We stayed 2 nights at Irwin's and will go back again. Staff was friendly and efficient. We visited during COVID and felt very comfortable with their protocols and the cleanliness of the property. We had to book a time to use the hot tub which was very easy and felt that we were given ample time to enjoy it as well as very safe with the cleanliness. It's a difficult time for hotels and we thought Irwin's did a fantastic job

We stayed 2 nights at Irwin's Mountain Inn in Banff in July 2022 and I would not stay there again. The parking is limited for vans/trucks and you have to race to find a spot. Our room was on the 3rd floor and it was not very clean. The mini kitchen sink was full of water spots and the coffee maker's filter holder was not not washed or cleaned (there were no coffee filters in the kitchen either so we couldn't have coffee in room).
The carpet in the room was very old and made my socks dirty. The AC filter was super dusty and hasn't been cleaned in months! You can literally see a layer of 5 cm of dust on the AC filter! The hotel is located a 5-7 minute walk from downtown Banff so not recommended for those who are unable to walk a lot. There was no water cooler only an ice machine so you have to buy your own water bottles. The nice thing about this room was the bathroom amenities (shampoo/conditioner/body wash were attached to the wall so no mess and no small samples to use). However they clearly left notes in the room that if you take lotion or soap, you will be charged $20 on your credit card per item. For a $400 per night charge, I find that to be a little disappointing!

The highlight of our stay at Irwin's was the staff. The woman who checked us in was well prepared with helpful information, and Chris went above and beyond the day of checkout and definitely gets my vote for 'employee of the month'! We had a very comfortable room that appeared to have been recently renovated since our last stay so value-for-money was great. Irwin's location is easy walking to all the amenities of downtown Banff with easy access off the main street and free underground parking. We will be sure to stay again.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while attending a conference in Banff. This hotel has zero sound proofing between rooms and around the doors. The heating system is loud and runs for 30 seconds and shuts off, kept waking up from either being too cold or from the ceiling shaking from people walking above my room. Also when someone walks down the hallway the room shakes and it sounds like they are in your room, very poorly built building. I could hear other guests tv or music from the other rooms and could even hear my neighbours talking when I was in the bathroom. After 2 nights of no sleep I could not wait to go home to my own bed. I also had breakfast in the restaurant downstairs, it was very salty and small portions, only 8 small hash browns on plate and fruit that still had part of the peel still on it. I gave the hotel 2 stars because at least the room was clean, other than that I would of given it a zero due to quality of hotel stay.

We stayed at Irwin's for the second time since November. It's an older hotel, but has been renovated. It was very clean & comfortable. Our room had two beds, a sitting area, small fridge, coffee maker, microwave & bar sink. We were also able to use the hot tub, which was very relaxing. During this pandemic, you book a time to use the hot tub, and only the people from your room use it at that time. The facility is disinfected in between uses. We would recommend this hotel, as it appears to be locally owned. The staff are also very friendly & accommodating.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel! The room we stayed in had been updated and was exceptionally clean. We ate breakfast each morning in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent - well above the typical breakfast fare. There is an underground parkade for parking but the ceilings are very low (our son hit his head walking to the elevator) but it was fine for our SUV. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Our kids used the WIFI for their university classes without any issues. The hotel is located on the strip close to shopping and restaurants and for the price, it definitely was well worth it!

We stayed here last year and at that time had issues with the Wi-Fi. This time it was with the beds and the temperature of the room. First off, the layout of the room was odd. I booked 2 queen beds and the one bed was right at the door. I prefer a firm mattress and this one was very soft. I had to be careful getting up out of bed as I felt like I could fall right off the bed as the edge was so mushy. The room was hot and we couldn't turn on the AC as the front desk said they disabled it as it still wasn't AC weather yet in Banff. They suggested we use the fan, which we did, but all it did was blow around the hot air. The bedroom window didn't open, and I wasn't comfortable leaving the balcony door open overnight. There was also something in the room that both my son and I were allergic to. Not sure if it was the abundance of feather pillows or something else in the room. The bottom line, years ago we had no issues with this hotel but the last 2 visits have been very mediocre. I won't be staying here again.

We stayed for 2 nights. The location is ideal, just a few blocks from the main part of downtown Banff. The front desk staff were friendly and the room was clean. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable but it was ok for just a couple of nights. What made me rate them as only 3 was the WiFi. The first night we could "connect" but it said there was "no internet". In the morning I asked the front desk staff if there was a dead zone in our room, or perhaps there was an issue, and she didn't think there was but would follow up as she understood how frustrated we were. We briefly had a connection in the late afternoon, but it didn't last long and couldn't connect in the evening. Not having WiFi is a first world problem I realize, but it was frustrating not having it for our entire stay.

Extremely disappointed with this hotel. Website says free parking, but there is not enough parking for patrons. They do have underground parking but unless you have a small hatchback, don’t count on parking your Jeep Wrangler underground as it will be over the height limit.
Please change your wording on the website to say “limited free parking”and indicate height restrictions for underground parking.
Our room was on the second floor, right above the back door of the restaurant. We could hear all the conversations, yelling, and moving of crates and boxes from the restaurant. We had to call and ask the front desk to tell the restaurant workers to be mindful of the noise. The reaction from the front desk was that they were aware of this as they have to advise the restaurant personnel “all the time”. Why put someone in this room if this happens “all the time”!
Complimentary coffee and tea was awesome, except it didn’t work.
The coffee maker would only heat up about 1/8 of a cup of water.
Our room had an outdoor “patio” feature. I opened the door to find a railing as wide as the door and the “patio” was about 8 inches wide.
We did not understand this at all. Made no sense. The bathroom was clean.
For the amount of money we paid for this room it wasn’t worth the frustration.

How close is it to the ski resorts? Is there a shuttle?
Answer from Derek M
8 contributions
There are shuttle buses to sunshine ski resort from right outside. They pick up all along Banff main street and pretty frequent. Majority of the hotels in Banff (including Irwin's) are located along the same road and all rely on the same shuttle buses to get to the ski hills. Hope that was helpful.

Hello, is there a weight limit for dogs?
Answer from Mgr-IMI
Banff, Canada3 contributions
Hello there is not a weight restriction but there is a location restriction. Pet Rooms are located on the First Floor only and are subject to a pet fee. Please ensure pet requests are made at the time of reservation. That is very important.
