We stopped for lunch here between christmas and new year while out braving the sales with a 3 year old. Despite the fact that they were obviously busy and we hadn't booked, the staff managed to find us a table. The bar/restaurant has great atmosphere and the menu is good pub style food. Food arrived very quickly once they'd taken...

Stayed 2 nights in room 6, overlooking the castle, spotlessly clean double room with ensuite, although on busy road traffic noise during night was minimal and did not disturb us, the food was tasty, beautifully prepared and served by welcoming and friendly staff. There is a great bar, three lovely dining rooms one of which you are welcome to bring...

Called here on a Tuesday night early in the New Year. Pub was busy and booking over the phone earlier in the day was simple. Food choice very good with a great selection of specials, something for everyone. Food arrived quickly and was hot and well cooked. Would definitely return

What a fantastic find- as you would imagine from the name of the Inn this is a genuine old fashioned restaurant with incredible atsmophere. Staff so friendly and helpful and lunch time menu had a great choice with good prices. Food (haddock and chips) arrived in timely manner and nicely presented on the plate with home made tartare sauce -...

We didn't want to have a lot for lunch as we were going home for dinner so we decided on a sandwich but although I believed I ordered a ham sandwich the staff thought that I ordered a cheese. We all like cheese so we did enjoy it with home made coleslaw and crisps with some lettuce leaves and a...

Great atmosphere lovely and cosy. Staff are very pleasant and friendly. Toilets are nice and clean and the car park is of a good size.

Staying for two nights we were welcomed by a lovely girl who was very informative, totally "into" her job and full of fun. In fact the owner and all his staff were excellent, and eager to make our stay enjoyable. Room 5 with a view of Whittington Castle across the road was spacious, spotless, warm and comfortable. Well equipped with...

Recommended by my mum who'd been there many times - this time didn't disappoint. Welcoming hello from the bar tender (may have been the owner) as we walked in. Really nice and warm inside with a lovely decor. Ordered a starter of calamari ( can recommend this) and A sirloin steak cooked to perfection with chips and veggies. Huge portions...

A lovely old fashioned pub in a lovely village setting complete with castle ruins. Friendly landlord and staff. We ordered a grilled plaice with mushy peas and a chicken curry with rice and chips. The curry was served over a whole chicken breast and had lovely spicy flavour without being too hot. Chips were served separately. When the food came...
