Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best thing about this hotel is the personal touch! Angel is reception was very helpful with recommendations, but all the staff is equally friendly. They readily offered help or asked if you needed anything. Our room #2 was large and beautifully appointed. This room has a wood burning fireplace, and it is needed! I had to add an electric heater to supplement since the fire only lasts a few hours, and we visited in Feb! The concrete walls and tile floor are very cold. The bed and pillows are a bit too firm for us. There are plenty of blankets though. I think other rooms have gas fireplaces which might be better in the winter months. I’m sure we could have asked for more wood, the staff is very accommodating. A stocked mini fridge is in each room, and that is handy. We are across from the reception area so you could hear people talking but it wasn’t disturbing ( unless it wakes you up.) Rooms in the back are probably more quiet. The grounds are lush and covered in flowers, and all kinds of orchids. And there is a koi pond with large fish! Plenty of outdoor sitting areas too. The included breakfast is wonderful! A great selection is available and very filling! You can walk to the pedestrian street full of shops and restaurants, which leads to the main square and cathedral. And the opposite direction is to the mirador with a beautiful view of the city. We easily found parking around the corner. For the hotel to attract and retain great employees, they ask that you leave a tip at the end of your stay to be shared amongst all the staff. You pay for your room at checkout, and the recommended tip is 8-10% of the room charge. I think that was a bit high. We stayed four nights. But it is nice that they consider all the employees. But as with socialism, all are equally rewarded even though some are more outstanding!

Guayana Inn is a converted traditional home in the historic district of El Cerrillo. It’s located in the remarkable colonial colonial San Cristobal de las Casas. There are outstanding Orchid and Bromeliad gardens surrounding the Inn’s central patio. Our room was spacious and en-suite, with minibar and free beer. The fireplace was excellent with extra logs supplies to keep us warm on the cold evenings. Breakfast was served not buffet style and was excellent. Staff friendly, professional and helpful at all times.

All staff were very helpful , friendly and accomodating, special recognition for Angel at Front desk , who went above and beyond to help us in every way. Rooms were spacious and well appointed, with fireplaces, tv, internet, wifi etc. Amazing big breakfast, with many choices served from 8-12 daily. Location was perfect close walking to all sites, restaurants etc.

Lovely interior patio, delicious breakfast. We stayed in the big room with cooper tub! Each night they lit a beautiful crackling fire in our room for warmth, which was needed! They connected us to amazing tour guide Mario, who drove us around for three days and is an encyclopedia of knowledge about Chiapas.

We went to San Cristobal for our anniversary and chose the Guayaba Inn based on reviews and we were not disappointed. First off Angel and the rest of the staff were amazing. Angel welcomed us each night and helped book us a few tours while we were in town. Trips to Canyon Sumidero and Lagunas de Montebello are definitely worth it after you have explored the town. Breakfast was included in our booking and it was absolutely delicious each morning. We felt the location was perfect as well. It's not right in the city center, but a short walk away and this was great as it was quiet at night, but for sure very easy to get to the hustle and bustle of the city center. As for the room we had room 6 and this was also amazing. The room was super cozy with a small balcony, fireplace and large bathroom. We slept very well each night. If you are thinking of travelling to San Cristobal we would highly recommend staying here. ~Brett & Adriana

Situated an easy walking distance from the town center, this delightful hotel is a must when visiting San Cristóbal. The rooms were roomy and very clean. Most importantly the beds were sleep-in comfortable and the breakfasts more than acceptable. The garden is a delight and the staff friendly and helpful to a tee. Cannot recommend this enough. Note though, you‘ll have to park on the street.

Beautiful small hotel. Delicious breakfast included. Mole is one of the best I’ve had. Outstanding service. Ten minutes walk from downtown San Cristóbal. I loved it. Definitely a place I’d stay again if I’m in town.

This is an exceptional boutique inn in SC. Walking distance to everything in a quiet neighbourhood. Spacious, beautifully decorated rooms set in a gorgeous property. Service is excellent. Great breakfasts, attention to detail. They even gifted us pox, soap and a bottle of bubbly in New Year’s Eve. Hope to come back one day. 5+ stars and beyond.

A group of friends and i spent a week in San Cris at the Guayaba Inn and we absolutely loved every moment. Beautiful rooms very well designed. Our room had a fireplace with fresh dry wood at all times which was used every evening. We had excellent breakfasts served in a pretty bright breakfast room and loved the service. Rodrigo the manager and concierge was fantastic. We loved all his restaurant suggestions and we loved his very polite and charming self. I have nothing but praise for the Inn. We will be back soon hopefully. I recommend the Guayaba Inn as the place to stay in San Cristobal.
