Like most HI Hostels, it has a certain charm about it, but of all the hostels I've visited in Canada it wasn't one of the best. I stayed in a large dorm, about 40 beds or so which, on account of the amount of people in there, would get quite smelly by the morning. There is

Thanks for sharing your review. I am sorry to read that you were woken by noise in the hostel during the night, and that you were unable to connect to the wifi. HI is currently building a brand new HI Jasper facility, walking distance from the train and bus station, as well as the town of Jasper. The new facility is being purpose-built as a hostel, with 4 bed dorms and more private rooms, with our sleeping rooms being located on upper floors, above the common spaces. I hope you had a great visit to the National Park.

Clean with spacious kitchen and relaxing area. I was surprised by free towels the hostel provides. Fire place as well:) The hostel is linked with the train station by shuttle so if you don't have a car you can still get there couple times a day. If you are staying longer as for

Cheap stay. We stayed in a 30 female dorm. There’s no plugs near all beds but in some places. Staff is not that friendly but okay. There’s a really nice kitchen and lounge area. There’s lockers to put your belongings under the bed.

Thank you for sharing your review of HI Jasper. I am sorry to read that you found the staff to be not that friendly. We do try to welcome our guests warmly and help out with travel plans and suggestions. HI has begun work on building a new HI Jasper which will replace our current building and will have more private rooms, and 4 bed dormitories. Each bed is being designed with it's own reading light, small shelf and plug outlet. In our current older building we do not have the wiring necessary to provide individual beds. To address this, we have provided power bars where possible, so that there are more outlets for guests to use for charging devices. I hope that you enjoyed your visit to Jasper National Park.

I tried a few HI hostels around Canada and this one is average. It has good cleanliness in common areas (kitchen, bathrooms) and sheets are quite clean. Lots of plugs in the common area as well. Some downsides: dorms accommodate 26 beds, each of them has just a small cupboard

Thank you for sharing your review. I am glad to read that you found the hostel to be clean. In our current older ski chalet building, we are limited in the electrical wiring available in the building, and also to the available space. We have installed many power bars in the dorms where possible, to provide more plugs for charging. We have 2 parking areas available, which are usually sufficient for our guests. If the parking areas do get tight, our staff are happy to help find another parking solution on our property. HI is currently building a new HI Jasper, which will replace our current location and is being purpose-built as a hostel. The new HI Jasper will be walking distance from the train/bus station. It will include smaller 4 bed dorms, and each bed is planned to have it's own larger locker space, an electrical outlet, reading light, and shelf. I do hope that you enjoyed your visit to Jasper.

I am satisfied with my stay at HI Jasper. Something simple and rustic (while also having running water and electricity) is just what I was seeking and I found it here. Depending on where your bed is you might be far from an electical outlet, though, so overnight charging might

Thank you for sharing your experience at HI Jasper. I am glad to read that you were satisfied with your stay. While the doors to both large dorms are unlocked and open at all times, we do have lockers under each bed for guests to store their belongings. We do have a couple of nights a week when our staff do host activities, such as group Stand-Up Paddleboarding, BBQ nights and Smores nights, and guests are able to start a bonfire at our firepit any night (so long as there are no Fire Bans in place in the National Park). Unfortunately, on the nights when we have only 1 staff member working, that staff member can begin a bonfire if asked, but is not able to spend extended time outside or organizing events as they are quite busy at the Front Desk checking in guests, answering questions, and doing housekeeping tasks. I am glad that Cait made such a positive impression on you! We are glad to have her positive energy here at HI Jasper!

We are located about 7km from town and up a mountain road. During our summer season, there is a shuttle run by Sundog transportation going from the town up to the hostel several times during the day from around 8:30am to 5:00pm. This shuttle costs $5 each time you take it, and runs until October. During our winter season, we provide a shuttle to town, leaving the hostel at 8:20am and 6:20pm. The same shuttle returns to the hostel from town at 8:30am and 6:30pm. Outside of those times, you would need to take a taxi which costs around $20 each way.

We usually have some space available over the holidays, though it is busier over the holidays than most of the rest of the winter season.

Hi Maxine and Steve, The best way to check this is through us directly, on the HI Canada website or to call us directly at the phone number on our website. Our private rooms are already booked for most of August, and much of September.

Hi Lauren, The hostel does not host any celebrations for New Year’s Eve as we like to keep the hostel quiet at night. On the other hand, all the bars and clubs of Jasper will be hosting parties that you won't want to miss. HI-Jasper is definitely a great place to spend your holidays. We hope to see you soon, Sincerely, Michel, HI-Regional Manager

Do u recommend to bring any "stuff" I will need there..???
Hi there, Thank you for your inquiry! HI-Jasper does have a fully equipped kitchen and all the rooms come with ben linens, pillows and blankets. All you need to bring are your own personal toiletries, clothes and groceries! If you're a light sleeper, ear plugs are always a good idea too. We do recommend bringing a couple different jackets as the fall weather can be unpredictable. Layering always works best. Jasper in the fall is absolutely spectacular so be sure to bring a camera as well! We look forward to seeing you at the hostel! Sincerely, The team at HI-Jasper

"private rooms good value and best chance of sleep for 2 to 3"
"Go for private rooms, dorms are like 60+ people in one room"
"Ask for a lower bed. I prefer close to windows, if you do not ask for one further away."
"These are dorm rooms; for families specify that you are a family so that they can co-locate you."
