The Jasper Downtown Hostel garners praise for its sparkling cleanliness and prime central location, making it a hit with guests who appreciate being close to local attractions. The hospitable staff receive kudos for their friendly service, enhancing the hostel's cozy and comfortable atmosphere, despite some comments about the lobby music being too loud. While the well-equipped kitchens are a highlight, the small room sizes and the need for mattress updates are noted by some visitors. Additionally, a few guests mention the value could be better, considering the slightly steep pricing for a hostel.

Our room was about 8x10 with two single beds beside each other. this allowed for me and my son to sleep separately but still in the same space. The room had electric heat, a wash basin and a shared shower room and bathroom (two separate rooms) down the hall very close by. The position of plug ins for electronics, the shelving and lots of hangers was perfect for the reason we were there - to ski.

Me and my friends stayed in a hostel for the first time ever I was not quite sure what to expect. I have always wanted to but was never quite sure if it would be my cup of tea. If all hostels are as well put together is this place then I would gladly repeat the experience. Staff was helpful, rooms were clean as well as the bathroom. When you check in your handed clean bedding and a clean towel . Our rooms was upstairs I did not see an elevator . When you walk into the room there is a bathroom with a toilet sink and mirror .. there is a separate room where you shower. I thought this to be a good ideas that you did not have to wait for anyone to finish their shower to use the bathroom. Our room had four bunkbeds . Each bed had a curtain for privacy and the mattresses were very comfortable . There’s also a common area on the main floor and a quart area outside where you can sit . There is only four parking stalls in the back so if you’re driving you will have to pay for street parking if it is between the hours of 9 AM and 9 PM. After 9 PM parking is free. We arrived in the evening and because it was later on a weekday there was lots of parking available. We paid approximately $77 per person generally I would think that would be pretty high for a Hostel but when you consider the fact that it is Jasper and hotels are $400 per night I’m sure that price is very reasonable for downtown Jasper . We did see other hostels for less but they did not seem to either meet our needs or the reviews were not satisfactory. The only negative was one of our roommates was sick , coughing all night , and clearly congested. It kept My friend awake and she was concerned about getting sick before flying home. however that has nothing to do with the establishment and something to maybe consider when staying in a hostel with shared accommodations .. you have no control over the strangers you’re bunking with . Overall great stay and good experience.

We had two bunk beds in the room which is good if you just want a bed to sleep during the night. But I would not return in this hostel if I have another option with the same price.
Beds got curtains which is good for privacy, also everyone have their own fan and light and a plug but my fan was not working.
This is good for a short stay but better get a more decent hotel room if the price is not too far.
Make sure to get your own toiletries and own hair drier and everything else because basically you're only getting a bed.

The room consisted of two bunk beds - one single and one double, with private washroom, kitchenette, two small tables (one folded against the wall), two chairs and doors, one of which gave immediate access to the patio area. The room was also clean, without any sign of wear or air conditioning with two ceiling lights and two switches that turned off both rather than individually. There were also USB receptacles and lights over the bunks which was nice to see. The only irritant was a refrigerator that never ceased making a noticeably noise. Staff were friendly, and the outside patio seating with umbrellaed tables next to a low metal fence on the corner of Patricia Street and Pyramid Lake Road was a real bonus!

I was here for 2 nights and foud it to be a clean minimalist space, in a great location with easy walkable access to food and amenities. The kitchen in the basement is not the best as it has no windows but i was not big on cooking so didn't mind the space for having my breakfast.

The staff are great, i was first given a room that was occupied by a group and had all their bags laying around, but when i asked the staff, she immediately helped find me another room with solo/couple travellers where the open space was respected

Cost benefit is good. I got a good price for the room.
Rooms were nice, but some were a bit small. Bed and curtains to keep privacy, with a reading light.
My main concern is that there were no covid measures at all. They had a lower capacity since it was not high season anymore, but they still had no limitations for number of people per room. Rooms were not cleaned every day (I throwed stuff in the trash and it was cleaned after 2 days only)

I've been staying here for 2 weeks so far and this hostel has been great. The staff are super friendly and the kitchen is large, well stocked always very clean and organised. There's a nice living area close to reception with a TV and board games. The beds are really comfortable and I have a great view of the mountains from my room. They have nice heavy shower curtains so you don't get cold coming out of the shower in winter. Its across the street from a grocery store and right beside one of the most popular bars in town. All in all it's been a wonderful experience staying here. Would definitely recommend :)

The beds and kitchen were awesome! The beds have very sturdy frames and walls at the head and feet. and the other side with the wall. The black-out curtains stretch all the way across. The beds were not shaky so movement in one bunk does not shake the other bunk. Some beds had one or more hooks to hang items. All beds had small working fans, lights, plug-ins for charging phones, etc. and a small shelf. The mattress, pillow, comforter, and sheets were all very cozy. There were several hooks all around the room, which were helpful to hang wet clothes for all (it was raining in Jasper). Each room has a two separate rooms, one with a shower and one with a toilet/sink so you could go to the bathroom even if someone else was in the shower.
The kitchen was very well organized with four working stations, multiple sinks, large cooling fridges, a freezer, and a system in place with tubs and tags for labeling food. There was cutlery available, and if you wanted dishware you could check it out from the front desk. There were also several long tables and it was clean.
In the hall (outside the room), there were also several small and large lockers, separate private shower rooms, if needed.
The location was excellent! It was right around the corner at the very end of the main street of restaurants and shops.

The hostel was very clean and overall the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a private room that lacked air conditioning unfortunately. When I requested to trade in some bathtowels for clean ones (we were staying 3 nights and 4 days) they said that they "don''t usually trade in towels". There were no washcloths at all. The cable did not work at first and the gentleman who came to assist me made an assumption that perhaps because I am older I was not tech savy. Very wrong to make assumptions. It was not operator error at all but rather that the cable was not set up properly. Also, they allowed smoking in the garden area which wafted into our room all night long. For the amount of money we paid (over $930 CAD for 3 nights) I felt that these inconviences were not acceptable. I was wearing a mask and at checkout the people at reception just ignored me until I lightly tapped on the plexiglass hanging wall in front. I merely wanted to let them know that I had checked out early so they could clean the room if they wished. No thank you. It was sad for me as I have been hosteling for many years but will have to rethink that.
