My husband and I booked a cabin here for our anniversary this year. The drive to Jasper was absolutely beautiful, but when we arrived we were definitely ready to relax. Check-in time is 4pm, and we actually ended up being a bit early. The lady at the desk was friendly, efficient, and did a great job explaining the resort and...

Fantastic place for a quiet stay walking distancie from the village. The river by the lodge and the mountains sight are breathtaking. Absolutely recommend to stay here, for couples or families with children.

Considering the cabins are older but the experience overall was good. The location is a bit out of Jasper so it didn't have the congestion of being in the town. It is only a few minutes out of town. the staff was available and helpful. The ability to get information and book events from the desk was a good idea...

The facility is located in a beautiful place surrounded by rivers and lake. The stay was great with a friendly staff. The location is very near to town center and also easy access to highways.Overall value for the money.

We loved the place in front of the river, the lodges were nice although a bit small for a family with two kids of 11 and 15. Hardly any place to store the luggage. Stuff at front desk did not make us feel welcome.

The recommendation for this hotel in a popular guidebook series called it "warm and cozy." I do not find dark and crowded places to be either warm or cozy. Our cabin at Tekarra Lodge was only slightly bigger than a hotel room, yet it had a queen bed (pushed against the wall so one person had to climb over the...

We spent 6 days in Tekarra in mid Aug. 4 adults and 2 lively boys lived quite comfortably. Kitchen was well supplied - pots, pans and baking pan. Fireplace was great on a cool day, drier wood would have helped. An elk walking by the cottage was a highlight. Great setting, close to town and trails.

I loved staying here, wished we had arrived earlier and/or could stay longer. We would have liked to do more walking on the trails and sitting in the chairs overlooking the river. We had one of the best meals ever for our anniversary celebration, with a great trained waiter from Scotland. Only too bad its so far away from home...

My husband and I decided to stay here for our anniversary. The cabin was very nice. It had all the amenities and was as expected, a rustic cabin. We enjoyed the fireplace and found the room and bed cozy. There were many walking and hiking trails right out the door. We tried 3 different trails and enjoyed them all. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled deep in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Tekarra Lodge enjoys an enviable location within Jasper National Park, the largest of the national mountain parks in Canada, 4200 square miles in area. Jasper became a National Park in 1907 and the town site's first buildings were constructed in 1911, then Jasper was known as the town of Fitzhugh. Tekarra Lodge is located across the river from the base of its namesake, Tekarra Mountain. Tekarra Mountain, towering 2635 meters above us is named for the Iroquois guide and hunter who accompanied Sir James Hector on his expedition through the Rocky Mountains during the mid-1850s. The skill and devotion of the guide Tekarra saved the lives of the members of that expedition. He sustained and fed them during the grim and bitter winter with caribou that he hunted on the mountain. It was because of this devotion that Sir James named the mountain Tekarra. The lodge grounds form the banks of the confluence of the Athabasca and Miette rivers. This land is maintained in its natural state, and offers a wonderful study for nature lovers. Tekarra's marked nature walk, and the Indian totem poles give pleasure to all ages. The area and history in and around the property is a fascinating one. One of the first settlements of Jasper called Henry House may have been located adjacent to the lodge on the south side of the river. Even today, there is still indication of an old homestead and some outbuildings. Tekarra Lodge was built circa 1947 and initially consisted of only a few cabins, some of which are standing today. ... more   less
