Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a peaceful retreat on Tunnel Mountain in Banff, AB. The lodge is surrounded by 9 acres of towering fir, pine, and spruce trees, yet just a 15 minute walk or 3 minute drive from the shopping, nightlife and restaurants that are on offer in downtown Banff. A favourite visitor pastime is to observe the deer and elk who frequently nibble on the lawn, right outside the lodge's windows. The lodge has 108 guest rooms, an outdoor hot tub, and several options for dining, making it the ideal location for a weekend getaway, wedding, or corporate retreat. Buffalo Mountain Lodge is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts' family of companies. Rooms at the lodge have fieldstone wood-burning fireplaces, cozy duvets, LCD televisions and Blu-ray players. Many feature patios or balconies. Each room has been carefully decorated to reflect the mountain lifestyle in Banff-the accommodation is anything but 'cookie cutter.' The outdoor stainless steel hot tub is best enjoyed after an invigorating hike, bike or ski on one of the nearby trails-or perhaps to aid digestion after a sumptuous meal in the lodge's highly acclaimed restaurant, Sleeping Buffalo.

Unfortunately I wasn’t told there wasn’t a hot tub, to say I was disappointed was an understatement. I was soo pumped to do that, and then I got thinking CRMR should have told me that when I booked, and second offered a serious discount. Neither happened.

Sam, Victoria and the rest of the hotel staff were brilliant - very friendly, helpful and polite. The room was wonderful, particularly sitting in front of an actual fireplace comforted by the smell, sight and sound of a crackling fire.

Greetings, Thank you for your inquiry! To walk downtown to Banff Avenue from Buffalo Mountain Lodge is about 1 kilometer in distance. It takes about 10 minutes to walk down the hill, but 15-20 on the way back up. We do have a complimentary shuttle for our lodge guests though and would love to drive you to and from Banff Avenue for convenience if that's what you prefer! There is also a bus stop right outside the lodge with regularly scheduled pickups through Banff Roam Public Transit. Thank you and see you soon! Sincerely, Caitlyn M, Guest Relations Team

We did not eat at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge on Christmas. We attended a wedding and ate at the reception. Which was good.

Greetings, Thank you for your inquiry! We have a room type called the Buffalo Rooms that feature one separate bedroom with either one king or two queen beds, and a living space with kitchenette. The standard Lodge rooms are our base room type, then Buffalo, then Premier Suites if you are looking at the rooms in terms of pricing; the Buffalo rooms are our mid-priced option. Buffalo Mountain Lodge is located on Tunnel Mountain Road, about 1 kilometer from Banff Avenue. We do however offer a complimentary shuttle for our guest should they wish to head down into town. We hope to be able to accommodate you soon! Congratulations on this special time for your family! Sincerely, Caitlyn M, Guest Relations Team
