Peter our host made us very welcome and comfortable, we felt right at home immediately. His meals were superb using quality products and his breakfasts delicious, needless to say we over ate! The rooms at Chez Jallot are large, well appointed and there are rooms for a diverse range of requirements. Pete is a friendly, knowledgeable and bi-lingual person full of knowledge of the local area. One can’t help but enjoy a stay here. The region is beautiful and in the middle of rural France, perfect for sightseeing, biking and hiking.
I have wanted, like many I am sure to visit Chez Jallot since I saw it on Grand Designs goodness knows how many years ago! Well, I was most certainly not disappointed. The house is beautiful - we had the lovely Hummingbird room with its wonderful copper bath! Peter is a considerate and welcoming host, with a great ability of keeping people of different languages all entertained at the same dinner table. Would recommend eating evening meal there, as it is great cooking and also it is difficult to fod somewhere nearby to eat. we hope to return again one day.
We stayed in the Master Suite for 3 nights in mid-August. Everything was perfect! Pete is a top notch host. He helped us work out a safe and scenic route to cycle to Chez Jallot from Limoges, as well as a couple of fabulous circuits taking in local markets during our stay. The breakfasts were great and dinners even better. We had a few very enjoyable evenings chatting over the meal and a few drinks. We’d love to come back again.
I must have been drawn to book my night at Chez Jallot without realising I had watched the Grand Designs programmes on Channel Four, or maybe I'm just getting old and forgetful! I enjoyed a lovely peaceful night on my way to visit family nearby, tired from the stress of the 'will they won't they strike' (Ryanair), then surviving French ATC problems on my revised departure date. The owner Pete was very welcoming (even though he witnessed some of my worst driving as I arrived at Chez Jallot), I had a lovely room, very comfortable bed, fantastic shower and everything I could have needed. Over a delicious breakfast Pete explained to me the history of the building (it all fell in to place then) and some WW2 history of the surrounding area, I have ordered the book outlining the history of the house too now. Many thanks for your time and assistance Pete, much appreciated.…
Chez Jallot is a beautiful restored Creuse house, set in the most idyllic (and largely unknown) area of France. We had stayed at Chez Jallot before (a few years ago) - it is still as lovely as we remembered; such a peaceful and comfortable place and Peter is a warm and welcoming host! We stayed in the Vassiviere Suite (a couple of rooms sharing a large shower-room), which was absolutely perfect for a family of four. The views from our bedroom windows were stunning. We booked one night initially, but shortly after leaving the following morning, we had a car accident. Without going into all the details, all we can say is a massive thank you to Peter, who helped us out in every single way he could and allowed us to return to Chez Jallot for an additional night, in order to make plans to continue with our holiday. We absolutely love the Table d'Hote arrangement. Peter is a really good cook (tiramisu was amazing!), but, more importantly, the ambience at the dinner table is warm, friendly and incredibly inclusive. Peter quickly translates from French to English and back again for anybody who doesn't speak both languages, but it's a really great place to brush up on your French (or English), because you get so much help. The walks around Chez Jallot are stunning. We will most certainly be returning - I highly recommend Chez Jallot and cannot thank Peter enough for being so incredibly kind and helpful.…
