Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great room with hot water, toiletries, good buffet. Wifi only in lobby not rooms and 2g/3g speed. Room comes with 2x 500ml water initially. No water with meals. Very secure and staff is very helpful and speaks English.

I stayed for almost a week at Mara Chui Resort which was to explore the Masai Mara National Park. The resort has a very authentic feeling, but I immediately fell at home. Hige gardens and my room was also very big, the lay out of the resort was in such a way that you feel very serene and not crowded at all. The best aspect of Mara Chui were actually the staff, they were so kind and so attentive that it felt like home immediately. don’t forget to ask for James to take you out of bushwalks

I will rate each aspect of the resort to achieve objectivity . 1.Location - This camp is situated out of the Maasai Mara reserve and it is close to the gate so not a bad location however not a premium location. The set up of the resort is a little confusing and the rustic feel is more on the unkempt side . 2. Reception- The staff at the reception were pleasant however and check in was smooth . 3.Look and feel - The resort has no resort feel as the dining area is a big tent that is rather dark . The rooms look rustic and the grounds could do with some upgrades both on the greenery as well as the repairs . Basically the resort feels run down 4.Rooms - while they are large rooms, here is where things go downhill . They are not cleaned well , as we had to request for one room to be cleaned again . The shower design and the showers themselves leave a lot to be desired . The water floods outside the shower and there are not towels to be put on the floor to stop it from flooding . The water pressure was low and the shower head has leaks all pointing to poor maintenance .The bed was ok in our room but several other guests complained of hard mattresses . Generally the resort feels very dated and cannot be in any way be called a premium resort . Food - The food was tasty however the choice was limited . Service was poor in the restaurant as it was short staffed as it is low season . The staff had a good attitude however I felt no sense of ownership for the service delivery from management or the owners. The bar was obviously an afterthought and felt like something from the 90s . It was rarely manned and the guests were frustrated from waiting for service . Generally there was poor communication on activities so one has no idea however the bonfires were good . We got to learn of a bush dinner after it had happened . We were on an all inclusive offer however drinks were not part of it which did not make sense as the incremental cost is negligible. The resort seems popular with a particular niche of clients and i am convinced that they might be the target market . The Maasai porters and guards were a good touch .

This 'camp' is adjacent to the village of Oloolaimutia. It is not out on the savanah. It is run down and needs major maintenance work. The plumbing is rudimentary although hot water in the shower and toilet good. The staff are well meaning and the facility is clean. The food is very basic and the menu repetitive. Perhaps intended to reflect Masai life but no mention of this. I find some of the reviews hard to believe and share the concern of other reviewers that they are not legitimate. There was no sense of community, no night fires or games or other efforts by management to provide a resort feel when I was there. The so called bar was an abandoned building with no sign of life. All activity focused on getting into the dining shelter (a dark tentlike affair) as soon as food was available, eating and going to your room which were rather enclosed and dark. No sense of safari as I know it. Nothing blissful about this place. I understand the owners are not Masai or Kenyan. The guests did not appear to be sophisticated travelers and generally were not encouraged to be communicative with other guests. The park experience was excellent but I would do more research re alternative accommodation if I go back. This place is basically a place to lay your head between drives into the park. Michael J

The reception was great. The food was great. We had water and electricity throughout the day and night. Bonfires in the evening and maasai stories. The rooms were big and clean and the staff were so friendly. We even had games at the resort after our game drive. I would definitely recommend them.

Contrary to what the others have reviewed My experience was not nice ! Not at all, 1. The food was basic, I expected something unique something African maybe Swahili dishes but what I got was basic meals. The soup had no bread/bun accompaniment! I wasn’t shocked though, given the standard of the hotel. 2. Like half the staff didn’t know English ! What’s this, the medieval age ? I talk to someone and they just stare. I don’t blame them for that but why hire people who can’t communicate! 3. The interior of the rooms was okay that’s the only part that was a little bit not disappointing besides the point that lights were consistently off and my shower wasn’t hot. 4. The service - the ones I interacted with were friendly enough , that was on que. 5. The main purpose of having a reception it for it to be a communication point ! Tell me why I had to walk all over the resort because no one was at that point to attend to me. And the guard I came across didn’t understand what i was saying ! I was also informed that there would be Wi-Fi at the Restaurant but that was also a lie! 6. The Toilets ! DISGUSTING, the ones at the reception area and the rooms, OMG, that’s a UTI waiting to happen. I was told to give an honest review so here it is , My stay was quite a disappointment, I would definitely not recommend.
