Restaurants are scarce in this part of the world and luckily several B & B s serve dinner as well as breakfast. When we were here our host served a very nice dinner. Our room was excellent and the beds were outstanding. Our host has had an interesting life and he likes to tell about it and about his views of the world which can be a bit tiring after a while.
My wife and I stayed with Wegg for four nights in early May this year and enjoyed the experience enormously. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. We ate in every evening and Wegg produced a great variety of dishes using locally sourced ingredients. The skate wings were particularly good. The premises are not licensed and so if you like a drink with your meal you can bring your own or Wegg can provide at cost. The location is great for birdwatching as it is by Loch Druidibeg and Loch Sgiopoirt. What makes Kinloch different? Wegg. He is a welcoming and helpful host and conversations around the breakfast and dinner table are interesting and stimulating. I am still not sure if all the views expressed by Wegg were truly held or the result of a mischievous delight in challenging conventional PC thinking! No review of Kinloch would be complete without mention of Maxi the dog, beautifully trained and welcoming but never a nuisance.…
For four days we were guests at Kinloch. We got the upstairs room with plenty of space. Wegg made us feel like home. The breakfast was tasty and the dinner just awesome!! So delicious!! We spent some nice hours with great conversations with him. When we came home in the evening Maxi always welcomed us in the garden. She is so cute and well-behaved! If you stay at Kinloch you are in the pure nature, the loch directly near the garden with a lovely bench to sit there in the evening. The path across the moor is perfect for a walk at the end of the day. We hope we can come back someday! Angelika and Michael
Conveniently located just off the main road down the island but quiet and secluded. Spacious, clean upstairs room with en-suite with bath and shower. Lovely views down the loch to the hills. Well located for exploring the area. Food was excellent and cooked by our host Wegg. Home smoked trout, enormous delicious scallops. Fabulous breakfast, the best we had in the Hebrides. Conversation over dinner was lively and wide ranging particularly as we had two American visitors staying. Max the chocolate labrador was a softie, shame we had to leave her behind. Would recommend.
We stayed here for 2 nights. Wegg, the host, is a character with many stories and a fun way of expressing himself and his opinions. We talked about many different subjects during dinners. Wegg is an excellent cook who can put a meal on the table in a delightful, tasty way. I highly suggest having him prepare the evening meals.
We booked on the net and the accomodation and meals were as described. Perhaps this place is better suited to the fishing enthusiast as both the host and the other guest, when we were there, were very keen anglers. If we came again to Uist we would probably book one of the local guest houses
Just stayed here for 2 nights bed, breakfast and dinner. We were allocated a lovely room with ensuite facilities and had access to the comfortable lounge. Wegg is a lively host with good conversations with strong views and opinions which proved to be entertaining.. He very kindly asked about our food preferences , hence we had lovely breakfasts and superb dinners with an emphasis on fish !
Stayed for 2 nights touring the Hebrides kinlock was clean and the bedroom had a large bathroom and Plenty of hot water. Weigh was an interesting host and proved he can cook food was very enjoyable. This is an ideal place to stay on route to north or the south.
Very peaceful location on shore of Loch Druidibeg, superb for fishing walking bird watching. The host is an excellent cook and a great conversationalist with advice and help on what to do on South Uist. A very enjoyable and entertaining experience.
Once again a great stay at this excellent B&B. A week of great company and fishing ending with a memorable Salmon. Good food, particularly the set up for the day breakfasts, are a feature of Kinloch, superbly hosted by Wegg Kimbel.
