#1 of 2 Speciality lodging in Savigne
Three charming self-catering gites set in a rural idyll yet close to amenities. Chez Hiboux is a 3 bedroom converted barn, sleeping 6. Chez Tournesol is a 2 bedroom Charentaise style farmhouse with a double bedroom and a family room with 3 single beds. La Petite Maison is a 1 bedroom cosy Napoleonic cottage, ideal for that romantic getaway. The gites are set in over 2 acres of grounds with access to a large heated pool, a children's play area, and a petanque pitch. Each gite has it's own private garden and barbeque area. Well behaved dogs are welcome. We keep chickens and fresh, organic eggs are available. All the gites have wood burning stoves for that cosy winter break. Friendly hosts are on hand to assist with any requirements to make your holiday truly special. The area is ideal for cyclists, bike hire can be arranged on site, as well as spectacular canoeing. Poitiers & Angouleme are just over half an hour's drive. Bordeaux and Paris accessible within two hours by train.

We spent such an amazing few nights at Gites Du Marigne - Jeany and Paul were fabulous hosts and went out of their way to ensure we were happy. The pool area is stunning and kept immaculately clean - also, such comfy sunbeds. We only scratched the surface regarding the sights of the area - we are intending to book again for next year with friends. Wine tasting, cycling, canoeing are all on the bucket list. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty and I can thoroughly recommend to couples and families alike. A wonderful place! See you again!

My wife and I visited here in September. We hired a car in Poitiers and drove the 45 minute journey to the Gites du Marigne with ease. We were welcomed by our hosts Jeanie and Paul and shown to ‘Le Petit Maison’. The grounds are exceptionally beautiful and kept in par with the local rural area. The accommodation we had was a one bedroom small house with en-suite facilities. The house is well equipped with kitchen equipment, a welcome pack of freshly laid eggs, pastries, butter, tea, coffee etc etc.. The swimming pool was a real treat on the hot days that we had lounging around, there’s also great local villages to visit within 30 minutes drive. We both slept very well and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will be returning to explore more of the area very soon :)

We stayed in La Petite Maison. The property has been sympathetically and well renovated. The gite was was exceptionally clean with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Towels are provided for the house and pool. There was a generous welcome pack. The gites are in quiet Charente countryside. The ground are large, well maintained and with beautiful flowering plants. There is a very clean swimming pool.Numerous birds(house martins, owls, hawks etc) are present in the grounds. Be sure to check out the house martins display round the pool in the evening. Jeany and Paul are excellent, friendly hosts. Generous with their time and advise. I would highly recommend this property and our hosts.

We stayed in La Petite Maison for a week at the beginning of September. Our hosts Paul and Jeany could not have been more friendly and welcoming. There was a lovely welcome hamper with all the basics including wine! The cottage was beautifully furnished and had a private terrace with patio table, bbq and sun loungers. There is a pool for all three cottages which was warm and clean and set in lovely gardens. There is also a play area for children and the young at heart. We played pétanque (very badly). We had a peaceful week not doing too much but enjoyed days out in Poitiers and Angoulême and had some fabulous meals out. A perfect place for a chilled holiday.

Jeany and Paul- the hosts- are utterly wonderful; warm, welcoming, and incredibly friendly. They keep the entire property and land surrounding clean and beautiful- it is a joy to wake up after such a restful nights sleep, with a spotless pool awaiting your arrival! The quiet roads, adjacent to picturesque fields of sunflowers, surrounding the property would be ideal for cycling. We drove down to Charente and had a brilliant canoeing trip which was fun for all the family, though would have been equally entirely content staying in Guites du Marigne for the entirety of the trip. Our stay here was gorgeous, tranquil, restorative, and incredibly nourishing, I cannot wait to return!
