I used to stay in this B and B regularly and am quite surprised to read recent negative reviews. The decor could be considered by some as dated but I thought it added character to the building, and the rooms were always clean and tidy. Rebecca and her husband were always friendly and very laid back about me coming and...

My parents frequently stay at this bed & breakfast when visiting family in the nearby village, and I firmly believe that my mother will never stay in another guesthouse in the area! After such a glowing recommendation, I decided to join them on their most recent visit and I wasn't disappointed. Culm Vale is a beautiful old Victorian house with...

This was a last minute booking when dropping our daughter off at Uni. At the end of a long, hot, tiring day we were met by a delightful welcoming host, lovely clean room, fresh bedding and towels, comfy bed, and delicious breakfast. What more could you possibly want? I really don't understand some of the other reviews I have seen....

Amazingly, this was the same room that the previous "filthy"review was supposed to be staying in.....hadn't done anything extra.... Proves that what is terrible for someone, might actually be nice for someone else. I would like to thank this guest for her review and looking forward to seeing them when they either visit their daughter or come to pick her...

We booked here for two nights a few months before the event. When my wife and I arrived we were told that we hadn't booked... Eventually said that they had made a mistake and that they did have a room reserved for us... We were taken to the room but were shocked when we went through the door how unclean...

After reading this review, I finally decided to claim my business, so I can stand up for myself. Yes this guest did indeed have a reservation, that his mother made for him, as she had reserved a 2 night stay (Sat & Sun) I unfortunately wasn't home when this person checked in, it was around midday- check in is usually...

Arrived after a long drive and didn't feel particularly welcome. Walked in to a musty old entrance hall with to my horror dead animals hanging on the walls. My young daughter was terrified and wouldn't stop crying. I know it's personal preference but I found the animal decor rather offensive. Hoped my room would make up for the initial shock...

This person was the brother of the review posted on the 20th August. Quite a family, only difference is that they didn't walk out! Amazed that the parents stayed the 2 nights that they had originally booked. The children did not burst into tears!! Please think twice before you take your children to the Natural History museum, they will have...

Staying in this house, and sharing the Victorian breakfast table with strangers, was like being inside an Agatha Christie novel. Fortunately nothing scary happened, and the landlady shattered any illusions by telling us the dining table had been purchased on Ebay. She also gave us £10 off because our son had been unable to join us. Bedroom furnishings had seen...

Well, these people misheard! The carpet was purchased on Ebay not the beautiful dining table, think they shouldn't have been listening into a conversation with other guests. I could spend a fortune on furnishings, only for them to be ruined with mugs of coffee rings.

Stayed one night. Very old house, greeted by a pleasant gentlemen more than I can say for the owner quite frosty! The rooms were old and tired looking although I have to say the bed was comfy, downstairs thick with dust and like walking into the past . No toilet or shower in room and every time went to the hallway...

This lady left some nice photos of the room she was in, it was the Pink room. Yes there was a slight issue at night, the Lodger had forgotten which room to put the people in and had therefore tried to put them into her room....ooops, but at breakfast she seemed okay and thought she had seen the funny side...

When you first walk in, it somewhat feels more like you're walking into someone's house than a hotel, and that's an impression that stays with with you throughout. The hostess was delightful, very chatty and friendly. The room itself was much larger than expected (which is always good news!), well supplied and comfortable. The let down has to be the...

Hostess very pleasant and friendly, the accommodation needs quite a lot of TLC though. Cobwebs, broken lamp shade, bathroom certainly needs a coat of paint. Breakfast was good though. Next to a main road which was busy up until 23.00 and then again from 05.00. Not good for a lite sleeper.
