Travellers' Choice
Escape to the hills and dales of the Peak District National Park. Stay and enjoy our brand of stylish cottages or relax in the Manor House. The house is available for exclusive hire for groups of six guests or combined with the cottages in the grounds, making a maximum of 10 guests. Alstonefield Manor is set within an acre of walled gardens in the picturesque village of Alstonefield and provides a secluded setting in the hills above the Dovedale Valley. With miles of walking right from the door, it’s a perfect place to explore the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park. After a day walking the hills you can settle in beside the fire and take a stroll up the lane to the famous George Inn for an evening meal. We have a selection of cottages in the village and surrounding areas, all situated in unique locations providing walking and cycling routes from the door. Our cottages can accommodate two or four guests and can also be combined for larger groups. Redefining country style.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautifully designed & renovated cottage - Number 1 Church Street. Stayed for the bank holiday Easter weekend. What more can I say than we wished we lived in the property. Lovely local neighbours too. Access to the River Dove & numerous walking routes straight from the door with some real hidden gems. Gypsy Hill a must but on a dry day to keep your footing. Try Parwich a nearby chocolate box village for a pub serving a great Sunday lunch. Hartington for cheese and supplies. You will never tire of Alstonfield and the beautiful walks surrounding it. Thank you Rob and Jo for creating such a beautiful haven. Carol & Gaby

We stayed at fern cottage for 3 nights over Easter. 4 adults stayed In this beautiful house. The house is well equipped and wonderfully decorated throughout. Beds are super comfortable, they are on the tall side so my elderly grandma could not get in the king however was fine with the twin room (which they kindly turned into a super king) pillows are a little soft but most people wil enjoy these. Gardens were gorgeous and we enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine with the dog. The hill is a little steep but not too bad it’s harder because there’s lots of pot holes so drive up slowly. Lovely big parking spot to fit the two cars we had. Area is beautiful & we’d stay again. Our favourite room was the conservatory to sit in, this would be more comfortable with a sofa in than the dining chairs. (But we still made use of it!) it does have one extra seat which is comfortable to lay on

Wonderful home from home rural escape in luxury high spec cottage in gorgeous Alstonefield village. Walks from the doorstep into fabulous surroundings and other places of interest nearby. Just be aware that there are no shops within close walking distance and you need to arrive with provisions.

We stayed three nights at the Cottage, which was lovely and perfect for our break. The whole area was beautiful and our cottage was really comfortable. There were some refreshments tea, coffee, milk etc and everything was catered for should we wish to spend time inside and fend for ourselves. The owners were very sociable and welcoming too. The bed was very comfortable and we were able to relax after a busy day walking. No problems at all and we enjoyed our short break.

Charming cottage, tastefully and practically decorated. Alstonefield is such a pretty and perfect base for numerous walks from the door and no distance to explore other lovely towns and villages. We had an outstanding dinner at The George in Alstonefield. And, delicious lunches in pubs and cafés that we visited. I’m not surprised that other reviewers have returned many times I would definitely consider doing so for the stunning scenery and the top quality accommodation.

We loved our mid-week break in this cosy, beautifully designed cottage. The mezzanine bedroom, with its very comfortable king-sized bed ensured an excellent night’s sleep. Underfloor heating and additional heating maintained a toasty temperature. The setting, looking out on to a large garden and open countryside, was picturesque and peaceful. Alstonefield is an attractive, unspoilt village with an exceptional restaurant, the George. Pancakes in the Village Hall on Shrove Tuesday were also much appreciated. We look forward to a return visit.

Lovely comfortable cottage with the benefit of roaring log fires at this time of year. Beautiful village and the excellent George restaurant a few steps away. We have been staying in one of Rob and Jo’s cottages for several years now and always have a lovely winter break there
