I actually rented the upstairs apartment that is owned by the same family that owns the Shell House! Let me say first they are so dang wonderful there is no reason not to stay in either location! I did find the apartment on AirBnB but it is not listed here. Just know that these ladies will go out of there...

Had read about the shell house on TripAdvisor. We came across it during our travels. Very interesting architecture! Very cool in person! Apparently it's a rental home if you want to see what it's like to live in a seashell.

If you want to stay in an art piece, then this is the place to stay. The architecture and artwork are stunning. The owner's are the BEST!!!! We will DEFINITELY be going back! It's not a hotel, but an actual house! You don't have to worry about crowds, you have total privacy. You have your own pool! The owner takes...

This is one of the most beautiful and unusual homes I have ever stayed in. What a treat. We had seen it online and had visited the island before and drove past and joked, "wouldn't it be great if they rented this place?" and now... they do! The logistic details: The caretakers are literally next door, but there is a...

What an amazing experience! We spent 2 nights at Casa Caracol and it felt like 2 nights in the "Life of the Rich and Famous"! People popping their heads over the fence to take a photo only added to the experience. Hosts Racquel and Vanessa were wonderful. They were quick to help with any query. We hired a golf cart...

I feel very fortunate to be able to have enjoyed this place with my friends. The house was built some years ago and it has a lot of charm. The well maintained private pool is definitely a big feature. On a sunny day you can cool off in a spacious sunken living room with a built in sofa and lots...

We have been going to Cancun since 2002, and each year do a day trip to Isla Mujeres. While there, we would rent a golf cart to tour the island, and would always be amazed when driving by this unique architectural wonder, imagining it is just as out of the ordinary on the inside as it is from the outside....

8 years staying on Isla Mujeres for winter and summer getaways. We Love the island and its people. We always wanted to stay at the Shellhouse. The design is awesome and is well worth photographing. But that was it for us, the novelty wore off in two days. The owner is very gracious, honest and quick to have anything fixed or...

We were so excited to stay in the famous shell house on Isla. I booked this house (paid in full) through airbnb on November 7th. We were amazed to find that is even able to be rented out, and we booked it as a surprise vacation for my mom's birthday - she's been coming to the island for years. Just...
