Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a wonderful stay at The Winning Post, a perfect stay after a long day at Lego land. The staff were fantastic, the food was brilliant, and the accommodation was absolutely fantastic, so clean and just a fantastic place to stay with a small family. We will definitely be returning. Thankyou!

A really nice place to stay, lovely rooms plenty of parking. It was for my 60th and the choice of venue for a weekend away with my family was perfect. We had dinner in their pub / restaurant on one evening and I was very impressed with the choice of food, what impressed me most was to see a young team serving us. I was simply blown away by the high standards this team work to, I would particularly like to thank Chrissie and Helena (who was just getting into her new role of front of house). Thank you I would highly recommend.

Great little village pub but don’t stay overnight! The rooms at the back of the pub have no sound proofing, I could hear every word from other guests, not to mention everything in the gravel car park and the flights overhead. The rooms tea trays are well stocked and the bed was comfortable but the cleaners (if there are any) need to up their game. Dust and filth everywhere unfortunately.

Stayed 3 times over the past 12 months and this was unfortunately the last time. Mid September, the rain pouring and the room chilly yet the manager couldn’t put the heating on as it supplied all the other rooms! A portable heater promised twice and not received. Room tired with damaged curtains and cobwebs. Food very good and as expected prices have risen, but portions also shrunk! Staff generally really nice. Seems busy so I guess we won’t be missed….shame really…

We had a lovely Sunday roast. We both chose the sirloin of beef which was beautifully cooked and really tender. The yorkshire puddings are enormous. The refurbishment is lovely and we had lovely seats outside by the side . Max made us a delicious gin and tonic which was well needed on a hot summer evening. Max looked after us really well and his suggestion of having a mini pudding with a coffee was yum. . Definitely worth a visit

Great food and service in the restaurant. The chef provided us with a fantastic breakfast bag to take away with us the next morning because we checked out too early for the restaurant. Highly recommended !

Recently refurbed the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. The sun was shining and there was a pretty terrace area. Leo our waiter was very attentive. The food was good - we had mackerel pate starters or small plates which were very generous and burgers and chicken dishes for mains. The price was reasonable. I would definitely go again.

Another very nice meal at The Winning Post; a very pleasant evening with friends. The staff are always friendly and attentive, the food is good and the drinks are good. There is plenty of outside space for when summer comes and there is a good amount of parking. This has become a very popular eatery since reopening late 2022 following a lovely refurb. Thanks to all the staff for Saturday evening.

Brilliant location and food excellent as evidenced by how busy the restaurant and bar were. Staff brilliant too. Room decor very nice with a lovely clean and comfortable extra large bed. However the room could do with a good spring clean in particular dusting of wooden flooring especially in corners and edges to skirting boards, bottom of toilet bowl and albeit shower was powerful and hot the grouting was full of mould. Nothing that a good clean can’t put right,
