Hotel Oka'an was hard to find, even with a gps, there is just a small hotel sign next to a dirt road. The dirt road snakes through the jungle and ends at a wall, gate and security guard. Once inside the gate, we continued to the open air reception center, where we were offered local drinks. This place is a spiritual healing center, with the buildings aligned to the stars. Before checking into our room, I received a 40min. massage inside a beautiful spa, by a Mayan woman. Our spacious room, was absolutely beautiful, with a wonderful bathroom, patio and hammock, overlooking the jungle and pool. Everything about this property is perfectly beautiful, maintained by numerous staff. The open air restaurant is wonderful, we chose to eat on the deck, overlooking the pools and jungle. There were no insects in or around the property (not sure why). The food and service is incredible. I had shrimp scampi cooked table side. The restaurant is also the location the for breakfast buffet, I give this dinning experience 5 stars. Honestly, I was sad to check out. On my next visit, it will be a longer stay.

I stayed at Hotel Okaan for two nights and absolutely loved every minute of my stay. I had a 3 day business trip in Cancun and knew I wanted to see Chichen Itza, and find some time to relax, at the end of those 3 days. I read a TON of reviews of other hotels in Cancun, Tulum and the Piste area outside Chichen Itza before settling on Hotel Okaan. I wanted a place to unplug and unwind and this location was perfect. My cabana was lovely and inviting. I slept well each night (the bed was firmer than I was expecting, but was still very comfortable.) The restaurant serves what I would describe as "Home Cooked" food. This isn't a 5 star restaurant with stunning menu items, however, it was still very good food and cocktails at fair prices when compared to where I stayed in Cancun (Canopy at La Isla, a Hilton Hotel). I had a relaxing massage and spent a lot of time in a hammock in the pool. I would choose to stay at Okaan if I come back to Mexico because it was by far the most peaceful place I stayed at during my entire trip. I fell asleep to the sounds of frogs and cicadas, and woke to the sound of birds each morning. I rented a car in Cancun and drove myself to the hotel, and to Chichen Itza. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Be forewarned, the wifi only functions in the office and the restaurant, so if you're planning on working during your visit this might not be the place for you. However, if you want to truly unplug and enjoy a relaxing time in the Yucatan, this is the best place.

The rooms are basic, no TV, no phone and no wifi which makes it perfect to disconnect from the world and enjoy nature. The food was GREAT! and the staff was very kind and wonderful. It is in the middle of the jungle so expect and be prepared to encounter insects and other animals. The view from the observatory (the roof of the building) is incredible, it is a 360 view of the night sky, sunset, or sunrise.

This hotel is in a great and romantic location and the facilities are really nice. We just stayed one night and we thought that check-in and check-out were okay but not very warm. The toilet in the room did not work great since it did not fill well after each use. There were extra blankets and a hair dryer missing in the room. Internet in the room was not available.
The food at the restaurant was good but rather small portions and service was way below expectations.

We loved this place! We stayed for 3 nights and no one else was staying at the property. Super easy to find!! We drove ourselves. We watched lots of birds when lounging at the fresh water pools. Staff was so attentive and friendly. Great English. We loved the property. Room was spacious, the double bed is odd for couples but the nicer rooms don’t have 1 bed. There’s also a rooftop you can see over all the trees and watch the sunset, we loved it up there. It’s definitely bug friendly you are in the middle of no where. We’re some small bugs in the room but asked them to come sweep for us and they did so with no problem. Restaurant was great! Big menu, I went every night to get at least a Cesar salad, as best I’ve had in Mexico. Antonio and Julian were so great. They make a lot of food table side.

Hotel Okaan was under all criticism.
The hotel turned out to be a hell of a lot out in the Yucatan jungle. All of a sudden the bus couldn't go any further because of some branches. We were then unloaded, and we had to walk ½ km. with our hand luggage to the hotel.
It was freezing cold in the room, and there was only a wire net in the door. All designed for a warmer season. There was also only a thin sheet and thin cotton cover on the bed, so I immediately asked for extra blankets, but only got one. It also turned out to be a very thin blanket. At this point, however, I didn't know how much I was going to freeze at night.
From the roof terrace we were told we could see the Mayan temple of Chichen Itza. I wanted to see that, but my God, it was a small blob far out on the horizon, and first you had to climb a rusty spiral staircase, and the entire roof deck on the roof terrace had collapsed.
Definitely not as the pictures on hotels.com and booking.com show.
Here you also don't see that there is no toilet seat on the WC and that the shower didn't work well.
Wifi was only available in the restaurant, which was also outdoors. Could you expect anything other than that the dinner was correspondingly poor. One of our Swedish fellow travelers had to change the meat, as the first one she got could not be cut with a knife at all.

I really enjoyed this hotel. If you are going to Chichén Itzá And Ik Kill Cenote, you would probably be very tired to get back on the road to Cancún so why not stop at this amazing gem and recharge?
The hotel is quite simple, it is not luxurious, you only have internet in the restaurant and common areas. However this is exactly what they want to make out of this place, a sanctuary where you can rest and reconnect with nature and your environment. I had a chat with the manager who told me many details about the hotel, a few to mention is that it is astrologically placed in reference to Chichén Itzá, y
So you are getting all the vibes and energy from the place. The hotel has many walk paths, they make a fire pit, a temazcal inside the pool and lots of places that invite you to stop and relax. The spa is supposed to be a “clinic” for energetic well being.
The breakfast is included and their meals are healthy and decent priced.
I definitely would recommend this place and hope to go back some day

After looking at the website, we thought why not. A jungle hotel near Chichen Itza would be great. We got our rental car and made the 2.5 hr drive from Cancun. We received an “upgrade” to our reservation from standard to royal. There was nothing Royal about the accommodations. We checked in after 11 pm. There were only shutters on the screened windows, the full size bed was short for a 5’4” person. My husband at 6’4” slept in a ball to avoid half his legs hanging off the bed.

Needless to say, not pleased. Cold water, low flush toilet, past guest hair in shower drain. Gross!

Free breakfast consisted of slices of fruit, basket of toast, butter, jam and lukewarm plain yogurt with granola. Anything else was extra charge. Even the bottles of water we had to pay for since they only offered coffee or tea.

We checked out soon after and asked for refund of second night. We couldn’t stay another night. Hopefully we will get the money back.

Headed back to Cancun and in comfort at another hotel.

But if you are wanting a primitive jungle hotel with none of the amenities shown on the website, this could be your best vacation. For us, it was very disappointing.

My family of 6 just stayed here for one night. The property is beautiful and so quiet. The staff is amazing. Dinner was an absolute joy and so delicious. The chef came out and and cooked 3 dishes at the side table with the children.
Would highly recommend!!

This place has great potential, I can only assume the covid scamdemic took its toll here. Every part of this place is in need of repair and maintenance. The pools are cracking and falling apart. Poolside furnishings are rotting and dangerous. Our room 303 would lock but not secure. No TV, wifi, phone, refrigerator or anything in the room. We had to take chairs from the neighboring rooms balcony. The ceiling in the closet was moldy and rotted away from an old AC leak. I had to clean the showerhead so that it would work. The toilet seat was not even connected. We felt bad for the staff because you could tell they tried hard to do the best with what they had. This place has huge potential if someone takes it over and sinks some money into it. If not I am afraid it will not be around much longer.
