I have been visiting the Royal Cancun for over 20 years and it feels like home when I arrive. Jeremias is always there to great us with a warm welcome- all smiles and laughter. Reynaldo was awaiting our arrival to grad our bags and made sure our room was ready. Even after our first week when we changed over, he was quick to check up on the status of our room and notify us when it was ready. Again, he was there for us to help us move our luggage to our owned weekly villa. When Reynaldo was off, Vincente was always there to help with his pleasant personality. He too is so warm and friendly.
Sheila and Jose at the front desk were wonderful, as always, and it was so nice to see familiar faces who treat their members like family. The first week we arrived as interval exchange members, and as with any resort, the II exchanges are usually given villas in the rear of the resort. However, Sheila helped keep our family as close as possible and provide us with 2 great rooms in one of the main buildings directly over the pond. One room was ready upon arrival and the 2nd not too long after.
We were quickly greeted by familiar faces, Luiz, Hector, Angel, Eder, Mario, Patricia, Alfredo, Jesus (just to name a few). I was sad to hear about the accidents with Pedro and Aaron, as we missed seeing them this year. Jorge and Carlos at the Pool bar were always there with a drink. And Eder and Angel...cant say enough about them...they knew what we drank and had it ready for us every day. They were always so pleasant and friendly; wonderful personalities...my husband and I loved laughing with them and talking about family and good times. This was the first time I met Neftali, but instantly adored him as well. Another wonderful addition to the kids pool service staff.
My kids spend a lot of time this year at the kids club. Sulma and Emily are amazing. They have a great personality to work with kids...very patient. The activities scheduled are interesting, creative, and fun. They really are dedicated to their job and the kids.
Alex, Charlie, and Elias provided excellent and fun adult/teen activities. My kids and nieces and nephews loved the canoeing, paddle boarding, pool volleyball and bingo/lotteria. Alex and Elias were a comedic duo always joking around. They were always smiling. My girls even went and bought lotteria in the gift shop because Alex and Elias made it so fun for them. I took Zumba class with Alex every Monday, Wed, and Friday. He led a great class and was always open to new ideas. Elias was still learning, but he was a great addition to the team. Again, he was always smiling and put everyone in a good mood. Thank you to Charlie for recommending canoeing and paddle boarding, as it wasn't something we originally considered doing. Raul was awesome taking my daughter, nephew, and myself out in the mini catamaran. we jumped off to swim the in crystal green. blue waters but I couldn't get back on. Raul was able to manipulate a pulley with the string to use as a makeshift ladder and helped me back on the boat while pulling me up as well. He definitely got a workout. LOL
Let me give credit to the cleaning staff who work so hard to maintain the resort. They cleaned the rooms daily and not just cleaned, actually sprayed and wiped down everything...even the bars and in between on the porch/balcony, and then sanitized with a special spray machine. This is a 5 star superb resort.
The food at the pool bar was fantastic..always a delicious meal and somethin to choose from for the entire family. The Palapa had great service . We were there every day for breakfast and had a wonderful experience with Jesus, Hector, Ramero (new addition in training) , Miguel, Olisio.and Mikay. There are so many more staff that I didn't include just because there are too many to name, but each one was superb. WE extremely enjoyed karaoke night on Monday.
La Trattoria was exquisite. THe food was amazing . We went back several times because there was so many options on the menu we wanted to try. After dinner, my husband and I would sit at the bar and talk with Antonio. He was so nice and friendly and we loved seeing him each night. I hope he stays at that location when we return next year!

So some minor tweaks that should be addressed by management. The gym only has 2 treadmills and those are often the hot equipment. There is a manual treadmill that no one uses that should be removed and replaced with an updated treadmill. Also, there is a stepped that is roped off and has been roped off from the last time we arrived, which was a year ago. Come on...get it fixed or remove it and replace with other equipment please.

Also, the wifi! Royal Resorts..Why did you change the wifi?? For years each unit had its own wifi and password and it worked perfectly. This year things changed and it was changed to a universal unsecure wifi. Was the security certificate not renewed? If you have a firewall on the computer you may not be able to log into the unsecure wifi. Also, once I connected my roku I would receive messages that someone's ipad is trying to log in and a security code would come across my screen. Not very safe at all! I also noticed on Sundays specifically, or other evenings when there was a lot of traffic the wifi wouldnt work. I would get kicked off of a device and not be able to log in until the next morning. Royal Resorts..please listen to your members and go back to the old wifi system.
All in all we had a wonderful 2 weeks stay and can't wait until next year!

We were totally thrilled with the cleanliness and service during our 4 week stay. So many workers went out of their way to assure us of having a great time.The activity staff really wanted us to have fun and Felix and Carolina made sure of that, while Fernando went above and beyond. Michelle was the sweetest concierge that helped us with reservations and questions as this was our first time at this resort and was always available. Rosario kept our room spotless and returned something to us that we had left in the room when we changed rooms. Luis did an excellent job in the restaurant and made everyone feel they deserved extra attention. One of the gardeners brought me flowers. Adrian who worked the pool assisted us with our chairs and one evening actually stopped what he was doing to take us to our friends villa when we were lost. Mauel was a very attentive waiter at the pool. And if that isn't enough to show how nice it was to stay here, every time I walked into the grocery store Maria greeted me by my name. Although there is only 2 restaurants there is a Royal Express to buy family style dinners such as whole roast chicken, BBQ ribs, fried chicken along with sides and desserts. Delicious Pizza is always available along with room service. The pools are heated, the public bathrooms are constantly cleaned, the lawns and trees are manicured and the beach has boating and other water sports, and there are no waves. Don't come here if you want a fancy fancy hotel. Come here if you want service, cleanliness, and lots of friendly people who seem to come back year after year.

My second visit to this resort and it was just as wonderful as the first. I specifically enjoy this resort because of the condo style accommodations, location and the glassy ocean conditions. Very nice beach front area with calm water, fun views of all the action, lawn chairs etc, cabana service, two pools, onsite restaurants and tourist booking office.
Elizabeth at the front desk is pure joy. She always greeted us when entered & always inquired if there was anything needed. Vicente in transportation made sure to introduce himself and greeted my wife and I when we exited or returned & always inquired as to anything that we may need. Same for Jeremias at transportation who recognized me from my last trip and welcomed me back. Lastly, a big thank you to housekeepers Josefina, Guadalupe & Veronica(?) for the Spanish lessons!
I cannot think of a single thing I would change. I see random online complaints and I really feel that if a guest has a bad experience at your resort, maybe that guest should consider if they are the problem instead of the resort. That being said, I do not book the all inclusive packages as I prefer to explore the city of Cancun and the Hotel Zone for restaurants. The condo style rooms with full kitchen are great for buying groceries for snack lunches and making your own drinks. This resort is very well maintained and whomever is hiring and training the staff should receive a hearty congratulations as the staff are some the best and well trained I've seen in my many years of traveling. I really felt like they work hard to make the guests comfortable and feel special. This is a great place to stay.

We stayed for a full week at the Royal Cancún all suites resort in Cancun with our family of four (my wife and I and our two boys ages 13 and 15). The resort itself is well maintained and has an absolutely beautiful beach that seems less crowded than many of the other resorts. However, the Sens hotel immediately next door has loud beach parties every night (there are also no less than three beer themed party pirate ships that go on a nightly dance cruise around the bay that dock a few minutes walk walk away), which ultimately makes this a less than ideal location for families or anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation. Even with the doors and windows to our suite closed we could hear the thumping beat and every word of every song. Fortunately the music mostly dies down by midnight or so.

The rooms themselves are very nice if nondescript and outdated- and very clean.

If you stay here, you can avoid the 90 minute timeshare sales process that seems to be mandatory with check in (after travel all day we just wanted to get to our room and not listen to a sales pitch) and ask you “personal concierge (ie timeshare salesperson) to take you directly to your room.

We visited The Royal Cancun in March of ‘21. The rooms are immaculate and the staff does a thorough job of cleaning. The entire resort is constantly being cleaned and sanitized and all staff wear masks. I felt very safe here. The kitchen is handy. There is a small market on the premises. I took a taxi to the local grocery store (Chedraui) to stock up for the week. We vegged on the beach for the whole trip although I did work a few days. The wifi supports Zoom calls and there is individual secure wifi per unit. The beach is long and lovely. The resort offers many free water sports and lessons. The sealife is plentiful and fun to see with snorkel gear. This is a tranquil resort that does not have loud music on the beach or by the pool. It’s not a party scene, but a lovely place to relax. There is live music at the outdoor restaurant several times a week. The pirate ships go past the resort, which is fun to watch. The staff are dedicated, friendly, and helpful. Enjoy your stay!

Went to the Royal Cancun for the first time in 17 years with my father. Our concierge Olivia was amazing and helping us set up many events that we needed done even after we switched hotels for the second week. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Yes it's smaller but it's the best one in Cancun in my opinion. The instructors who handle the water aerobics and bingo and other activities are really helpful and interested in all of the people around them. Normally I would mention how the hotel did with my service dog. well because this is a foreign country and the ADA rules don't apply I'm going to tell you that this hotel did a great job. They accepted my service dog with the paperwork that I was able to provide. They didn't harass or berate me at any point in time. The only thing they did do was charge an additional cleaning fee for the room. As for the amenities there is laundry tennis courts multiple pools and exceptional restaurants. I can't say enough nice things about the palapa restaurant and there are many food options. They do theme nights which are super fun and a lot of the time the musicians that they get to play there makes them beautiful music. another good thing about the size of this place is even if you're not eating at the restaurant you can still benefit from the ambiance by just being around. on nights at my father and I decided not to go to the restaurant we'd sit on our balcony and listen to the music it was never so loud that it was preposterous but it was also never so quiet that we couldn't enjoy it along with the gentle caress of the waves on the beach. Other benefits at this location are the pirate ships are very close so when they take off at night you actually can watch them from the beach or hear the cannons from your room. I recommend if you're coming to Cancun that you stay at the Royal Cancun because not only is the facility wonderful even during covid-19 conditions, the treatment you'll receive from the staff is beyond measure. For example when I got to Mexico my service dog needed food because I was not able to bring my food with me. Due to the fact that covid-19 was going on I asked my concierge Olivia how I could order something from Walmart and have it delivered. She took care of that for me and had it delivered directly to my room at my convenience. So when I say that the staff go above and beyond I'm not blowing smoke at you. this really is one of the best places in the world.

Hands Down our Favorite Vacation Spot! Loved the new addition of the Hobie Catamarans!!! My husband and our friends husband are avid sailors and we had so much fun every day on the Cats!!! My friend and I would never accompany them as the little sailboats were too uncomfortable for 2. The Cats were VERY comfortable and we even picked up a few "non-sailors" to go with us! Thanks RC for the Welcome Addition. Kudos to Carlos and all the Sailing Staff!! Also a big Thank You to our favorite Royals Employee, Juan Marmolejo, at the Royal Sands (formerly from the Royal Cancun) Marina. Our husbands participated in the Friday Regatta both weeks during our stay. We can't say enough about what a great job Juan does. He treats his boats like they were his own and takes excellent care of them and is always busy cleaning the Marina. I hope the Royals appreciate what a valuable employee they have with Juan! We only wish he was back at the Royal Cancun but we happily visit him at the Sands!

Visited in late November/early December 2020 as an exchange through our timeshare. First time visitors and obviously not members but we were still treated like absolute royalty! The staff were all so amazing. I’m kicking myself for not writing all of their names down to acknowledge them in reviews but seriously, they were all so accommodating and professional.

The names I do remember: Hector, the best waiter ever! And on that subject, the food was awesome! Marisol in housekeeping was amazing, and Emily and Zuri in the kids club kept my 4 kids so happy—they hardly ever utilize any kids club activities at other resorts because they’re never any fun, but they were begging to return to the kids club here. George was our concierge and was very welcoming and spoke PERFECT English—I was so impressed.
The bar tenders remembered our names and our favorite drinks after just a couple visits to the bar. Can I just say again, we were treated like royalty?!

This was, by FAR, the cleanest resort we’ve ever stayed in (and we’ve stayed in many!!!). So many COVID precautions and we felt very comfortable visiting and wouldn’t hesitate to return. The staff all wore their masks correctly and I never witnessed any of them adjusting them or trying to pull them down (honestly, not that I would’ve cared but I know some people do). Our room overlook the parking lot and I noticed, even walking to and from their cars, employees kept their masks on.

Our room was very large, clean, and well stocked. The beds and pillows weren’t the greatest but I slept just fine. We truly did not have one bad experience throughout our whole stay. We’d love to return soon!

We’re a family of 5 (3 kids), and stayed for the first time at a Royal Cancun resort, overall experience was great, our room was always spotless, very good cleaning management all over the resort. We really enjoyed it.

The bartenders/servers by the pool are awesome specially, Angel, & Aaron best in class. At the restaurant Mayky and Jesus awesome waiters…
This resort is very family oriented and quiet resort to enjoy the pools and ocean!!

Thanks for having COVID-19 test on-sight very convenient.

disadvantages:
I wished the kids club were more dynamic, and with activities during the day… hardly new there was one!!
Food can be better, specially for lunch.
Concierges were again too pushy trying to get you involved into the 90mins talk!! Not necessary and annoying for me.

I went sailing two times, (free sailboats.) The ocean was beautiful, crystal clear turquoise color water.

The resort is 40 years old, but maintainance is perfect, you would think it is brand new. All the furniture in my Villa was brand new, beautifully furnished and decorated.

I went into downtown CanCun several times, on a 12 pesos bus... The location of the Royal CanCun is perfect... It is in the first section of the Hotel Zone, about 3 miles to downtown CanCun, and also about 3 miles to the Convention Center. I didn't rent a car, I got around easily on the city busses. The resort also has free busses to and from the other Royal Resorts on the other side of the island.

note: I have been a member of VCI, now the Royal Can Cun, since 1977. I have never had or heard of any complaint in 40 years.

There isn't much to do in the evening, but the pools are open until 10:00 so we enjoyed nights swims and walks. After a full day in the sun, our family was very tired and my kids wanted to just hang in the room. We have been twice with our kids at that age and they loved it.

No you don’t owe anything. There is a deposit at check in and some miscellaneous taxes to pay at check out along with anything charged to the room.
