Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This USED to be one of the best boutique hotels in North Devon with a superb restaurant. Sadly that is no longer the case, it is indeed a shadow of its former self. We discussed our disappointment on checking out and the staff member told us they are trying to get the place back to its best, they have a long way to go! The finer details that made it our 'go to' in Devon are now being missed and although the staff were fine the place seems 'rudderless' and in desperate need of direction. Great shame!

We stayed at kentisbury grange hotel in march this year for my fiancé . We stayed in a lodge with a hot tub and an excellent stay. The lodge was very clean and tidy upon arrival and lovely and warm. The hot tub was perfect and tucked privately on the side of the lodge. The staff were warm and friendly and couldn’t do enough to help and make us feel welcome and had great knowledge of the surrounding area and where was great to visit for the time of year. We had a lovely evening meal in there beautiful restaurant and a great breakfast also Me and my fiancé will definitely be returning Gavin Robertson

Absolutely gutted. Booked a much needed three night stay in a Suite with Hot Tub - all confirmed with Booking.com. Then got what I thought was a welcome message, only to be told my booking was overbooked and no such room was available. Lucy at the hotel tried to assist but had no authority to offer an upgrade only a downgrade! Very disappointing experience and won't bother again. Trip typeHoliday · Couple

Stayed at Kentisbury Grange in a lodge over the Easter weekend. Even though the weather was poor, we were able to enjoy the gorgeous hot tub and the stunning views around us. We had an excellent Sunday Roast which was served by attentive, friendly and efficient staff. Well worth a visit if you want to switch off and unwind. Saunton Sands and Croyde Bay are not far and beautiful places to visit. Loved our stay, thank you

Amazing stay at Kentisbury Grange. My partner and I stayed in a luxury lodge where we enjoyed the hot tub with a beautiful view of the grounds. The Sunday lunch was absolutely fantastic and fantastic value. All the staff were very attentive.

We stayed in one of the lodges at Kentisbury. It was absolutely amazing. The lodge was very spacious, well equipped, comfy relaxing & clean. Had lovely nights sleep it was so peaceful & we got to see lots of wildlife first thing in the morning. Our hot tub was clean & the perfect temperature. The children loved the colour changing lights. We visited the Coach house restaurant & had a delicious steak & several cocktails. The children also had their own menu. If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful & relaxing. I highly recommend & the staff could not have been more helpfu & always had a smile on their faces .

We stayed in one of the “luxury” lodges (lodge 10) recently and in general it was lovely but the closer you look you realise it needs a bit of work. The curtains have damp/mould (which is concerning as I’ve seen pictures of the same in a review from 2021), the walls are dirty, blinds are missing or falling off and there was a huge crack in the hob. Its self catering so you don’t expect much to be provided but there wasn’t much compared to other places we’ve stayed, no cleaning spray provided so unable to clean the kitchen worktops, no oven glove, lack of pans/trays and the only frying pan is in a major need of replacement. There’s a coffee machine and 4 pods are provided which seems a bit stingey considering it sleeps 4 and we were there 4 nights. I personally wouldn’t buy a whole box of pods for a coffee machine I don’t have at home. The hot tub is lovely but only really has one setting and the jets don’t do much as the controls are either snapped or removed. The bathrooms are absolutely lovely especially the one with the shower, the shower is amazing. The most concerning thing was that in the instructions it said when stripping the beds to leave the mattress protectors on which is odd in itself but when we stripped the bed we discovered stains which would suggest they don’t change the protectors which is a bit gross! Overall the location is great, lovely views, lovely staff and plenty to do in the area and it’s a lovely place to relax and a really nice lodge in general, it’s just a shame it doesn’t seem to be kept in a nice condition!

The food was nice... But the service was absolutely diabolical and the staff absolutely useless. endless roast dose not mean endless roast it means sitting around for hours waiting for food to come out in drips and drabs just not on for a restaurant of that calibre very disappointed. And to top it of after all the bad service they treat you as it's your fault and says things behind your back thinking you cannot hear it! Shame because the food that did actually make it to the table was lovely. The manager of the site needs to have a serous think to how the place is run and how people are treated!

Wow! What a place! We stayed as a treat for 4 nights at Christmas in a self catering lodge. On our arrival (Christmas Eve) we met Wayne the manager, he told us about carols being sung in the house with drinks and canapes, what an awesome start! - Christmas Day we woke to a generous gift of hotel chocolat treats, was the best touch from Wayne and his staff. Christmas dinner was beyond excellent, Turkey parcel cooked to perfection with all the extras and trimmings! 4 courses, we were stuffed! - what we loved about our stay was that we were left in peace but knew that the staff were only seconds away. (Oh and the dog loved it too! - (Wayne even putting a little Xmas dinner in a dish for him!) The Churchill family shall be returning for sure! Thank you to all at KG and especially Wayne who goes way over and beyond.
