First of all I went there with friends and it was the perfect resort Food : 10/10 Even though there is only 3 restaurants a la carte, buffet make it up for the variety. And you don’t have to reserve the restaurants and the waiting time is usually less than 10 minutes. (Try out the burger shack for lunch!!) Cleanliness: 10/10 lots of staff working around making sure everything is perfect. Fun : 10/10 lots of activity and the animacion group is really nice ! I have only good words for Monserat, Max and Rashid !! You made our week really fun !! Loved your energy Beach : 8/10 just because you can’t access it from the sand. You have to go through the dock but then you get in the water with some of the most beautiful fish in the world !! Would I go back ? Definitely

Hotel's Favourite
THE SETUP We traveled June 11th to June 18th to the Iberostar Cozumel. My wife and I have been to the Riviera Maya several times and wanted something different. With all of the reports of sargassum on the ‘mainland’...we had heard that the West side of Cozumel had no sargassum…so we chose Cozumel! It was a trip to celebrate our 34th Anniversary, and it was just the two of us. Our travel agent recommended the Iberostar Cozumel…and it did not disappoint! ARRIVAL We flew American Airlines out of Kansas City…connecting through Dallas/Ft Worth. Our plane had a maintenance issue after we boarded in Dallas and our departure was delayed nearly 1 hour. I think that’s what caused a bit of a back up in Customs at the Cozumel airport upon arrival. But, the airport is small enough that it only took about 45 minutes to clear the airport. We found our Amstar transportation rep out in front of the hotel and only had a short wait prior to leaving for our resort…only enough time for one quick cerveza before getting on the van. Cozumel is small enough that it was only about a 25 minute drive to the resort. The front desk staff at the Iberostar couldn’t have been sweeter…and they were super helpful. We immediately felt welcomed and valued. The bellman took us directly to our room on a golf cart…and we were all set. THE ROOM We were room 3503. The location was PERFECT. We were about equal distance from the beach and the lobby and main restaurant…neither direction was more than a 4 or 5 minute walk. The room was ‘no frills’ but was very clean and neat and exactly what we needed! Even though we didn’t use it, the minifridge was well stocked. The resort provided re-usable glass water bottles for the filtered water…and we had a refill station right next to our building/room. The air conditioner was great..and our room stayed cool the whole trip! Great sleeping! THE STAFF We thought the staff at the resort was awesome. Top notch!! EVERY staff member we encountered was polite and helpful. Every time we went to eat, we were welcomed with smiles and an obvious eagerness to help. When we made our reservations for the a la carte restaurants, I casually mentioned that Friday was our actual anniversary. We ate at the SmokeHouse on Friday…and they escorted us to a special table that they had ‘decorated’ specifically for us and they all wished us a happy anniversary. We thought this was extra special since I had only mentioned it in passing. When you’re there for a week, you start to develop a relationship with some of the staff. By the 3rd night, the waitress at the lobby bar knew that we wanted a glass of Bailey’s on the Rocks after dinner...so she would bring them to us as soon as she saw us. (By the way…for those of you who don’t… I encourage you to take a stack of $1 bills with you to these resorts and tip the staff when they provide a service to you. I know they say you don’t ‘need’ to…but, it’s such an easy way to show appreciation for the work being done.) THE BEACH The beach was awesome! I don’t think the resort was super crowded, and we never had any trouble finding 2 loungers near a palapa or other shade. There was lots of “chair-saving” going on every day…but, we still had great luck finding a perfect spot each day, even after we’d gone to breakfast and didn’t arrive at the beach until 9:00am or 9:30am. The sand on the beach was PERFECT..exactly what you expect when going to Mexico! The first 20 or 30 feet in the water had some rocks on the bottom, so water shoes are helpful. But, if you go over to the pier and get in the water there, the bottom is smooth and perfect. And the water was amazing. CRYSTAL clear and very warm! And there were very few waves all week long. The water only got wavy when a boat passed by. I took a snorkel and spent a little time snorkeling around the pier and saw thousands of fish and a couple of rays as well. ACTIVITES We didn’t participate in the ‘on-resort’ activities, but we saw the “entertainment staff” having a great time with the games and activities at the pool and throughout the resort. The shows at night were pretty typical for the resorts in Mexico. Manage your expectations and just go and be entertained after dinner each night. We DID get off the resort a couple of times. One day we took a 10 minute cab ride into the town..it was just $20 each way. We did some shopping down around where the ferry docks. We loved the fact that it’s still pretty laid back and is not yet blowing up ‘commercially’ like 5th Ave in Playa Del Carmen. We also took a day to rent a jeep to tour the island on our own! AND there was an Alamo Rental Car rep AT the resort (Cesar)! So, we were able to reserve one without going back into town. It was AWESOME. We drove to the Eco-Park at Punta Sur for starters and went up the Lighthouse. We saw the crocodiles as well. We HIGHLY recommend this little side trip. Then we drove the perimeter of the island on the “wild side”. The scenery is amazing and you REALLY feel like you’re off the beaten path. That side of the island feels very uninhabited and remote. We stopped for a cold drink and tacos at Mezcalitos! It was amazing. Great view! And, finally…we booked a snorkeling excursion through our on-resort Amstar rep. They picked us up right off the pier on the beach. It was INCREDIBLE. We have snorkeled many times on the mainland and in the Dominican Republic…but, this excursion blew those away!!! We saw EVERYTHING!! The coral reef was gorgeous! The water was CRYSTAL clear…almost like air! We saw our first shark ‘in the wild’ (nurse shark)…we saw several sea turtles….DOZENS of sting rays… barracuda…star fish… and thousands of other gorgeous tropical fish! We stopped at a sand bar for snacks and stood in waste-deep water about 200-300 yards from shore with rays swimming all around us. Then they dropped us off right back at the pier at the resort. It was a GREAT trip!!!! HIGHLY recommend it. THE FOOD/DRINKS Overall, we all thought the food was excellent. We had seen some reviews that mentioned the food as a ‘negative’…but, that wasn’t our experience at all. We’re not picky eaters at all, and we always found plenty of options to get our fill. We did all 3 of the a la carte restaurants. This resort is a little smaller than a few that we’ve stayed at on the mainland…and there weren’t as many choices at the a la cartes..but, the food we got was good. The Mexican restaurant was our favorite. The main restaurant was plentiful, both at breakfast and dinner. We like to try different foods when we travel…and everything we tried was very good. We usually just grabbed some chips and guac or a hamburger and fries at the beach bar in the afternoon to hold us over until dinner. The drinks were easily accessible and plentiful. We’re not big drinkers…but, we like to have a cerveza and a pina colada throughout the day. We were never more than a few steps from an eager staff member to get us a drink. THE RESORT We LOVED this resort! It was adorable and quaint. The bright and colorful buildings were beautiful! The grounds were kept very clean, tidy and well-manicured. The foliage was beautiful and well groomed. The walkways throughout the resort were so peaceful and well-lit. And there were all kinds of critters throughout the resort. Lots of iguanas, peacocks, coatis, and birds. The lay out made it easy to get around, and there was always a golf cart going by on the main pathway to offer a ride if necessary. The pool was immaculate….the theater was very nice…the lobby area was a perfect place to hang out after dinner for a drink and listening to live music. FINAL THOUGHT Overall…we were VERY satisfied with our choice of resort and will DEFINITELY return! This was THE MOST RELAXING vacation we’ve had in MANY years! EVERYONE was great…front desk, bellmen, housekeeping, bartenders, wait staff in the buffets…everyone. Very friendly and very helpful. We’re already looking forward to next time.

I spent a week at Iberostar Cozumel and was very happy with the service, food and all-inclusive experience. Dressel Divers is located directly on the property, which makes it convenient for divers to get to all the amazing dive spots in Cozumel. One thing I will say is that there are a lot of guests that are divers, which has its' pros and cons, as it means that when the Port is open and the divers are all out at sea, the resort is nice, quiet and the pools and restaurants are not that busy, but when the Port is closed and diving is not permitted, the resort is quite busy, as most people tend to stay on the property, rather than heading into town or exploring other areas of Cozumel. During my time, the entertainment team of Monserrat and Rocio were very helpful and worked hard to get to know my family and involve us in many of the activities available at the resort, like Mexican Bingo and many of the pool related games and competitions. Both have very friendly and engaging personalities and we enjoyed talking to each of them every day. Throughout the day, you could see them working hard learning the names of each of the guests and making them feel welcomed and included at the resort. I had the opportunity to do both aquatic exercise and sunset yoga several times with Manolo and each time, I was very impressed with his level of energy and knowledge that he has for so many of the physical activities that he runs at the resort, in addition to managing the gym and providing personal training for some of the guests. I would highly recommend doing at least one sunset yoga session with him, as the views are amazing and he truly knows his yoga positions and how to put them in order, so that the entire session flows together. I have to give a shoutout to the maintenance team, as I had an issue with my air conditioning and rather than trying a few things within a short amount of time, the second maintenance person that I had, took the time to carefully check out all parts of the air conditioning unit, to find out what the issue was and then made sure that it worked before leaving. Unfortunately, I did not get his name, but if I did, I would definitely include it in this review. One of the members of my family has a strong allergy to coconuts and we were very impressed when Yexmi introduced herself to us and asked us who had the allergy and then told us that she is responsible for ensuring that people with food allergies are taken care of at the resort. She then proceeded to show us which food items contained coconut, so that my family member could avoid these items. I would highly recommend Iberostar resort to my friends and family.

The rooms were very good. Any problems we did encounter were dealt with. The food ranged from average to good. Not 5 star, but certainly acceptable. The property is beautiful and you can’t beat the dive shop on property with its own dock. Perfect for a diver and non-diver couple.

Excellent resort in the nature. The rooms are the right size, clean and efficient. There is excellent snorkeling and catamaran facilities. The bunglow concept for each room is excellent. There is a flock of flamingoes, a few parrots, and some other wildlife at the property that gives a feel of tropical forest. The food is great at some of the restaurants, and there is a lot of variety. We did have a minor hiccup when checking in as we booked two rooms and they thought there were 3 adults and 1 child. However, they resolved everything the next day.

It's a family resort, but just my wife and I went. What a wonderful time we had. The resort is beautiful, and there are many things to do, but the staff is what really made the trip. Rudolfo, the Sommelier helped us learn about wine and tequila to an entire new level for us. Fidel somehow seemed to be everywhere and was always addressing any needs. Natalia at the front desk was great and gave us a wonderful rundown at the start and Ramon was always available helping us make the most of our stay. The club portion has a more private pool and bar with top shelf liquor and the bartender Armando made some of best drinks while we were there, and Christian was always helping as the club concierge. We did a private dinner on the beach and that was fantastic at sunset. Cindy was our host and waiter and was just great. Finally, Rocio was always encouraging us to take in the events. Each and every single person here was worth remembering their names. They are friendly, welcoming, helpful, happy, and certainly made me want to think about planning our next trip there. P.S. my wife took all the good photos, so I don't have them here for the review :)

I just got back from a 7 day stay at this lovely resort. The food was great, with many choices. I went there last year to complete my Open Water Diver Certification, this year I returned to just dive and enjoy the resorts amenities. Dressel Divers has been a real gem of a company. Pamala remembered me instantly, and made sure I signed up for all the sights I wanted to see again. She is an amazing woman and made feel very well taken care of. Fede and Fernando were attentive Dive Masters making sure I had everything I needed as well as kept a good eye out for me at the dive sight. These two men are very knowledgeable and me me feel safe. I went on my first night dive this visit, Martin was my private Dive Master he held man hand when I needed it and made sure I saw everything there was to see from Octopus to Lobsters. This whole team is Fantastic. I’ll be going back next yeae

We had an amazing stay at Iberostar Cozumel. This place is true paradise. This is by far the best resort to stay if you are an avid diver looking for the easy access to the best reefs in the world with five star quality. In between dives you have so much to do and plenty of space to relax by the beach and or pool. The hotel staff and amenities are more than you could ever ask for in terms of cleanliness, diversity, and accessibility. We cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff. They were all so friendly and attentive. We booked a romantic dinner during our second night which was the most beautiful and romantic night of my life. It’s an absolutely gorgeous set up (think of a one on one date from the bachelor but better) and amazing food. Cindy was our server for this and she helped make it so special. I highly reccomend it for those who are looking to get engaged! The drinks and food are the best that any all inclusive resort would have to offer. I should also add this hotel has a vast amount of wildlife which we loved- parrots, flamingos, hawk, iguanas, turtles. We loved Pepe who greeted people in the lobby and was a super friendly bird. Lastly I have to give a huge shoutout to Calaki, the hotels tattoo artist (yes! There is a tattoo shop in the hotel that is AMAZING!) Calaki is an amazing artist who took the time to go through a design with me that I had been thinking about for a long time. She was able to accommodate me on our last day before we left for our flight. They are so incredibly talented and she made me feel so comfortable and cared for ! WE WILL BE COMING BACK HERE !!!

Service is not near as good as it has been. Was up charged for my room after I had booked through Apple Vacations. They now allow day passes to cruise lines so you stand in longer lines for food and beverage, and there are less beach chairs available. I’ll will look at different resorts for my next trips
