Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Barra is a mecca for North Americans in Winter and |I was recommended to this place by a friend from Las Vegas (which can be windy and cold from November to April) and was not disappointed.I had a room with double and single bed on the (UK) first floor (USA 2nd floor!). It had a ceiling fan (I probably could have done with AC for the first couple of nights until I got used to Winter Temperatures around 75f (20+ C) but after this it was fine and most nights I didn't use it. small bathroom but clean and functional. TV with local channels on the wall. there was a public area outside with settees and chairs which was nice (although smoking was allowed and this could float into the room) until 11pm one night when a group of new arrivals were noisy (they went away after a friendly "do you know what the time is?). There are little restaurants nearby with good prices (breakfast for less than gbp 2). and posh restaurants in the **** star hotels on the sea for less than gbp 5 including oj. there are buses to GDL every hour or so and "chicken buses" to local towns and resorts BUT NOT THE AIRPORT WHICH COSTS A FORTUNE (up to usd 50) for a single trip - so beware and try to find a friend to ferry you to/from. In theory there is a "share a taxi" desk at the airport but I've never seen it manned. Hotel and resort quite safe (apart from the occasional tremor - we had one of 4.8 at 8am one morning - but beware, there ia only one ATM which gets filled one day a week (Tuesday I think) and runs out quickly so if you see a queue, and need folding stuff, join it (there are atm's at nearby towns in emergency and visa/mc taken everywhere. beware buying a sim card for your phone with the promise of "free calls to the UK/Europe" - they don't - only to USA & Canada- hotel thoroughly recommended

Many people come here first & stay while they look around for longer term lodgings. Some people stay for an extended time at negotiated rates. It's clean, friendly, cheap and there's a nice sense of community among the people staying here. Mornings there's an adjacent (unaffiliated) breakfast pop up on the street beside hotel reception. It serves good coffee, fruits, juices and basic breakfasts for rock bottom prices.

I absolutely fell in love with Barra in the one night I spent here. I checked around, and every other hotel costs at least double Posada Pacifico, and the rooms are not any better. I got a private room with 2 beds, hot shower, and a balcony for $250 pesos ($20 canadian). (For each additional guest I believe the price goes up $50 pesos) The hotel was clean, located 5 min walk from beach, and surrounded by many great amenities - bus station, groceries, restaurants etc. There is a restaurant in the hotel that serves breakfast, which I did not try - but it was packed with gringos. Barra is amazing. Not great for swimming, but the waves and beaches are stunning. Lots of decent restaurants around. First place I have been in Mexico with pretty much zero traffic. Easy to walk around the entire compact town. People were very friendly. One night here just wasn't enough! Will go back one day for sure.

Have stayed at this family run hotel 4 yrs in a row. Very affordable. ($12- $35/per nite depending on number of people/ season/ length of stay) .Bungalows are difficult to get, so have moved onto apt living, but always start here on my search. Rooms are spacious and clean, cafe is lovely with on the street seating, good for people watching. I have dozens of friends who have made this hotel their home year after year, and we enjoy watching the maid's children grow up. As for a missing suitcase, very unfortunate, and unusual that something go missing from this hotel. In Mexico I have found the people to be most honest and trustworthy...sounds like the insurance company agrees that the suitcase, after checkout, was not the hotel's responsibility, and one should be more careful with their belongings wherever travelling.....

Left a suitcase with over $600.00 worth of stuff in it, brand new baby clothes, running shoes, etc; called said "don't worry, if you left it, it's here". What a joke. Called back, mysteriously couldn't find it. Talked with their insurance company, yet another joke. It was determined that it was "the customers fault for leaving luggage". Guess it's fair game if you leave it. Someone is dressing quite well as is their child. Thiefs is all I got to say.

Another great vacation in Barra de Navidad! My husband and I have always stayed at this friendly little family owned and operated hotel. It offers clean, comfortable, friendly accomodation and is excellent value for the budget traveller. Only 2 blocks from the beach and situated in a nice airy part of Barra. If there is a breeze (and there generally is) this hotel gets it!! One of the daughters runs a breakfast cafe, so you don't have to go far for your morning cup of coffee! Good basic breakfast food (egg dishes, hotcakes, chilaquiles, and fruit with yogurt/granola) and fresh squeezed OJ.

This is a neat clean little posada located in the heart of Barra de Navidad, which itself is a small town. Only a few minutes walk from the beach, and a similar distance to the bus terminal. I scored a "twin double-bed" room, meaning there were two double beds side-by-side in the room. There was a small TV in my room, but only local channels (no English channels). A bathroom with a separate walk-in shower, and a small area to hang clothes. Ceiling fan to cool the room, and although there was an air-conditioning unit attached to the wall, the nights were cool enough that I only needed to use the ceiling fan on low speed. There is parking, and a courtyard area with some couches and tables if you want to spend some time out of your room. Staff are friendly - one of the guys came to pick me up at the bus station as I had a very late arrival (circa 2am). All in all for the price I paid, which was 250MXP, I thought Posada Pacifico was good value.

This a very clean hotel. It offers no extras,TV etc. But sheets are changed daily. A person will feel very safe staying here. It is family run and they are very gracious and helpful any way they can. Cheapest for the money in Barra!
