We are easy going when it comes to holidays and are happy to go with the flow. However, the Rimondi Grand Resort & Spa disappointed in many ways. We arrived at 3:00am and were rushed to our rooms and told to check-in properly in the morning. We left our room the next morning, the door handle fell off! When we went to reception to check-in we informed staff about the handle and were promptly reprimanded for using the handle to pull the door closed. We were told we should use the key to pull the door toward us. All inclusive - don’t waste your money. All bath plugs removed from rooms, watered down drinks, flat sprite and coke (lids left off the bottles behind the bar), questioned about how many drinks you want to order, attempts to double charge for spirits before 7pm. I had to show my bank transactions to verify that €20 had left my bank for two whiskeys! The all inclusive menu in the restaurant was, at the very best, 2* quality. Flies on the cold meats, cheeses, salads, sauces and other fruits and vegetables that were on offer. Food was lukewarm and worryingly reheated the next day after being converted to a different dish. Cats freely roaming throughout the restaurant and staff removing people’s plates almost before they were finished. Some of the staff were polite but on the whole the atmosphere was one of end of season complacency and a lack of customer service or care. We couldn’t wait to leave and tried to get a flight home two days early. Unfortunately, we witnessed many visitors expressing their unhappiness and disappointment when they realised, like us, that this hotel is definitely not a 5* establishment

If you want somewhere to sit around the pool and do nothing and go to bed early then this is the place to go. Definitely not 5 stars - more like 3. I've been to another supposedly 5 star all inclusive in Greece which was far better than here for the same price. The staff are very nice though they don't make the rules. We were given a free upgrade in arrival which was a lovely one bedroom apartment. The fridge had one bottle of free water. The food was nice enough although lukewarm like most of these places. I've had much better choices elsewhere but I am vegetarian. The WiFi dropped constantly in the room but was ok by the pool. I wouldn't have minded but my own phone signal wasn't there half of the time - I'm not sure if it was because we were up the mountain or all the concrete around. The bus from the airport to the hotel took 2.5hrs- we got in near midnight with two other couples and thought we were the only people in the place - we went to the bar and it was completely empty. We were able to buy a drink as all inclusive finished at 11pm. I only drink gin and couldn't get this before 7pm unless paying - when paying I got beefeater - the all inclusive gin had a really strong flavor it was horrible. My partner drank the beer which was fine but you could only get a half pint at a time unless you wanted to pay. The entertainment was non existent apart from a couple of hours one evening in the outside space with Cretan music and dance. Otherwise it was whatever cd the lads put on. There are 3 pool tables e2 a game and 2 air hockey tables e1 a game. To get your room cleaned you have to book online the day before and choose a time slot. To get to the beach you can go on the free bus the same day. To get to town you have to book the day before e7 one way or e9 return each. The town is worth going to as there is literally nothing else to do near the hotel. A taxi is around e20 each way. If you go to the beach head left until you get to the blue flag part as where you are dropped is all rocky. The TV has one English channel BBC news so with no entertainment and bad wifi the evenings are very quiet. If that's the kind of holiday you want then great but I definitely won't be back.

Food very cheap and poorly cooked, no entertainment at all. I would call it a 3* at best. Rooms not cleaned unless requested 24 hours before by email (really, you need to put toilet paper in a bin that’s not emptied for days!!) staff sullen, not all inclusive, you have to pay for their own bus to take you into town, no spirits before 7pm and if you are in the queue for drinks at 11:50, tough, you won’t get served.

It was ok, average in fact. I would argue the 5 star. The rooms were nice, bed comfy, bathroom a little dated. The pools were ok, cleaned regularly. A small shop on site for snacks etc, which is needed as there wasn’t any snacks or mid dinner food available. The all inclusive drinks were poor, very poor! Watered down cocktails, lots of rules around what you could order and where you could go with them. Food, well, ok… not great, I love trying authentic regional food when away but the options were minimal to say the least. Good amount of breads, meat and fruit but traditional Crete food, very low indeed. Entertainment non existent, only once a week and when it was on, unfortunately pretty poor. Staff were great and hardworking but be aware, you only have your room cleaned if it’s booked online. The beach a ride away free of charge but was unfortunately terrible, Dirty and small. The ride to the city was great with a small charge, the city is beautiful, so many shops, cafes, restaurants! Overall, as stated, average. Definitely not a 5* more a 3* I would say.

Having read other reviews on here before going, I was worried I’d made a big mistake. Apparently the place wasn’t very good and the food is limited, at best. Well, it turns out, that is a load of nonsense. The food was excellent, with a huge amount of variety. I was there for a week and had many different dishes every day. There was pork, beef, lamb, rabbit, cuttlefish, chicken, mussels, perch, tope, cod, pies, cheeses, veg dishes, moussaka, various pasta dishes, chips, the freshest salads (tomatoes to die for!), puddings, fresh made pizza, ice creams, fresh fruits, an incredible range of fresh crusty breads and loads other things. Even my fussy kids loved the food here. The room (junior suite) was perfectly fine. Air conditioned, clean and in good order with nothing really remarkable about it. The grounds are well maintained with a choice of four swimming pools with plenty of sun loungers. The staff were all lovely and helpful. They explained all of the ‘rules’ upon arrival such as €4 per day per room tourist tax ( this is government imposed, not by the hotel) to be paid in cash, book room cleaning via the website, all inclusive ends at 22:50 each night etc. The resort is a little off of the beaten track, so you need to get a taxi into Rethymno (€22) if you want to see a bit more life. Reception will call it for you if you ask them. I went on the jeep safari (€100 per person) and had a great day going down to the south coast, stopping at landmarks, beaches and restaurants along the way. A great way to see a bit more of the island and its rugged, mountainous beauty. Overall, I had a lovely week here and all of the other guests I spoke to were also happy. I think some of the bad reviews must be from people with Champagne tastes but only Lambrini budgets. Pay for a decent room, you get a decent room. Facilities are great for all.

Definitely not 5 star, 3 at a push. Bog standard stay. Rooms very average. Our bathroom was terrible with a sewage smell. Food ok but repetitive and cold. No spirits allowed until 7pm, if you purchase drinks it’s very expensive. €26 for 3 drinks! Transfer from the airport very long - 2.5 hours! Had a massage booked for my bday and only received a 20 min massage if that! Gave us a freebie one for later that week but was very standard - therapists spoke the whole way through. All pretty standard.no pools heated. Very hilly and not suitable for old age grannies and grandads. The ready made sex on the beach cocktail is very good lol!

My friend and I arrived late, close to midnight on the 27th of September. We were looking forward to a cup of tea. However, they do not provide milk, and the shop was closed due to the time. When we asked for milk, I got the impression that they were either not allowed or couldn't be bothered? We were taken to our standard room, which was OK. We thought we wouldn't be there much anyway. However, if you want sunshine or even just some sort of view, you're better off paying for a room with a view. We had a brick wall and a balcony above us, leaving a small strip of daylight. All inclusive, for us, was a disappointment. The food and drink on their private beach were not included in the "all inclusive" price. The food was only OK, and the drinks we believed to be watered down (the bar staff would keep ducking down under the bar to make the drinks). Also, be aware of the room tax. It wasn't much, I think it was €4 per person per night. The evening entertainment was pretty much none existent. There were two performances, but one was not advertised, so we were unaware. The music in the bar wasn't the best (in my opinion), so we spent most evenings in our room listening to spotify or in bed early. The only English TV channel available was the BBC news although I didn't really go on holiday to watch TV! We went on the Jeep Safari (€100 per person), and it was nice to leave the resort and see more of Crete. We stopped a few times on the way. We visited the Old Town in Rethymno twice, which was definitely worth it. There is much more to see and do, and the beach is lovely with more activities to choose from. Close to shops and restaurants too. Rimondi provides a private bus to Rethymno, which was €9 each for a return - you must book this in advance, though. If you're going on holiday and don't want to do anything, then Rimondi might be for you, but I think we were hoping for more variety.

My wife and I had a fantastic time at this beautiful hotel. We found the staff to be friendly, and the facilities superb. The food was a little bit repetitive, but delicious at the same time. We hired a car, so that gave us access to explore the surrounding areas, as the hotel is a little remote. However, there is a bus that takes you to the local beach. Fully recommended.

Staff made us welcome from the moment we arrived and showed us to our room which was a suite with private pool that overlooked the hills. This hotel is ideal for relaxation and chilling out but also due to being in a hillside a bit if exercise to get around the hotel pools and bars. The food was varied and the meat was lean and plenty of fish and food variety. Good choice of foods from breakfast to dinner. Snack bar by pool with pizza freshly made. Drinks not the strongest and spirits not served till after 7pm but this is ok as stops people getting totally drunk in the day. Bar staff are firm but fair and did a great job x people who have put poor reviews obviously didn't read the hotel booking regarding all inclusive drinks provision or its location. It's not your partying hotel so great for those wanting a relaxing quieter holiday. Bus service to city is great value for day out. Definitely would revisit this hotel.
