Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I used to recommend VDP PV to any and all that would listen. I feel like we've raised my daughter around the property. This marked our sixth year visiting for three weeks, and was something we looked forward to since our last visit in 2023. We have made so many great friends between fellow guests and staff, but so much has changed in the past year, that we would be hard pressed to return. I understand demolition is slated to start on Del Mar on April 1 (though there are no signs of it as of March 14), but they seemingly stopped maintaining the other buildings and grounds as well as they had previously. One of the elevators in building three was our of service for the majority of our stay, the elevator in building 4/5 needs serious repairs. Our room, 3724 had a leak in one of the bathrooms (photos attached) and it took two days to repair, meanwhile a mysterious yellow liquid was dripping from the ceiling. We also noticed that other small details are not longer being as well maintained, from broken tiles in the kitchenette, to well worn furniture, bathroom counters and tables. I strongly feel this has also extended to housekeeping and cleaning of high touch surfaces. Our room housekeeper was excellent, but around the rest of the property things are not being cleaned as well. Three of the eight in our party contracted pink eye, four of us came down with a nasty flu, and all of us felt congested when in our room, but not wen outside (is there mold in the walls or ceiling?). The property is really promoting their all-inclusive packages, and they must be succeeding because we've never seen the number of guests eating and drinking both in and around the pool. In past years this was discouraged, but the staff now turns a blind eye, and unfortunately more than a few drinks and plates were over turned into the main pool. It's also an entirely different atmosphere for families (loud bluetooth speakers, lots of drinking and antics). Another sign of the deferred maintenance is that the pump for the waterslide and waterfall in the main pool was broken for two days of our stay. The staff remain excellent, so many great wait, activity and front of house staff. Ebierto, Monse, Jose and the list goes on. It's a pleasure to seem them every year and we will miss them dearly if we don't return, or they cannot weather the lengthy possible upcoming period of construction. There is a lot of uncertainty moving forward (will/when construction happen, how will that affect the property and various amenities?) What will the new towers look like, will the roof top pool truly only be for VIP/Gold members? You can sense change is in the air and the magic of a family friendly resort is surely being lost. I would encourage you to read current reviews before booking moving forward past April of 2024 as your stay will surely be different from those who left positive reviews previously.

Ian, the guy with the boogie boards, was awesome. He was always super friendly and kind. And, even though he spoke flawless English, he let me practice my spanish. It wasfun to watch him him help all the older people get out of the tide. He was very patient with everyone.

We ate at the Japanese restaurant on site and it was amazing. Service was great, food was fantastic. We were served by Jesus and Ricardo, we weren’t sure about a couple of the menu items, so they helped us out. It was one of the best meals I have ever had. I’m just not happy that our last night at the resort was that restaurants turn to be closed. We really wanted to eat there again. Next year I guess.

I did not enjoy my stay here at all. I am not a member but a family member is. I paid a lot to rent a studio and did not do the all inclusive. I paid way more than I should have. The studio is what we call in Canada a room with a kitchenette. This place is so expensive for drinks and meals. The glasses for drinks are so small (10 oz) and by the time you put (supposedly an oz of liquor), which I doubted, ice and whatever in it you couldn't tell if there was liquor in it. The price ranged from $145-195 pesos. I was never charged the same price twice. There is absolutely nothing to do on this resort. It literally shuts down at 10:00pm every night. If you're a middle aged person don't bother, unless this is up your alley. There's mostly people in their 80's and up or very young families that stay here. Nothing against older people but seriously they cater to the elderly. Especially shutting down the resort by 10:00. And I'm not kidding when I say this. Lights out too. I got kicked out of the hot tub three times at 10:00. It was the only place to talk and meet people at night. The bars also close then. I was so bored staying here. They had a band one night out of the two weeks I stayed here from 7:00-9:00. They were good. They have a warm shallow pool that all the elderly people complained to me about because it always had lots of kids in it. They have a kids pool but parents don't use it. So until they put up a sign adults only this will continue. That kind of sucked as we were dealing with kids running in the pool and jumping and splashing. The only thing they care about at this resort is if you are a member as in buying into a timeshare. Be prepared they attack you as soon as you check in. I had no clue. The girl told me to go to breakfast with my family member cause he had to attend a meeting. That's the way it was presented to me. The day of, they took my family member in a separate cab. I couldn't believe it. So I was all alone to another hotel about an hour away. I can't even describe the nightmare I went through on this. I was there all day waiting for my family in the lobby. A whole day waisted and never saw my family till they were done at 4:30 We went at 8:00 in the morning. I was frantic. So beware. Oh also this resort charges as resort fee for everyday that you're there for nonmembers. They never told me and said it was on the confirmation notice. Well I pulled it up and asked the girl to show me where that was and she couldn't find it. So no I was not told about the resort fee. An extra $105 on my tab that I had to pay. Brutal, and when I asked the front desk after a week what that charge was they told me it was tax. So the staff don't even know what they are doing. On checkout day I paid my bill and the front desk is supposed to give you a checkout card. They never did with me or my family, So they summoned me to the front desk and said I still owed 160 pesos. I showed them my proof that my bill was paid and that I didn't owe anything. After I found out the price of things I never bought another thing in that hotel. So basically trying to scam more money out of me. I created quite a ruckus at the front and they finally gave me my checkout card. The staff don't have a clue. So absolutely will NEVER return to this resort EVER!!!!!

Perfecf budget-friendly vacation. Beautiful beach with great swimming and lots of activities to choose from, including kayaking and paddle boarding! Tons of pools and jacuzzis to enjoy. We didn’t choose the all-inclusive option and don’t regret that decision at all. There are lots of nice restaurants within walking-distance from the resort which offer much cheaper and higher-quality food. Overall, great experience and would come back!

This review is only for the Activities Team not the rest of the resort. Ian is top notch. He was there for us every morning so we could go out kayaking or paddle boarding. He helped us into the ocean and carried the boards for us. He always had a smile on his face. Tino was also great. He had us on the paddle boards in the pool to make sure we were ready for the ocean swells and chop.

The resort is very clean. The quality of the food and drinks were excellent! We were there for two weeks and never tired of it. The staff were friendly, respectful, happy and very accommodating. Hugo, Veronica and Etelvina were exceptional at breakfast. Jesus and Fernando provided excellent service at the Sports Bar!

We spent 14 days here from end of Feb to March 13 and had an awesome time with two other couples. Food is great with breakfast buffet and other meals are order off a menu. We never got tired of the food. Servers are great especially Hugo, Etelvina and Veronica. We ate at the Sports Bar several times and Asus and Fernando took good care of us. The cleaning staff was great and crews that do the outside work are always cleaning everything and making sure everything is tidy. The bartender, Caesar, was great with all the drinks.

My wife and I spent 3 great weeks at Villa Dal Palmar Puerto. The best part of the resort is the fabulous weather which is consistent and the wonderful staff. In particular we have to single out Magali and her team Ramon and Julio. They were very professional. The serving staff is the best. We had breakfast every morning and were served by Hugo, Etelvina, Celestino, Eriberto and Ignacio. They were terrific. The superstars however are 2 young ladies with million dollar smiles. Veronica and Miranda. Thank you to all! JUANITA AND ERNESTO (When in Mexico)

Staff were excellent, Leo and Daniel made our trip extra special. They did seem a bit understaffed at time. Service can be quite slow. Overall decent stay however, we reserved a two bedroom two bathroom suite and upon arriving were quickly informed that there is no such accommodations at this location. We had to stay into separate rooms, which completely defeated the purpose of our trip when traveling with friends.
