We knew nothing about this site having found it in an ancient dog-friendly site book. We were really pleased that we did find it! Online booking was easy and, when we had a couple of queries and needed to request a date change Sandy, who answered the phone, was super helpful - thank you. We had rented a semi-serviced pitch which was ideal and beautifully situated in Bluebell field. For the time of year the site was pretty busy but not uncomfortably so and we had great weather for a week. "Poppy's" restaurant and shop was a fantastic part of the site with really good food, generous servings and inexpensive, in fact, we decided that the Fish 'n Chips that we had on Friday night was one of the best we'd ever had! We had our small dog with us, and although he wasn't allowed into any of the main buildings, he was allowed to sit with us in the outside, covered area of the restaurant. The bar was open in the evenings and again, tye drinks were very reasonably priced. The site precautions and rules ref COVID-19 were very good and neither particularly intrusive nor over the top - very easy to cope with. We had read some reviews saying that the dual-carriageway that ran alongside the site was very noisy 24/7 - we found it completely the opposite and no problem at all. If we had to make a couple of "picky" points they would be that there was only one dedicated dog-waste bin and the general waste bin was at the bottom of the site but no big deal. So good we booked a return trip for 2021!…
Me and my partner stayed here for a while when we visited Torquay! Can't fault its proximity to Torquay or the facilities! Toilets nipping clean and pitches serviceable. My issues with the site was it was just off a dual carriage way which was busy all day and night and its larger than sites we normally stay at so felt it wasn't as quiet as other places we have stopped! No fault of the owners and we were greeted with big smiles, laughs and kindness :)
Would like to thank Sandie for her hard work in a pretty busy clubhouse for the last 3 nights. Giving table service to everyone single handed and always with a smile. Thankyou Sandie very much appreciated.
We found Widdicombe Farm to be very welcoming with spotlessly clean and modern facilities in the shower and toilet block. The pitches are good and spacious. We had initially booked for three nights but stayed for six. A good location for visiting all areas of South Devon which is beautiful. The restaurant was very good and particularly George, who served us was very helpful and accommodating. Also, Gordon’s Bar was very popular and staff very welcoming. We enjoy walking and were able to visit local villages on foot but a car is advisable if you aren’t such a keen walker. Overall, I would not hesitate in recommending this site to anyone.
Couldn’t fault our short 2 night stay , receptionist very helpful , Sunday lunch good from the restaurant , clean toilets and shower block and the bar was open in the evenings , we would not hesitate to use this lovely site again :)
