A good relaxed stay. The hotel is now just b & b and i have to say although somewhat sad about this at first it made us look more closely at other eating places nearby which was a pleasant surprise. Also this made it more relaxed with other guests being more not leas sociable.

Lantern Lodge is in desperate need of a refurb. Everything about it is out of date. It is in a fantastic position above Hope Cove with incredible views. But it's not a great place to stay. The decor, service and food are all out of the dark ages. No overnight staff just adds to the sense of desolation. Definitely not...

I don't normally do bad reviews. However, if u want to stay in a museum an are over 75 this could be for you. Very dated and over priced. Quiet as there is no bar. Cleaning staff excellent. Nice location at the top of Hope Cove very steep decent to beaches. Disappointed 😞

Lantern Lodge is in a wonderful location overlooking Hope Cove, the breakfasts are fantastic!, the Lodge a very quite place with wonderful antiquities in all rooms. There is a indoor swimming pool & sauna. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of walks, starting from the Lodge as it is situated on top of a hill...

Overall, a nice place to stay in a lovely location. Pricing top range average. Quiet, comfortable bedrooms with lovely seaview rooms. However, Lantern Lodge feels like it's treading water until a change of ownership happens. If you read previous reviews you will notice that it changed from a hotel to a B&B only this year. I understand that they used...

Great location, spotlessly clean, friendly staff, faultless breakfast (both choice and preparation), excellent lounge and sun-room and ample parking. It's a little dated, but in a charming and comfy way and although it's now officially a B&B (not offering night staff or evening meals) at heart it's still very much a hotel; the well-maintained putting green on the sloping front...

I believe in being as positive as possible when reviewing, so let's start with that. The Lantern Lodge is in a beautiful location overlooking Hope Cove. There is ample parking. The bedroom and bathroom was spotlessly clean and breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice, beautifully cooked and served by attentive staff. Okay, so when I sent an email asking...

Lantern Lodge was very clean with a good bathroom but as we prefer a more contemporary hotel it was rather dated. We noticed it has been sold so maybe that is why they haven't changed it. There was a pool which I enjoyed & an excellent breakfast with beautifully laid out tables. Great location with views over Hope Cove &...

The Lantern hotel is in a beautiful, scenic location. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful. It is an exceeding organised and well run hotel. The staff were very accommodating about a change we required. They made you feel very welcome. Breakfast had a good variety of choice and the breakfast was delicious ! Could not fault it ....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Lantern Lodge, Hope Cove, Kingsbridge. The Lantern Lodge is a small privately run B&B situated on the cliff top right next to the South Devon Coastal path and overlooking the secluded fishing village of Hope Cove with its Devon thatch cottages, clean, sandy and safe beaches. Nearby are the old traditional towns of Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth all offering their own individual character and all offering that little extra to make your stay in the South Hams that extra special and unique. Also close by are Thurlestone, Bigbury and Dartmouth golf courses all with stunning views of the area and fantastic and challenging courses. The Lantern Lodge has its own special extras to offer including an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, double, twin and four poster rooms all with en-suite facilities and some with sea views. 9 hole putting green and plenty of car parking. There is a dining room where breakfast is served. The Lantern Lodge is so named after its attractive leafily-clad 'Lantern window.' Local folklore would have us believe that this type of window was specially designed to hold and display an illuminated lantern which could be seen from all three aspects far out to sea, acting as a beacon to safely guide home all their boats. Nowadays, our Lantern window serves very much the same purpose in welcoming back our contented guests year after year. ... more   less
