We came in a party of 10 for the gala evening. Service staff were fantastic and the food was probably the best we’ve had at a big event .
What’s really disappointing is the standard of the room, we booked a superior room, it was dirty ( in particular the bathroom floor and hairs in the bath)
The room was TERRIBLE, I’ve never stayed in a room as bad for a superior.
Breakfast was good standard, but on checkout just now, neither staff members asked anything about our stay, just asked for the money we owed.
Place is very tired but has potential.

Sadly disappointed in our girlie spa weekend.

Firstly reservations booked us a rate with a treatment included (we booked just over one week before we arrived) but failed to tell us we needed to pre book the treatment. Nevertheless we called up 4 days before to book the treatments we wanted and we were told the spa is separate and no treatments available - also they were fully booked even when we were sold that room rate less than a week beforehand. Room rate was changed.

Cleanliness was a major issue, especially since we are still at risk of covid. No spray in the gym area to wipe down equipment and the wipes that were provided were not fit for purpose nor replenished after all used up! The bedroom was full of cobwebs!

Hotel needs a lot of repair works! Including the outdoor hot tub still not working after an apparent car hit into it when the hotel was shut during Covid.

Staff were friendly and helpful - absolutely no fault there at all :)

Rather overpriced for a mediocre stay!

Due to a flying visit I stayed at this hotel. Upon arrival the place looked a little run down, as I checked in there was some confusion as there system was down and the receptionist looked all flustered, anyway I was checked in and taken to my room. When I entered the room it was freezing, the receptionist turned on the heating and assured me to room will warm up in good time, it didn’t! Without hesitation I was taken to another room where the heating was on. The room was very clean, and the shower was powerful and hot. I then ordered my evening meal, Rump steak and chips, this was absolutely delicious. I then had a very good sleep on a very comfortable bed. To summarise, the UK is currently under the second lockdown and the men who where running the place tried very hard to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately the SPA was closed due to the current restrictions, I feel if the spa was open then the grounds of the hotel would be much more presentable.

Next time I am around for business I will book here again. Many thanks

The context of our visit is that we have family nearby so can drop the children off and have a night away. We have been doing this at the Clumber park hotel for 10 years. We have visited probably 7 -8 times.
This will unfortunately be the last.
If it wasn’t for the restaurant and bar (waiting staff) I would have awarded only one star. The very efficient, polite and overworked staff actually made the experience bearable.
For one night at £140 the offer was - 10% off our meal, breakfast in bed ; late checkout (we left early as just wanted to leave), a glass of prosecco each and use of spa (with 25% off treatments).
The food on the evening was average. No better than a pub meal. Not quality local produce. Not particularly well cooked and certainly very over priced ! Service very attentive and needs commending). The Poor girl behind the bar was run off her feet busy. Staffing levels seemed low.
Prior to the visit (which was one of my Christmas presents) I rang to book a spa treatment. None avail (so the 25% off a treatment is not a good deal if you cannot get one !?). Steam room was broken.
Rooms are tired /worn and haven’t been upgraded since ownership changed hands to Muthu. Such a shame as this could be (as it once was) a hidden gem, especially with that wonderful park on its doorstep and being in a farming area with plenty of locally sourced produce I’m sure available nearby.
Breakfast arrived late (10:10) and was cold. Sausages seemed low grade and bacon tasted odd. Poached egg was hard boiled!? Toast was cold. I left most of my breakfast.
On checkout, we were asked how our stay had been and we were honest about the experience and how unfortunately and with regret, we will not Return to a place that we have frequented on and off for ten years.
I just feel such a lovely building in a great location with dedicated service staff is really letting the potential go to waste.

Dear Georgie Warm Greetings !!!! Thank you for your custom and highly appreciate your feedback on this forum. we value our loyal guests and look forward to welcoming them back all the time. You are our valued guests and please do accept our sincere apologies for not being able to meet up to your expectations on this occasion. As you may have well noticed that entire reception and lobby is brand new and recently done up. Also you would have noticed spa /Restaurant/Suite refurbished. Due to back to busy we have not been able to complete room refurbishment however we have done over 25 rooms. It is a big place and large investments are required to carry our full refurbishments in one go. Which also means Hotels needs to be closed for a while.. we have been very strategic and carried out work without disturbing our guests and causing inconvenience to them. New owners have invest and as part of continued commitment improvisation of the facility is being done on daily basis. we look forward to welcoming you back soon Best Regards Rajesh .S

Myself and my wife booked into Clumber park Hotel and Spa on Friday 21st Feb for a one night stay for a bit of us time. Clumber park Hotel has always had a good reputation however I feel it is now living off it a little. We were greeted at reception by a man with a steel rod piercing through his lip. Not really what I would expect from front of house. We were checked in by a girl on her first day who was lovely. We then went to our room which was basic and very cold. It looked like it had been recently decorated but lazily, i.e paint splatters on the light fittings etc. The TV was in a strange position in the corner but not on an angle at all and the wiring had been held up by Sellotape, lol but it had now lost its sticky ness I had to re tidy the wires myself.
We went to the spa and it reminded me of Sunbed wars on holiday. Not enough for everyone, I felt sorry for guests who were expecting a relaxing stay and couldn’t even sit down by the pool. The Chlorine levels seemed high and my wife complained to me about her eyes stinging. We didn’t eat in the restaurant. Breakfast was very good but we’ve stayed at hotels with better. To top it off as we checked out there was a sign on reception to say that the pool and Hot Tub were not available to use and when we asked why we were told it was because of chlorine levels. Imagine if you were coming for a Spa Weekend and were greeted with that! To summarise I would say there are better hotels out there even Premier Inns are clean and tidy and cheaper. This hotel is in dire need of investment, it needs more staff and a decent Manager to set high standards of professionalism. We would not go back ever as we were disappointed. We have stayed at older hotels who have more character and value for money and don’t pretend to be something they are not.

First hotel room had not been hoovered - contacted reception who offered a 2nd room which still wasn't up to standard cleanliness. 3rd room was acceptable - no apology was offered, I would say the receptionist appeared annoyed. Curtains in room not wide enough and was not secured one end. Quilt thin and not very warm. Shower not a power shower. Safety bath mat was a horrible yellow color and not clean. Room not serviced on middle day and was left with wet towel, full bins and supplies not replenished. Again informed reception who brought extra tea & coffee, had to ask for clean mugs. Asked reception to empty bins and replace towels. All the reception staff did the minimum to sort the issues and did not apologise.
Had afternoon tea which was lovely but was not happy when told we would have to pay extra for a latte especially as the price of the afternoon tea was not cheap.
Breakfast was lovely and a lady called Helen was friendly and helpful, definitely the best member of staff we experienced.
I have stayed in many hotels and this is the first time I have ever had to ask to move rooms!!!
When you have a complaint it's how it's dealt with that counts.
The staff dealt with our issues very poorly.
I would not return and would not recommend to anybody.

Booked on a 'Beauty & the Feast' overnight stay as a treat with my partner. Room not ready on arrival, given a dirty, dingy room with a view of the road and excessive traffic nois, having specified a quiet room on the booking. Swapped rooms after discussionat reception. Finally got down to the ',Spa', the pool was cold, with a strong odour of chlorine, and a dirty tide mark around the edge of the pool & jacuzzi. Rusty metal edges all along the side edging of the pool. Filthy loungers, and not enough for the number of guests. Gym equipment out of order. Toilet roll holders and locks etc hanging off in changing rooms. The treatments were ok, but nothing special. The food in the massively outdated restaurant (Think Fawlty Towers) was beyond disgusting, an undercooked/boiled? steak and a bit of halloumi that tasted of chip fat. Neither of us ate our meal and didn't want a replacement cooked from the same kitchen. And they then have the nerve to sell Prosecco in a screw top bottle! Retail price £4.99, hotel charging £29..
Would have left and not stayed if we had not had a drink. Checked out early and did not use the facilities the following day, as we did not wish to stay a moment longer.
This place is an absolute shambles, it needs closing for a complete deep clean and refurbishment rather than piddling about painting one room at a time. It needs proper investment.
We complained to the manager on the morning of departure, as we booked through a third party website we were told this complaint has to go via them. The manager assured us they would deal with this as we requested a full refund. We are still waiting for any form of contact...

What a disasterous spa weekend. We were emailed the night before arrival to say we could not have our pre-arranged treatments due to ‘staffing issues’.

The spa area itself is very run down, pool is freezing cold, so we didn’t go in. Our package included a cream tea, which we had arranged at a pre-booked time, only to have to sit & wait over 30 mins for it to arrive.

The 2 gents trying to run the spa area did not seem to know what they were doing. Towels and bathrobes seemed like gold dust and the changing facilities needed a major clean.

When I complained about the lack of treatments in the spa, a lovely lady named Claire tried to remedy the situation. She was the only beautician working and had agreed to help them out (this was her first week) and she was clearly overworked due to the poor organisation of the spa bookings. The hotel management do not deserve her great service, and she pulled a rabbit out of the hat & got me a slot for a pedicure (after her regular working day had ended). Top marks for Claire. She deserves a medal to put up with the nightmare that is the hotel & its management.

The rooms are dated, in desperate need of upgrading. Rooms were also very cold, so not a great nights sleep.

No hairdryer in the room, had to ask reception for one.

All in all, a terrible experience and would not recommend to anyone until the owners can get themselves better organised, get more staff and invest in the hotel. The manager on the reception also needs to learn how to be more polite to paying guests. When I complained about the late cancellation of the spa treatments, she was somewhat rude.

We came here a couple of years ago and were very impressed, thus booked again.
This time we were really disappointed with the service, the room and the poorly maintained building.
We waited 45mins in the lobby to check in despite there being two members of staff checking guests in. The lobby had a stale fishy smell which spoiled the ambiance of the nicely decorated lobby.
The guests on the queue in front of us returned to the lobby while we were still checking in to say their room had not been cleaned ... they were left standing with no apology while the receptionist moaned about the cleaning staff. The check in staff were curt and unfriendly and did not leave one feeling welcomed.
Our room was clean and satisfactory. The bathroom clean with some quality, complimentary toiletries. The radiators in the room did not work and it was a chilly night. Thankfully we had a lovely hot bath to warm up in the morning.
The iron and ironing board were a godsend to iron out the creases before our fancy dinner out. The hairdryer was not working. Coffee and tea facilities with biscuits were appreciated.
Breakfast was satisfactory and the staff friendly and eager to help. However, they were run off their feet and very short staffed which meant that tables were not set properly, crockery had run out and not replaced which left lots of diners waiting before they could eat or get a coffee.
The outside of the building is poorly maintained and the gardens in need of attention. It's such a shame as the buildings and gardens have so much potential and I can't help but wonder if 'a stich in time would save nine'.
We decided against visiting the spa after reading other guests reviews ... and a chilly swimming pool certainly didn't sound appealing after feeling cold in bed.
Hopefully things will improve as the hotel has so much potential. I will check the latest reviews before I book again.

Visited the spa today with my sister for a long awaited day of relaxation. On arrival there was a lovely lady on reception who signed us in. We were given a towel each (noting a sign stating only one towel per person allowed) and shown to the changing room. This room is tired and dirty. Dripping taps, no toilet rolls, overflowing sanitary bins, and speakers blasting a radio station that wasn’t quite tuned in. Entering the pool area wearing the worlds smallest towel, it became apparent that there were no seats available around the pool, the sauna was broken, the pool was cold with a ring of brown scum around the edges. After 10 minutes in the pool (didn’t notice the scum till we were in), we got out looking for somewhere to sit and relax for a while as we had 3 hours till our treatments. The cafe section was in darkness, and was clearly being looked after by the receptionist that signed us in. We waited 15 minutes in wet costumes with tiny towels (no robes or slippers) for her to return from another area, only to be told that there was no food or hot drinks available for another 2 hours! We sat on some sofas in the cafe area, no books or magazines anywhere to be seen, and started our 3 hour wait for treatments. On standing up there were huge dirty marks on our towels, the sofas were filthy. In the end we requested a refund and left.

What a waste of a beautiful location. This place needs a good clean, repair to all broken equipment, and a lesson in maximising profit via excellent customer service. We went to this spa ready to spend some money on indulgence, instead we had our money back and spent nothing while we were there.

I suggest the owners spend a day as a customer and experience this for themselves.
