I've stayed at Casa Bertha no fewer than ten times over the past thirteen years. I've never been disappointed. Due to the 17mx peso in 2016, my $280mx figured out to about $16us per night. The view from the terrace is amazing. The jardin de la union is about a three-minute walk from CB. A produce market, bakery, laundromat, and... More

The profile photo for this hostal doesn't lie, the rooms are crowded and full of second-hand furniture thrown together. What is also important to be aware of is that Casa Bertha is not on a street, but at the top of a steep hill full of alleys and stairways. If you are travelling with luggage you are going to get... This is a delightful place. It's not a hotel, mind you, bust a guesthouse. The family lives downstairs, and are friendly and helpful. The rooms are simple, but comfortable and there is essentially no traffic noise. Our room came complete with a small, multi-lingual library. And the rooftop terrace has splendid vows over the city, once you negotiate the fun-house... More

Close to everything walking distance.Family run. Very friendly. Stayed many times last 2years. Community kitchen deck with utensils, water, stove, fridge and great views to West. Guests are always interesting here and this is a vibrant town for sure. Owner accepts checks,$,pesos, and exchanges money sometimes better than bank. 1/2 block walk in to Casa as no cars in this part of town.... More

The best thing about Mexico is its people and that is exemplified by the 3 brothers, Jesus, Jorge y Juan, who run Casa Bertha. I had just returned to Mexico and this was my first stop. I became ill immediately after arriving and, if there is an upside to that, it was their kindness and warmth. It was a bit... More

Without any reservations we checked in the Hostel. We were always welcomed and the stuff gave as useful information what do and to see in the town for the two nights we stayed. The hostel was clean and we had a private room with a shared bathroom. Top was the roof-top bar with an amazing view over the city. +Good... More

We found Casa Bertha by chance strolling around the city and it changed our trip for the best! We were able to move out of our run down, poorly managed and extremely noisy hostel into what felt like the home of a kind family friend. The price is right, the rooms are cozy (and quiet!) and the water is hot.... More

We just needed a place to stay for one night before an early morning flight out of Leon. Ordinarily we would go a little more upscale, but the rooms were clean, the price was half of what we would have paid elsewhere, and the owner/manager (sorry I didn't get his name) offered to drive us to the airport for less... We made a reservation at Casa Bertha during the Festival Cervantino. As our bus was running a few minutes late I called to confirm, that they don't give away our room and we were told, that it would be no problem they would be waiting for us. We showed up half an hour after the call and we were told,... More
