardly fit on one bed. One HUGE complaint we have is the food price and quality. We tried the chicken tenders w fries. Chicken was disgusting. it wasn’t real chicken, it was like eating some mushy soft thing with crispy exterior. Such a great disappointment for a place like Marriott. It was very expensive as well.

This was our fourth visit to this property. Overall it continues to deliver, but some tweaks would enhance the experience. First, the walk-in for coffee and breakfast sandwiches/pastries could expand the food offerings. Next, it’s time to replace some of the pool umbrellas. Several are barely operable. (Poolside food is good, and Antonio and Ernesto deserve a special shout-out for engaging and excellent service.) Finally, the fitness center needs updating. The machines and equipment are dated. One last comment: While not unique to this property, the resort fee is nothing more than a room rate surcharge. They tout bikes as a benefit, but the roads from the hotel aren’t conducive to bike traffic.

We stayed for nearly a week for a work conference. I was surprised to find so many guests that have returned for multiple years to this exact resort. We loved the location so close to the airport but airport noise did not impact our fun. The pool was beautiful and had so many chairs. Lovely beach front views. All the restaurants were delicious and had a great variety (Mexican, American sports bar, japenese hibachi), and lots of tequila drink opportunities. Easy walk to a local boat marina with even more restaurant opportunities. Went most days to the gym which was well appointment and also well used, had to wait to use some of the equipment. The spa was nice, expensive, and just nice. The website should offer more information about what it had to offer. The sauna was not hot when I tried to use it. All the staff were unbelievable personable, spoke English very well and very helpful in the entire resort. The room itself was very clean but small. Our room had an ocean view with a small balcony. I never really solved how to dry the bathing suits (or work out clothes) each day in a tropical location. I didn't give it 5 stars because I have absolutely NO complaints, it was not just an incredible resort. We are Marriott people and it was absolutely a wonderful Marriott experience.

We absolutely love PV, the Marriott has always been our favorite place to stay. From the moment we arrive all the bellman are always there with a warm welcome and of course a tremendous help with all of our luggage. A special shout out to Daniel, Ramon, Adrian, Guillermo, Santiago, Ramiro and Noe, for helping us with so many things from luggage to taxis almost every night. We can’t thank you enough for all your help. Once we settle in and get to the pool Javier was so great with helping us with chairs, towels and umbrellas. Our days at the pool are always so enjoyable because of the wonderful service provided by Richard, Raul, Carlos, Armondo and Ernesto. They are all so friendly and make us feel welcomed every year. We look forward to seeing them year after year. They go above and beyond to make are pool days great. Also the food runner Isreal is a wiz, he is so quick and efficient. The manager of Mikado and Cerviche bar, Audrey is such a hard working lady, she is amazing. Our breakfast is so enjoyable everyday. Andrea always has a smile on her face, never gets frazzled as she is making you a delicious omelet, or chocolate chip Mickey Mouse pancakes, or a waffle, our husbands always tease us that we need to watch and learn from her. She is absolutely amazing! The service at the tables is incredible with Manuel, Roberto, Juan and Yamil, they all make sure we have hot coffee and everything and anything we need. Our room was so nice and clean everyday by Ruby, she did an excellent job. At the Cerviche bar at night, Daniel was terrific, very attentive. We were extremely happy with the staff at the hotel, as always, however we have seen some changes with the hotel, not really sure what is going on. We truly would hate to stay anywhere else, but the room prices have been increasing so much every year that we may have to. Hopefully we will be able to stay again next year, as the Marriott feels like home.

We always enjoy our stay at the Marriott. From the minute we pull up, Ramon always greets us with the best smile, and a kind helping hand! Like seeing family again! Santiago, Ramiro, Guillermo & Noe are the best bellman to help w/ car service or any of our needs. Nelida took care of our room and it was always spot less and fully stocked for us to enjoy! Our pool days were beyond relaxing, especially when we have Richard taking care of us! He goes above and beyond to make our stay that much more enjoyable! From drink & food suggestions to speedy service, he's the best by far! We enjoyed anything we ordered. Meals came fresh, quick & hot! We also love Raul(very funny) Ernesto(Woody), Armondo & food runner Israel is running that pool like crazy! He's speedy Gonzales for sure! And always with a big smile! Javier was very helpful with chairs, extra towels or an umbrella! They're all just great guys! Esmeralda was superb and always helpful setting up all of our dinner reservations or anything we needed help with, she’s great! Breakfast at La Estancia we enjoyed immensely. Andrea is not only a fabulous cook, from her omelettes, eggs, French toast & pancakes, but we’re always greeted with a smile and she does it all effortlessly! Our servers Juan, Manuel, Roberto & Yamil were kind & attentive always. We also enjoyed breakfast a few times in La Casitas. Warren is always there to help make sure all is in place and our servers were always kind and attentive. What can be wrong with that view while enjoying our morning meal! Ceviche bar wasn’t always so great as far as service, sometimes we waited for long periods w/ no help. Except when Audrey was there and Daniel too, they’re both great! We enjoy the bands in Champions too. Always fun Friday nights there! And service is attentive. Loved our meal at Mikado and our chef was talented, fun and a great cook! Our server was very good as well. We got a peek at the new room updates on the 4th floor and they look very nice! The smoking area isn’t well cared for at all, as well as the area around it. In the past there was always someone caring for the grounds around that area and that doesn’t seem to be the case as much anymore. And a lil scary to go out there at night. Need something more secure within the grounds. We didn’t see as many regulars as we have in the past and ran into to few while out & about and was sad to hear that most left b/c they weren’t treated w/ the same respect or for their loyalty. Imo never bite the hand that feeds you. Not the best look to other regulars. Hearing that the hotel is going all-inclusive, we’re not happy about at all and spoke to many of the regulars and they said the same, and that would unfortunately leave us out. There are way too many incredible restaurants around PV that we thoroughly enjoy and would never want to stop going to them. Especially love being involved in the culture and to encounter more of the fabulous Mexican people! They’re all too kind.
