I don't often return to the same place but this is an exception. Tucked away in a rugged cove with the sound of the sea, the setting is stunning. The Hope and Anchor has undergone a substantial refurb since our previous visit but hasn't lost its charm. The room was warm and comfortable. We also had dinner there which was...

We had a two night winter break. Excellent value, superb breakfasts, the staff were absolutely lovely and I had a nice chat to several. We have two dogs (£10/night each or £5 in the winter I think) and the whole bar area is open to dogs. The carpets had just been cleaned so I was glad to see that the...

Had a Valentines stay over two days. The location is fantastic if you enjoy walking, first evening we headed west just over to Thurlestone to throw a ball for the dog on the beach. The next day we mapped out a lovely 10-mile circular route to Salcombe with more ball throwing and catching some sea food at the winking prawns....

Lovely stay, window overlooking sea but you can not see the sea from bed. Not very pub-by, more food orientated, superb breakfast.Pop next door for more locals pub. Beach looks safe and there were swimmers in Feb, so take swim before breakfast.Nice coastal walks, narrow Devon lanes to get to Hope Cove. Clean, nice room with very large shower with...

Popped in many times, but first time for accommodation. The staff were very friendly, the rooms clean and comfortable, and my word, the bed was amazingly comfortable, leading to very good night's sleep. The food as always very good. It was very warm, even in the cold weather.

This old establishment belonging to St Austells has comfortable beds, lovely showers, is very clean with very helpful and friendly staff and beautifully kept beer. All this nestled in an elevated position just over one of two coves. I would definetly return here, but I would check first to see if they had managed to prise money out of the...

This was previously a delightful old pub but has been ruined. My wife has been visiting since her childhood and we had not paid a visit for a couple of years. We were shocked to find that the once wonderful and cosy historic pub had been transformed into a low grade Wetherspoons. The food looked appalling and the staff were...

We have just stayed at The Hope & Anchor for 2 nights and overall we enjoyed our stay. The food at breakfast and in the evening was very good and the staff were all friendly and seemed happy in their work. As this is a managed pub the overall feel in the public areas seemed much more commercial than in...

What a lovely stay we had here. The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Really good selection of drinks. Our room was extremely warm but had a phenomenal view across the bay. Would definitely recommend eating here and steering well clear of The Cove next door.

Our third stay at the Hope and Anchor and still simply stunning. Staff are friendly and helpful with superb attention to detail and nothing too much trouble.
