We all experience the cold , unfriendly, uninterested Svaneti people while hiking the Mestia- Ushguli route. This guest house is another example of "please let us get your money after breakfast so you can pack your bags and leave" attitude. There were 4 of us and we arranged transport the night before for 11am the next morning. After asking 3...

What a fabulous place: ideal location at the top of the village with stunning views in all directions; meticulously clean bedrooms with comfy beds and good hot showers. Two nice balcony seating areas to relax in with a cup of tea. Sadly Natella speaks no English but she more than makes up for it with her warm smile and copious...

We visited chose this guesthouse because of the pictures on the website, they are very accurate and the bathrooms are comfortable by Western standards. We were very happy with the showers and had plenty of hot water. We were the only two guests during our stay and also had plenty of food at dinner and breakfast. The hosts were very...

The guesthouse is still new and in very good condition. It was clearly the best place we stayed in Svanetia. Roho is quite friendly, but does not speak much English. She can be helpful in arranging transport or other services, but these will not necessarily be of the best value. We only had mixed feelings about the food. Our first...

While Riho is located in one of the most remote locations of Europe, it offers relatively great service. Rooms and the shared toilets/bathrooms are clean, beds are good. Meal is delicious and made locally from mostly local ingredients. It's not a hotel, but a great guesthouse in an utterly beautiful place.

I loved Hotel Riho. Host Roland Chelidze cares for the tower behind the guesthouse, which has been in the family since the 12th century. I took photos of the views out the back, out my window, and out the front balcony onto the four villages of Ushguli. In the absence of his wife (a wedding in Mestia, I think) he...
