Centrally located and very close to everything- shops, restaurants and train station. Rooms are clean and has what we need. Price is expensive compared to the city but relatively least expensive compared to other hotels in Jasper- it's peak season. Very knowledgable and friendly staff. Tried the ribs from Papa George's and loved it!…
The historic building and its inner decoration is part of the experience of staying at this hotel. Few rooms and a little expensive (though it was one of the cheapest despite of the peak season), but very comfortable beds, separate wi-fi on each room and even a TV with Chromecast (very unexpected, but it was a huge deal to play some music and Netflix the time we spent inside). We had a room with a beautiful view to the railway and the mountains. The location is ideal for those who want to get to know the town by walking or to rent a bike in one of the near businesses and make a tour in the forest. Not giving 5 stars rating because of the lack of elevator, but it is understandable due to the antiquity of the building.…
If you arrive at night, then currently the lit up sign above the entrance shines out with "Astoria el" and I have to say that this probably sums the place up. We had two small rooms in what is really a tired and quite run down hotel. Rooms are available with a view of the main street, across the iconic railway line and onto the mountains beyond. Not sure if it is the luck of the draw or the cost, but we had a view across a flat roof to another set of room windows looking straight back to us. There was a fridge in the room but it rattled noisily all day and night. The wash basin was small and right next to the bed with a small screen separating them and the toilet and shower were in an ensuite small room facing each other. No safe in the room, but I get the feeling that security isn't a problem. In the whole trip to the region, I never (possibly naively) felt worried about theft. Having said all this, the staff were very pleasant, polite and helpful. And the housekeeping always seemed busy. It is located right on the high street in the middle of Jasper, so within walking distance of everything and although I would not say that there was an abundance of parking spots in the public car park opposite the hotel, we managed to find one every time we needed, so there seem to be enough. On check-in you are given a 10% discount ticket per room for a dinner meal in Papa George's restaurant next door. I can't say that I loved the hotel and of the three hotels that we stayed in in Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, it was by far the worst value for money. But availability was there when we needed it at a price and it served as a base for the wonderful areas around the beautiful National Park.…
Only accommodation available at short notice but not a lot to rave about in terms of positive feedback. Very small room despite the hefty price tag. Was a battle to find somewhere to store our suitcases and navigate around them between the bed and bathroom. Good location but the room was only really good for sleeping; we certainly weren't inclined to want to spend a lot of time there.…
This hotel is in a great loaction with the train station just over the road and close to all shops. Hotel has no elavator, so pack light. The bed was comfortable, but the room was a little tired and needs refreshing.
