Just returned from our 2nd stay at Damson cottage. Such a great cottage where the hosts Michelle and Andrew were very welcoming, they live on site if you need anything but will leave you to enjoy your stay in peace.
Damson cottage is set well back off the road and very quiet with lovely views from the garden, we loved having the chickens visit every morning looking through the patio doors waiting for whatever was on offer, It has everything you need for a relaxing break and it was lovely and warm even though it was November.
Carsington water is a few minutes down the road and there is a lovely walk all around if your feeling energetic ( about 8 1/2 miles) with a couple of pubs if you time it right as they are not open all day every day.

A lovely cosy cottage in a peaceful area. Its lovely to see the wildlife in the garden and the chickens come to your front door.
Ample parking.
Everything you could ever need in the kitchen. Lots of hot water. Comfy bed and pillows. A handy utility room separate from your cottage.
Michelle made us very welcome and set out tea cups and biscuits for our arrival.
Carsington Water is so close by you can see it from the kitchen window!
Lovely surrounding pubs and other villages to visit, good walks.

Wonderful cottage. Michelle very welcoming. Also dogs and chickens. Tranquil location but ideally situated for going elsewhere around the Peak District. Rooms, kitchen, view - excellent. Could not fault it and wouldn't. Little touches such as leaving some milk, tea bags, coffee, etc., for us to use on the first day - wonderful. Bed very comfortable and warm. Shower very powerful and hot. Lovely! All in all a great week's stay. Weather pretty good, just a bit naff on Friday. Finally, for a week, in July, the price was exceptionally reasonable. Would recommend to everyone and hopefully, back next year.

Upon arriving, a warm, friendly greeting was received from both Michelle (the owner) and her lovely canine companions.
The B&B where we stayed was cosy and well kept and we both slept very comfortably. The rooms had everything you could want - tea/coffee making facilities, wifi access, a selection of games which would maybe appeal to families on a cold night by the log fire. There was also a large variety of breakfast choices available during our stay, including a tasty fresh fruit platter and many vegetarian alternatives as well as a full English breakfast.
Michelle was very helpful and always on hand to provide any local knowledge for activities to do across the stay. Under her suggestion we had a picturesque walk around Carsington Water, took in some history at Chatsworth House and tried yummy homity pie at Caudwell's Mill.
Overall we had a wonderful stay at both Breach Farm and in Derbyshire and would come back to visit anything we missed this time around.

I stayed at Breach Farm in May 2013 and had seen it advertised in the local tourist info website. I booked the room direct with Michelle the owner, which was better as I could discuss my needs better than via the internet. A friend and I were going fishing at nearby Carsington Water. On arrival we were met by Michelle who showed us round the accommodation, she then asked us if we wanted a tea or coffee. I had tea my friend had coffee. After a few minutes Michelle returned with a huge family size pot of tea and a cafetiere of coffee and a piece of Homemade Victoria Sponge and some shortbread biscuits each. We asked where was good to eat nearby and she gave us quite a bit of information on local places to eat etc. We had the tea in a communal living room and this can be shared with other people as there are two other rooms in the accommodation. The living room was great. There was an Inglenook fireplace with a log burner. As it was still quite cold and Michelle had lit this for us. There was a comfy sofa and a couple of easy chairs. This room also doubled up as the breakfast room. In the evening I sat in the living room and over a glass of whisky and the log burner going I fell into one of those heavenly contented sleeps. The room has a French window and looks over Carsington Water, on the evening of our stay the sun was shining and the view was stunning.
We had a twin room, en suite shower/toilet/bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and with me having some back trouble I had a good nights sleep. There were tea and coffee making facilities an alarm/radio, bedside lights etc. a wardrobe to hang your clothes in. All in all a very comfortable room. Michelle asked us what time we would like breakfast and we requested 07:30 which was not a problem for her. When we went for breakfast in the morning the table was full of food. There were a selection of cereals, jams, fruit juice, prunes, yoghurts-plain and fruit, a plate of fresh fruit that she had prepared for us, toast, tea & coffee and we had the Full English which consisted of 2 Sausage, 2 bacon, a fresh free range egg from her own chickens roaming around the farm, tomato, mushrooms. This was a breakfast that set us up for the day and it was freshly prepared. Michelle even offered to fill our flasks up ready for our days fishing.
if you are visiting the Peak District Breach Farm is perfect, it is very close to Matlock, Cromford, Ashbourne, Bakewell and of course Carsington Water which is a two minute drive away. Breach Farm is a Great B&B with a Great Hostess I will be back and would recommend it to any one and every one and at £40 per person this was better than a hotel where you do not get the service Michelle gives.

Had just one overnight stay at Breach Farm on a bed and breakfast basis and found the double room immaculate with a wonderfully comfortable bed. The welcome Michelle gave us was warm and friendly, and the cooked breakfast was excellent. We shall certainly stay again if we are in the area.

Used to stay locally elsewhere when attending family does in previous 6 years, but they have stopped B&B so needed to find a replacement. All I can say is "what a superb find!" We're a family of 4 so had both rooms. Having your own entrance and keys means you don't have to worry about the time you get back from the party. A lovely warm welcome, both from the hosts and the wood-burning fire made this a pleasant and comfortable stay. Breakfast was wonderful. Having just read the previous reviews, I must make a comment about the beds. Sublime! My son laid on ours whilst talking to me - and then refused to move as it was so comfy. In fact, I want their bed in my home! We will definitely be going back whenever the family has another get together.

This was our second weekend stay at Breach Farm, positioned nicely near several of the Peak District's attractions. There are two rooms in the bed and breakfast part of the house (and some nice looking holiday cottages on the other side of the yard, but we haven't been in those), both with en-suite shower rooms and a handy built-in wardrobe as well as the usual chest of drawers and other furniture. The rooms are decorated very nicely and are comfortable and cosy, the en-suite is well finished and always sparklingly clean! We have stayed in both the double and twin rooms and I had no problem with a good night's sleep. Breakfast is served in the combined lounge and dining room. This is well appointed with a nice wood burning stove and bookshelves full of books for all ages. Breakfast is very nice with a wide variety of options and is a good start to a day of activity! The excellent hosts are always ready to recommend different eating establishments, although the only one in easy walking distance is the Miner's Arms at Carsington. This does good pub food and decent real ales, although you do have to walk up some dark lanes and a couple of hundred yards down the main A road without pavement. Take a torch and it's fine if you're going out on a dark evening.

Local activities include water sports at Carsington with hire available (Canadian canoe for us) mountain bike (we hired bikes from Middleton Top) or walking trails along the High Peak trail, Matlock and Bakewell are not far away by car and Breach Farm is centrally placed for a whole variety of activities.

Well worth a visit and we shall be going back again!

Breach Farm, Crabtree Cottage is a charming stone built cottage that provided us with cool accommodation during the UK heat wave. It is well situated close to Carsington waters and has two pubs in close proximity (about 2 minutes by car). All areas of the Peak District are easily accessible; it was a good base for visiting the well dressings.
We received a warm welcome from the owner Michelle, who was discrete but on hand if needed.
The cottage is very clean and comfortable with good linen and towels. The kitchen is well equipped and the china plentiful and of good quality. The cottage does contain a small number of steps but these did not present a problem for two seniors with walking difficulties. The shared utility room provides convenient freezer and laundry facilities.
The cottage is surrounded by pretty gardens and open countryside. The chickens wandering around the grounds were an attractive sight and kept us entertained.
There was no need to pack those incidentals as Michelle had thought of everything.

I was completely bowled over by the quality of the accomodation and the warm and friendly welcome. I had a lovely relaxing 2 days and my only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. So, in summary; great place, great welcome, great food and all at a great price (you can quote me
on that). I'll definitely be back!
