A warm welcome awaited us when we arrived at Casa Selah fo a week's stay while visiting friends and sightseeing in St Cristobal and surrounding areas. The staff was friendly and helpful, making us feel at home. Rooms are clean and decorated in traditional style. Second level rooms overlook the lovely garden courtyard filled with flowering plants and comfortable seating for conversation or quiet reading. Though breakfast is not provided, there is a stylish cafe/restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere next door for upscale coffees and meals. Location of the inn is easy walking distance for sightseeing but tucked away in a quiet corner of the town. A wonderful, budget-friendly place to stay in St Cristobal!
We booked for 2 nights at Casa Selah, but booked an extra night because it was a good place to stay and we enjoyed San Cristobal so much. Not everybody of the staff speaks English but everybody was very friendly and tried to understand and help us as good as they could. The room was clean and well equipped, wifi worked properly and the location is convenient. They don’t serve breakfast but you can have it in the restaurant next to it and I think you also can order breakfast there and get it served in your room, but we never did, because there are plenty of breakfastspots nearby. The hotel looks nice overall and we thought it had a nice vibe.
This place was clean, the staff was so helpful and pleasant. Couldn't have found a nicer place! We thoroughly enjoyed the landscaping. Our room was great - would absolutely stay here again.... We stayed for several nights and even added to our original plans to do so. The town is very interesting also.
We stayed at the Hotel 3 nights and we never felt welcome. 1) At our arrival, since we don't speak Spanish, we asked if possible to communicate in English. The man at the reception (I think is the owner) followed up in Spanish stating is preference for communication with local language. Afterwards we discovered by accident (man talking to other guest) that he is full English fluent. 2) We booked a day trip to Palenque for which he charged 80 pesos more than the average tourist agency price. So we will suggest to walk to the Agency and book it by yourself, is only 5 minutes away from the Hotel. 3) the room was nice but with no ventilation. All the windows were fake. 4) At the end of our stay we requested a taxi to the bus station early in the morning. The answer was if we were thinking to go to the airport by bus or by taxi. In a nutshell they were available to book for us only the most expensive taxi to the airport. The overall feeling is that was that they were trying to up sell us making some extra with any "external" service we were asking for. Ps: we got our taxi to bus station early in the morning, booked by 2 lovely guys working at the reception during the evening and night shifts. We wouldn't stay again when back to San Cristobal (beautiful city).…
We fell in love with this hotel. Had a huge and clean room and good service. They cleaned each day and we got water, coke and some coffee with cookies every day. When we had to organize a tour or when I was sick the staff helped us very kindly and warmly. We felt comfortable, like at home! Thanks a lot. Highly recommended
