Central North Nanaimo location. Walking distance to a small mall and Montana's restaurant. Modern looking outside but Victorian inside- furnishings and decor. A small comfortable whisky bar (couches & a couple tables) off the lobby. Nice restaurant off the lobby with a limited menu - good place for a quite breakfast or dinner. Prices a bit above average. Room was... More

I thought the hotel was going to be nice on first appearance, however I was soon disappointed on all fronts. The room I was given was on the 3rd floor with 2 Queen beds. The green carpet in the room was old, stained and very dirty. The bathroom was old with peeling paint. The beds are hard and uncomfortable, they... More

We tracked down this lovely hotel just so I could have a Nanimo Bar Martini. By far the best martini in the province and only $10.00! Of course one can never go wrong with a delicious vodka concoction topped off with real whipped cream and toasted coconut. Love love loved it! My husband had a Caesar (as usual), his loss........ We booked one night and stayed three. This is a really nice hotel, in a good location. Staff are very friendly and the rooms are spotless. Our first room had a peculiar smell, but they moved us without any problem. We think it was the kitchen exhaust, so ask for a room away from the kitchen area. We didn't plan... More

We came here specifically for the Afternoon Tea. I wish we hadn't bothered! It was $27 per person which is Ok if it fills you up......this didn't. We shared 2 'Teas' with our 2 kids as we were told they were big (plus $27 for a kids lunch is expensive) We left feeling unsatisfied and wished we'd ordered other food... More

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Nanaimo on a Saturday evening to find out dispite what their website states under amenities there was no heated pool. When asked about it we were told quite rudely that they are not associated with travel sites. We talked to staff the next morning to find out they were told the pool is in... More

Hotel is in an fairly good location, not down town but still "in town". However, the hotel is aged and for the rate per night, a continental breakfast should be included. Having said that, the rooms are very nice, dated but classy, large and airy with a mini-fridge and comfortable amenities for the traveller!

We booked on the ferry thinking we would stay a night before going to Quadra Island. We required s pet friendly room. It was $145 a night plus 15 for a pet. Omg the room smelled so bad and the bedding is from 30 years ago. The bed spread had a stain on it. Giant cracked floor in the bathroom.... More

We booked this hotel as it was close to the ferry terminal and mainly for the pool. .. PLEASE NOTE - there is no pool!!! Well there is a pool with water in it but you can't use it as it is being " repurposed". I wish I had known. I had two very disappointed kids. You would think When... More

The room we were allocated had a really awful smell of what appeared to be a mixture of stale sweat, damp and burned plastic. The three pillows looked as though they had been slept on before. The bedspread was stained and a folded piece of paper was found in the bed. I reported all this and was offered another room... More
