I wanted a place to crash for 5 nights on my way down to Belize. I wanted to be in the jungle so I could birdwatch the whole time. I didn't want to spend any money. When I found cavelands I thought it was too good to be true but it really wasn't. It was exactly what I hoped for.... More

Wake up to the sounds of the Mexican jungle, grab a towel and amble across an ancient Mayan road to a nearby cenote (fresh water spring) clearer than any swimming pool for a swim. A short 15 minute walk further down the road and you are at the most beautiful beach in the world with water so clear that you... More

Great place off the beaten path outside of the small friendly Mayan village Chemuyil. We rented a car from the airport and zipped on down there. Cabana and surrounding jungle property were beautiful and relaxing. Slept in an Indonesian princess bed in the big cabana! Awesome beach and cenote just across the highway...head to the north end for snorkeling and... More

Don Renzo (The owner) is an awesome funny guy and he will make you feel really at home. He goes out of his way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This really is a great place to stay away from the busy areas nearby. The campfire is not to be missed.

Cavelands is a beautiful and tranquil spot in the jungle on the Caribbean coast. We stayed with some friends in the Tipi which was really great (it sleeps 4). Don Renzo is a perfect host, very welcoming and eager to help in any way he can. The whole site is incredibly well cared for, and there are so many personal... More

This place is such a welcome break from the bustling crowds at nearby hotels. The cabanas are spacious, with comfortable beds and full electricity. They are breezy (open) but completely screened in, so it really gives the effect of sleeping outside (with no bugs!). The sounds of the birds and rain are amazing to go to sleep and wake up... More
