This place is like a home from home for us. We love the peace and tranquility. Val,Fred and Rachel could not do more for you. They are always on hand to help with anything you need. They always go above and beyond. The facilities are kept very clean and tidy. The actual campsite is also very well maintained. Year on year there are improvements made to the site which is always appreciated. We will look forward to seeing you next year and can’t wait for the daffodils and lambs.
We have had a seasonal pitch at the Ashes for three years. We have decided to move on only because we live in Cheshire and the M6 is a nightmare on a Friday afternoon. We have never had any noise issues, in fact we loved watching the the sheepdogs. We are dog owners and they were very welcome at the Ashes. Fred and Val could not do more for you . Guessing the moral of the story is if you don’t like the countryside don’t stay in it.
Seasonal Pitch: Packed up last weekend after a wonderful season at The Ashes, near Kendal. It's so peaceful and calm, excellent toilet and shower facilities. and Val and Fred could not be more helpful. Really looking forward to returning next year.
Stayed at The Ashes for 5 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. So peaceful and surrounded by lovely countryside. The site itself is adult only and it’s immaculate. In a great location for visiting The Lakes and Yorkshire Dales and also handy for the motorway too. The owners were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us when we had a problem with our awning. We’ve already booked our return visit for a week in April and we can’t wait.
As we come to the close of our fourth season at the Ashes I thought it was appropriate to write a short review. The site is an adults only site and has about 24 pitches roughly half being seasonal. There are also two new Shepherd’s huts that seem to be very popular. There is no pub or shops in the small hamlet of New Hutton but they are available a short drive away. The toilets and shower block are kept very clean as is the dish washing area. Val, Fred and Rachel are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The comments made by the previous reviewer complaining that they did not get a refund because they chose to cut their stay short are very unfair and saying they ‘pocketed’ the payment is quite insulting. We have enjoyed our stay and will be coming back to the Ashes for another season next year.…
