Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had our caravan here for a season. Great site! Staff are amazing and can't do enough for you! The facilities are clean. There is lots to do on site, woodland walks, football pitch, dog exercise area, two playgrounds, a beach. The pub is just a short walk away. Great for families and couples alike! We loved having our tourer on site! Would recommend to all!

I have to say up-front this reveiew is written primarily for dog owners - it is a very dog-friendly site, but not to the exclusion of those that don't have or like dogs. There are policies in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all residents. They are common sense and based on the basic rules of society which I like. They can be downloaded by going to the the Fen Farm homepage, clicking top right on the three lines, scrolling down to Availability and Prices, then scrolling down to Downlod our Policies. Had been once before several years ago to a BorderFest (Border Terrier) meet-up and like the site then. This time around I wanted somewhere relatively close for a short break with my latest dogs, Fen Farm fitted the bill. The site is well run and maintained, with very helpful wardens. The pitches seem flat and level and don't feel cramped, at least from my own experience on the field I was pitched in with my caravan. Excellent toilet & shower facilities, even an outside, warm dog-wash for muddy dogs... or people! Five minute stroll to the beach and if you want a longer circular walk with dogs turn left onto and along the beach and you will eventually get to Cudmore Grove country park. They have toilets and a small cafe and from here you can head back to Fen Farm along a single track lane that (theoretically!) has a 10mph speed limit. Then less than 2 minute walk along the East Mersea road back to the entrance drive to Fen Farm. If you want a short 'poo' walk morning or night there are two large fully enclosed dog walking fields where the dogs can be let off lead less than five minutes from the pitches. There are also paths running through the wooded areas to be sniffed on the way to or from the fields. In summary, if you are looking for a friendly, well run site to chill and relax - with or without dogs - I don't think you'll be disappointed. Happy holidays!!

I'm here writing this at 1am and close to crying. The group opposite with Ziggy the greyhound (who if they call this dog one more time I may go spare) are not adhering to the 11pm cool down and be quiet rule. They are talking extremely loudly and it's now woken my 3 year old son in our tent. This is our last break before our other baby comes and it's been utterly spoilt by a group of selfish adults! I have my own dog who's absolutely sparko and not being called every 30 seconds. The noises level didn't actually become acceptable until 11pm and that I can live with but this group are absolutely clueless, selfish and allowed to continue like this. My tent is light enough from their lights that I can't enjoy the beautiful dark sky. The facilities are nice and despite a few children running over to our dog to pet her it's been ok. I can now enjoy the task of getting my 3 year old back to sleep. Otherwise I may just unleash him on them tomorrow morning when he's up at 6.15am and they can enjoy his dulcet tones. I'd rate it lower than 3 but that wouldn't be fair to site that's actually nice. I doubt we'll be staying the 2 nights as planned and we'll be leaving tomorrow

I am so sorry your stay was spoiled. We do try very hard to ensure the rules are adhered to. Our wardens are always here to help with any issues you may have while you are on site.

Our fave campsite, we've already booked for next year, again!! Such a lovely place to camp, they don't over-fill the site so there is still so much space for the kids to play, super friendly, super clean & super safe. We love the Pizza food truck and thank you to the man who leaves his home-grown veg at reception for the campers - your tomatoes & cucumbers were gorgeous!

We visited this site for a 5 night stay in our motorhome with 2 adults and 2 dogs. The site is a large one with static caravans, seasonal pitches and a designated area for touring motorhomes, caravans and tents with or without EHU. From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome by the wardens who gave us loads of local information that made our stay a great one. The toilet block was spotless and warm and Radio 2 playing was a lovely touch. Plenty of dog walking within the site and also a country park nearby accessed along the beach that was great. There is also a pub just outside the site that serves food and I recommend the fish and chips that were delicious. If you want a tranquil and chilled site with a laid back feel then this is the site for you.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home. The facilities were excellent. We had a pitch with electric close to the shower block which suited us perfectly as we travel in an old VW camper. The site is close to a pub again perfect for our needs. Would totally recommend Fen Farm

On a huge grass field, spots are not formally delineated as there's plenty of space. The toilet/shower block was spotless. Water and air temperature are perfectly warm. The welcome was warm and information plentiful. I highly recommend!

Really nice campsite on Mersea Island. Flat grass pitches with electric hook-up. Was £20 a night in March. Lots of walks and a pub nearby. Has its own beach that might be nice in summer. To get on the island you need to check the tide tables as the road in covered twice a day at high tide. Arriving at the wrong time could mean a long wait....

We have recently decided to have a seasonal pitch at this site. The facilities are very clean. The staff are very friendly. The site is laid out well. There are 2 playgrounds, a dog walking and exercise area, a large field for ball games and access to the beach. There is a pub a few minutes walk away too and also if you walk along the coast you can access a country park to one side and a parkdean to the other where there is a restaurant, small arcade area and playground. The pitches have a good amount of space between them with access to electricity and water. The staff were on hand to help us get the van in the right place. Great little site and would recommend.

Beautiful Site Dave the warden so helpful and friendly and wife Julie. Perfect location nice and quiet pub across the road. My only problem hence the 4 rating is the Elsan Point. Water pressure terrible was there 6 months ago and they said was sorting. Really difficult to clean your loo.
