The Damson Dene Hotel is a hidden gem. It feels a world away from the hussle and bustle of Windermere but only 5+ miles in the car. A tranquil spot. Set amongst fields. The grounds itself will really come into bloom in the late Spring/Summer. Lovely little pond with red footbridge over. The opportunity to see the miniature village also. Lots of outside seated area for the warmer days. Service from all staff is 5 star, very attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic both in the afternoon and on the evening. For those who like a log fire, it is there as you enter the hotel. never got an opportunity to enjoy it, as there were others there. Never got the opportunity to use the pool etc. Noticed the 3 pods with their own hot tub, which looked cool. Our room was nice, clean and with a reasonably good hot shower, overlooking a field where we watched the farmer off load some sheep and their new lambs. We will definitely be back it truly is a hidden gem made better by the staff and food.

Lovely hotel couldn't fault it at all. All the staff were pleasant and welcoming. Our room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Swimming pool was great for a morning swim also the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were very relaxing. The food was very good 10/10. It's a 10 minute drive to Bowness. Would stay again.

A pleasant overall experience but not a place I would re-book. Positives: - The room was clean, well presented and stocked with complimentary biscuits, teas, coffee, soap etc were provided as you’d expect. - The view and hotel grounds were pleasant to look at - The staff were very friendly - The breakfast was fantastic and really the highlight for myself. Great selection of food and tasted good. Negatives: - When I arrived it seemed the hot water in the shower wasn’t working. After notifying reception and then going out, when I returned this was fixed however the issue did occur again the following morning. After running the shower for about 3 minutes it seemed to go warm. - The SPA was a real disappointment. Changing rooms quite small and when you walk in you are met with a small swimming pool. - Hot Tub is more accurately be described as a warm paddling pool rather then a Hot Tub. Very small, shallow and not all that hot. - Steam room wasn’t very hot either but did warm up after a while. Sauna was fine and plenty hot. - Gym was again, tiny with many of the machines in a sorry state. The equipment looked very old and much of it was broken snd or making squeaking noises - Drinks in the hotel bar seemed very expensive but maybe that’s par for the course in a hotel. (A single JD with coke + pornstar martini cost £17.55) Overall it wasn’t bad it’s just I felt the facilities let it down.

The hotel was very clear and it was a lovely stay. The room was a good size and the bed, duvet and pillows were extremely comfy. Unfortunately I was delayed arriving and the reception contacted me to check I was OK. I finally arrived in the early hours of the morning and all the information I needed had been left in an envelope on reception for me (including directions to my room). The following morning, the Manager found me at my table to check that I was OK and to ask if there was anything he or the staff could do. The lovely Jackie in the restaurant looked after me on both days whilst dining and was happy to chat to me as a lone traveller. The choice for breakfast was great and all fresh. I would recommend the Eggs Benedict, poached eggs cooked to perfection! I would definitely recommend this hotel and I look forward to visiting again in the future.

Loved it and will return at a later date. Customer service really professional, friendly and helpful. You dont have to leave the hotel for things to do, as theres a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and a small gym. Breakfast was lovely plenty of choice and fruit was different choice second morning, lovely view and 3 ducks were on the other side of window watching us eat our breakfast which was quite funny. Our room bathroom was very spacious and had a jacuzzi bath which was a really nice bonus after a long day of exploring bowness and windermere which is literally 10 min drive away. Plenty parking available. Cons- Drinks are quite expensive in the bar area, our bed wasnt the most comfortable bed weve stayed in at a hotel, needs a new sign at entrance lets the looks of the hotel down a bit. Gym equiptment clearly very old could maybe do with some investment but does the job. We will be back soon thankyou

Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff - 5 star service - and a beautiful, peaceful location. Good value for money, very clean and well-maintained throughout, although my room decor was a bit tired and the bathroom had a basin that didn't drain and a weak shower. The walls are thin too! However, the bed was very comfortable and it was great to have a bath and plenty of hot water for soaking tired legs after long walks. The food was slightly disappointing and the reason I didn't give 5 stars overall, but the menu does have a fair bit of variety and the bar is very well run. And there are also plenty of good pubs nearby for evening meals. I didn't get to use the spa and gym facilities on this trip but other guests seemed very happy with them. Overall a lovely stay and I'd be happy to return.

The hotel was lovely a 3 night relaxing break. Breakfast was great evening meal was ok steak a bit tough. The bar staff was very friendly nothing to much trouble . The rooms was clean bedding could have been a little bit better as the pillows a bit lumpy and quilt was more for a double bed rather than a king size bed. good night sleep till just after 7 in the morning when the cleaners seemed to gather outside our room loud and chatty in and out of a store room rustling bags. I would stay again but not in room 22.

We booked a superior room which was overlooking the duck pond at the back. We were booked on a B&B basis. The room was huge, plenty of wardrobe space, coffee/tea. The bathroom was big too and this was our first experience of a bidet toilet. I would say that the bedding isn't what we were expecting for a superior room. Could have done with more luxurious bedding. Breakfast was lovely, so much choice. The only thing I found missing was no avocado on toast option, I don't eat eggs or bacon so it would have been nice to have some other options. Location is good, lots of good walks nearby. On Monday we visited the spa as I had booked a massage. I have visited many different spas and this was disappointing. The lockers were hard to use as a lot of them are broken. They look old and weathered. The pool is a good size and we used the hot tub and sauna. All of these need a update as you can tell they are very old. Tiles are cracked, dated and in need of an uplift. I had the indulgence massage which h included a scrub, body mask and scalp massage and this was amazing. Sharon was great, very professional and really good with the treatments. I felt at ease instantly. Would really recommend having a treatment with Sharon. We ate in the restaurant on monday night and the food was good. We had been told the restaurant used to be great but has been going downhill. We were really pleased with the food and the service. Good stay overall.

I booked one night as I was keen to relax in the jacuzzi bath due to musculoskeletal problems. The bath has clearly not been cleaned properly as it left black flecks which could be scum build up or degrading finish in the system, common for poorly maintained jacuzzis. Unhelpful woman on reception said this is from the local water supply but that can only be a lie as the black flecks didn’t come out the tap as the water was clear before running the jets and the sink was also clear. I think environmental health needs to spot inspect and make sure thats not dead skin and bacteria build up. Four poster bed was falling apart and creaked with the lightest move. Very poor acoustic performance too. If you want a ‘romantic’ getaway, go elsewhere!

A very homely feel to the hotel as you enter the real fire heated reception/sitting area. Lovely location, great atmosphere in the bar area. Quiet rooms, as we were kindly upgraded to one of the best rooms in the hotel, which was over the bar and yet no noise, I would highly recommend Room 12 for a romantic and peaceful getaway, (with the most serene views). Amazing find, lovely spa facilities too. Can highly recommend the hotel restaurant, the food is both competitively priced and generous…and very delicious! No fighting for a space in the car park either, as there are ample spaces and only 15 minutes drive away from Windermere or Bowness on Windermere.
