What a lovely place! Not quite Tintagel (about two miles away) but in a Valley a short walk to the beach at Trebarwith Strand. A warm welcome from a member of staff, which continued throughout our stay. We had lunch on a groupon deal. Excellent it was too, the same as the rest of our meals taken at The Mill House. My wife chose the grilled Plaice whilst I had traditional Fish & chips, most enjoyable. Our twin bedded room was small but very clean & comfy. Good shower, I particularly like it when it’s a shower cubicle not over bath & you can move the shower head to shower properly. Plenty of tea & coffee sachets & proper glasses, so many use plastic nowadays, clean white towels & a nice body wash. The breakfasts were great, good selection of fruit & cereals etc plus not only a fulll Cornish breakfast on offer but also fresh Kippers ( the whole fish not a puny fillet) but also scrambled eggs with smoked salmon - we’ve stayed at much more expensive hotels that don’t have the variety on offer at The Mill House, The Inn does several themed meal nights, eg Curry & Fish nights & we were lucky enough to be there on Thursday their steak night. The 8oz Rump with all usual trimmings for £10 a head was probably the best rump steak we’ve ever had!! Staff told us it was locally sourced and can well believe it, plenty of locals enjoying the evening too! To summarise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, pleasant staff, comfortable room and great food. Someone’s really trying hard as there were some nice touches, fresh flowers on the dining tables just one example. Well done all concerned, to answer that famous “four in a bed” question, yes we will definitely return!!

We Arrived at Mill house Inn , received a warm welcome and was shown to our dog friendly superior room(10) . Such a spacious clean bright room with everything one would need, Nice and toasty too. Room 10 also had a very large bathroom with a larger than normal bath & shower.
We had lunch in the bar area which was fresh and extremely tasty, All staff were helpful & courteous.
For the nights we stayed we ate at the restaurant, meals were beautifully presented and cooked to a high standard.
Too sum it up The Mill House Inn ticked all the boxes & dog friendly too.

Just got back from a few days here on a Groupon deal. Wasn't sure what to expect as the deal was very reasonable. Its location is picturesque but the road there is not for the faint hearted. Staff are very friendly and although the room was very small (no 7) it had all we needed and the tea and coffee supplies are plentiful. Only a shower but water was nice and hot, never really figured out how to get hot water at the sink as the lever is too close to the wall. The bed was very comfy. The food is superb, breakfast and evening meals were better than we were expecting. Very dog friendly although we didn't take ours. Definitely recommend trying the local ale Mena Doh. Would have no hesitation in going back again.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Yes the lever in the sink is a strange one, but you have to push it in a different direction to get the water flow.

Walking the SWCP this was out most expensive B&B and so disappointing. Our room was shabby with paper thin walls - who wants to hear your next door neighbour visiting the toilet in the middle of the night? Toiletries provided were insufficient for one person never mind two. Dinner was in a Village Hall style of room with no atmosphere; the food was quite good but very expensive for what we had. Look elsewhere rather than visit the Mill House.

We were due to stay at the Mill House Inn for 3 nights. Upon arrival the place looked very tired and in need of some TLC. We checked into our room and were disgusted with the level of cleanliness. The room was very dusty and not clean at all. We stayed in the room for around half an hour before deciding that we would go and speak with reception to see if the room had actually been cleaned. I had at this point got out some wet wipes and decided just to see if it was my imagination but honestly the wipes were thick with dust from the top of the bed and both bedside tables. My partner went down to speak to reception after this as I am 20 weeks pregnant and he wasn’t happy with the level of hygiene. He had asked the receptionist if the room had been cleaned and they advised it had, he went to explain our situation and about the dust etc. Their response was to move us to another room but how would that make a difference if it had apparently been cleaned by the same cleaner? She also advised it was a dusty room?! How dusty can a room get in a few hours? He mentioned to the receptionist that we would have to find somewhere else to stay as this wasn’t good enough, her reply was okay, sorry about that. Not exactly the kind of response you’d hope for? Maybe they could have had the room cleaned again for us, or come up with another way of not losing custom? But no, I suppose for them they already had our money so weren’t bothered. Overall disappointing for us and very expensive having to find another place to stay for 3 nights. Such a shame

We treated ourselves to a special dinner to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at the location where we held our wedding reception. The meal was perfection. It had all the quality that we remembered - elegant presentation, balanced flavours & locally sourced. I had the grilled Cornish Makerel as a stater (superbly done!). Generously portioned makerel on a bed of sliced heirloom tomatoes, perky capers and ciabatta toast. My husband had the whipped smoked goat’s cheese with sliced beetroot. Without hesitation we both ordered the rump steak as our main course served with roast vegetables & triple cooked chips. Just lovely combination of the roast shallots tender & sweet alongside the mushrooms. Perfectly cooked, tender meat. In heaven with a bottle of Camel Valley sparkling wine to accompany the meal. We were too full to delve into a dessert, but instead were treated to an after dinner aperitif of a fortified Malbec - sweet and a perfect ending to an excellent meal. Great food, beautiful location, special place. Highly recommend.

I booked the Mill House as my daughter and three of her cousins wanted to visit Trebarwith Beach and Tintagel. We stayed for two days/nights. Upon arrival the staff were very helpful and considerate with them helping with all the bags and gear that comes with 4 children and a dog. Over the course of the two days, I could not fault the food or the service (especially under the trying times that most hospitality faces at the moment). The best was saved for last however, with us all enjoying a magnificent feather blade steak each.. with all the kids giving this a massive thumbs up. The bar/games area was ideal.. its old pub style so it was a bit dusty and crockety, but then that is part of the charm of the place. The children had a great time playing pool and the various games we bought sat around the fire. Having 4 kids (13, 11,10,9) there were quite a few requests and the staff dealt with these with no question.. just so very, very helpful all the time. The only thing I would say is that the room and other areas could do with a good clean down now the season is over, but one must appreciate its been a busy year with lots of people choosing to vacate in the UK and serious shortages of staff.. you could argue that this would merit downgrading the score.. but i have given 5 stars, because of the food and the wonderful staff who work extremely hard to make your stay comfortable.

** I have one final comment for those who have written such bad reviews... many tourists seem to come on holiday and feel they are owed something because they have been in lockdown and truly act as if they were the only ones affected by lockdown... they would do well to remember that staff here and in other locations have also endured lockdown, some on minimum wage or less and some losing jobs. Yet, they still get up each day and greet tourists / holiday makers with a smile and try their best for them. Some of the reviewers on this site would do well to understand that.

Lauren, you and the other managers and the staff work really hard, they worked really hard for us and gave us a wonderful break.... thank you to all and stay safe and well. James

Superb, quiet location in valley just a few minutes walk to the beach and a hilly climb/walk to Tintagel Castle. We could not fault the location, food or staff but the rooms and residents lounge need some TLC - bland walls, no colour in room at all - which would not be difficult with little cost, matresses felt worn/old and the window frames were grubby. The shower Room was also bland/dated and basin behind (behind tap) grubby . The rooms were not serviced but clean towels etc provided on request. There was a constant supply of hot water and good shower pressure.
Breakfast and Evening meal faultless.

We spent the first night of our four and half week's road/camping trip here, with our two spaniels who were made very welcome. We had a large comfortable room with a really good bathroom. We enjoyed being able to walk down to the beach after our arrival, and then return to drinks outside on the terrace. We had a reasonable but not fantastic, dinner, and the host was particularly helpful in pointing me towards a very good glass of wine to accompany it. I had mussels as a starter, in a sauce that seemed to reappear over my main course fish, and many of the mussels were small and not properly opened and so left on the plate - (it wasn't the best experience of moules. ) My husband too, seemed to get a sauce twice, only minutely altered. We awoke the following day to a total power cut, which left us not only without electricity, but also no water. This meant no early morning cuppa, no bath or shower, no light to read by, or television. We went down to breakfast, where the host was doing his best to feed all of the guests - which he achieved. Everyone got a cooked breakfast, but there was NO COFFEE OR TEA! Or Toast, but that was less worrying... so, breakfast in the gloom, with glasses of water, and flabby bread. It wasn't great, but everyone was being very British and getting on with it without complaint. The only really galling part was when the chef, having finished cooking all the breakfasts over some sort of gas ring I imagine, walked through the dining room with a steaming cup of coffee in his hand! We were told it was fine to stay on until the power cut was sorted out....but we kind of had to as the card machine wasn't working, so we were unable to pay our bill. It would have been great if, when the power did return, somewhere around eleven o' clock, they had offered free coffee to us all as some sort of compensation for the inconvenience. As it was, no compensation was offered . All in all, it was fine, but not great and I probably wouldn't choose to stay here again at the prices they are charging. I would go in for a drink on my way up from the beach though - they are nice people, but just need to make everything a bit better.

The best thing about this place is Hannah, the waiting staff and the food. That’s where it ends. We were shown to the first room and the owner Mark said it’s an old building so excuse the cobwebs! Cobwebs doesn’t excuse the dirty state of everything in the room. Bed frame filthy, layers of dust on everything including lampshades and light fittings. We were offered a move to Mill cottage, which was better but we’re told on night 3 we would have to move. Mark did offer to cancel the full booking but also offered a different room, which on initial inspection looked ok. After closer inspection later that evening (and too late to book elsewhere for the night) we found the room was again dirty. Electrical items with out of date testing certs !! 2016/17, dust everywhere, dirty mouldy curtains, layers of dust behind units. The mattress protector was ripped and dirty and the mattress heavily stained. We cleaned everything we would be touching but the whole place needs to be shut, properly deep cleaned and investment in new furniture, fittings etc.

We spoke to Hannah who really helped us out to cancel the remaining nights on the booking and ensured our evening meal was not charged to us. I would avoid this place at
All costs and would not recommend anyone staying there as what is advertised is not the reality of the venue.
