Cortijo la Estrella comprises a total of 8 rural self-catering apartments, set in the foothills of the Sierra de las Estancias in six acres of almond grove surrounded by spectacular scenery. All our apartments are self contained and the nearest town of Velez Rubio is a 10 minute drive. Facilities include a bar, terraces, barbecues, table tennis table, petanca pitch, football pitch and a 12x5 metre seasonal swimming pool. With easy access from four major airports and a 40 minute drive to the nearest beaches Cortijo la Estrella is an ideal base from where to enjoy a holiday. Your stay at Cortijo la Estrella can be as relaxing or active as you like. You can enjoy the unspoiled environment, art, architecture, historical and archaeological sites, as well as many outdoor sports and activities. Within one hour you can visit the biggest accessible Geode in the world in Pulpí or relax on the beach. An area of outstanding natural beauty ideal for couples, families or a group of friends.

Looked for a place for the night passing by and were lucky to find this place. Very nice apartment fully equipped. Remember to bring food to cock in the apartment since there are no restaurant. Lovely pool and nice area among the mountains. Warm and helpful welcome. Can gladly recommend this place.

Perfect relaxation spot! Spent 2 weeks here in July and loved every second of it. Apartments have everything you need and are very clean, and the pool is perfect. The surrounding area is stunning. I got to see proper Spanish towns, seaside and parks, after having previously just spent time in more touristy areas. Would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Heidi and Nick made us so welcome and the views are just to die for its comfortable accommodation and they were there with helpful advice when needed. The location is perfect to relax and chill .IE. swimming pool and table tennis too, yet all within a few minutes drive of the motorway system and less than ten minutes from the town of Velez Rubio. perhaps were a little biased because were buying a property there but its very relaxed there. It has all you would need to unwind from life

We stayed here in September, as we were looking to buy a new home in this area. So this gave us a good insight to the Velez area. We found it to be a really beautiful area with stunning views, and have found a great house there! Cortijo Estrella was a great place to stay, we just hired a car from the airport and an hour and a half later were settling in to a relaxing holiday/viewing trip.. The self catering cottage was very nice with lovely views, and fully equipped with a hob,microwave and fridge,and TV..The owners Heidi and Nick had kindly left us some food items,,which is a great idea until you can get to the local supermarket. We also had use of the swimming pool and sun loungers which was lovely to sit out and bask in the warming sun.There is also a bar on the premises where you can have a tipple or two ! A short drive away is the lovely authentic town of Velez Rubio, which has shops,restaurants and tapas bars, a lovely plaza near the church, also a convent and a museum Also the pretty town of Velez Blanco with its historical castle is very close at hand too. We would highly recommend this area and Cortijo La Estrella to anyone looking to holiday in the real Spain, and Heidi and Nick were great hosts, thanks again. Julie and Tom…

Spent a relaxing 8 days here in the summer and fell in love with the Spanish mountains. The apartments are fantastic - simple, clean, comfortable and perfect for a rural retreat. Heidi and Nick took great care of us including booking one of the best Sunday lunches ever at the nearby Casa Joya. We particularly enjoyed it in July when it was quiet and mainly couples. August got a little busier but we still had a fantastic time and can't wait to go back.

Heidi, Nick and family deserve full marks for their excellent hospitality. They provided clean, comfortable accommodation and were there with helpful advice when needed. The location is perfect, offering beautiful vistas by day with crystal clear views of the night sky yet all within a few minutes drive of the motorway system and less than ten minutes from the beautiful town of Velez Rubio.

Just returned from a week's stay in this beautiful, tranquil location and feel fully restored. The apartments were attractive and comfortable, and spotlessly clean, and the owners couldn't have done more to help make our stay more pleasant. We explored the lovely views with walks around the area, whilst our children took full advantage of the good sized pool and games room. In the evenings the night sky was awe-inspiring as the rural location meant we could see the stars and Milky Way in its full glory. This was our third and longest stay, and we intend to return.

We found this place to be just what was advertised and exactly what we needed. Just close enough to the beach to be a great day out and far enough into the back country to ensure you get peace and often a wonderful breeze. The pool is a great relief in the heat of the day. Definitely going again.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped. We arrived late evening and were met with a welcome drink, in the fridge was fresh milk, butter, bread, jam, Quince jelly. There were tea bags, coffee, sugar. Everything we needed until we could go to the nearest town the next day. The complex is in peaceful, relaxing countryside, surrounded with almond and olive trees but only a 10 minute drive from Velez Rubio a typically Spanish town where we found good quality restaurants, a variety of small shops and so cheap compared to English prices. We found we could park the car anywhere, free, the locals were friendly and welcoming. We would go back tomorrow and will definitely return next year.

We cannot praise La Estrella enough! We stayed for 2.5 weeks with our two kids - 7 and 11 yrs, and had a fantastic time. Our apartment was immaculately clean and provided everything that we needed for our stay, including a supply of beautifully laundered towels. There was ample space, with 2 double bedrooms, a lounge / dining room, a kitchen area, bathroom, and use of the outside spaces. There were barbaques that we could use, and our hosts were extremely helpful in helping us with anything we needed help with.....planning trips, booking tickets for the Alhambra, recommending restaurants etc etc. Our apartment had beautiful views over almond /olive groves and the surrounding countryside, and we had the use of a patio outside the apartment, where we could sit / eat meals whilst watching the sun set. In July / August there did not seem to be any mosquitos or biting insects at all, so evenings out were very pleasant. Our children loved playing table tennis in the 'games room', as well as spending many hours in the beautiful pool. The atmosphere was relaxing and very conducive to really unwinding. The nearest town is approx 8 min drive away, with a great market and many lovely restaurants - we were amazed at how cheap buying food / eating out is, compared to in England or France! We enjoyed the fact that we could drive to the sea / to towns etc which were far more busy and touristic, and yet retreat back to our quiet, tranquil apartment afterwards. This is a quiet, friendly, well-loved place to have a holiday or to be nourished away from tourism and nightclubs etc…
