This was my second time visiting Mahekal. I love this place and the staff is by far the best I've encountered in our travels. The team at Fuego, both breakfast/lunch and dinner are the best at the resort. After a few days, it's as if...More

The Mahekal Beach Resort is a legendary resort village located on 800 feet of white sand beach in the heart of vibrant Playa del Carmen. It has 198 thatched roof, palapa-style bungalows within steps of Fifth Avenue, …Morethe celebrated entertainment, shopping, and restaurant district of Playa del Carmen. The thousands of loyal repeat guests at Mahekal Beach Resort describe it as magical, memorable, and authentically Yucatecan. Our style is friendly and relaxed, a unique Caribbean experience where you can rock gently in a hammock on your private terrace and enjoy undoubtedly the best beach in Playa. Our guests love the fact that we have never compromised our truly unique ambiance and style. In keeping with that style, our rooms do not offer televisions. Instead, they feature original, brightly colored, Mexican tile bathrooms, private terraces with hammocks for siestas and star gazing, and locally-crafted Mexican wood furniture in an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy our magical sanctuary. The Resort offers meal plans that include breakfast daily and lunch or dinner. This choice gives our guests the opportunity to explore the many dining options in Playa del Carmen. Less

I believe there are penthouse rooms thru out the resort so it would depend on the location of one you get. Alejandra in reservations is very good - you can email her at reservations @ mahekalplaya . com and inquire about room numbers. They do show a map of the property on their website. We had room 159 which i LOVED but it is very close to Mamitas so on Saturday night could be loud if they have event. Apparently there is also a beach club on the other end of the property. Safest location would be closer to middle. I didn't mind the music from Mamitas since it was only until 7pm or so - but if they have event I could see how could be bad. There are 200 or so rooms - I am sure you can get a quiet one. Also - you can ask which numbers avail and take a look w keys before committing which is what I will do when I go back! It is a really lovely resort.

They do not have TV but have good wifi. We couldn't access our Direct TV app or Netflix - but my husband found a work around for Netflix which gives you a local US VPN. Had to pay like $12 online. Your better off downloading some shows to a device before you go if you really need to watch something.
We requested a mini fridge - was $10/day. I didn't use it - but my husband liked having some beers in the fridge to sit out of the deck at night. Drinks are not included in the board - you will have to stock from the grocery or Oxxo just outside resort.
