It was over $100 dollars for a tiny room with no air conditioning, right beside a noisy street. Pillows so large your neck feels like it will snap making them unusable. For $100 dollars you might think they would throw in some shampoo or soap to use in the tiny public showers. Nope that's an additional $5. Staff were friendly...

we are a family of three, two adults Nd late teen child. This was an excellent place for us to stay in one of the family rooms. Rooms were very clean, well maintained, and seemed to have been recently decorated and painted. The kitchen was clean, and the guests seemed to take their guidance from that and maintained it daily,...

The staff is very accommodating and helpful. They take time to meet your needs and are located in a quaint town. The beds are comfortable and the location is great if you need to catch the BC Ferries.

It's impossible to beat the price of this little guest house located blocks away from the Harbour, and right in the heart of the old downtown district! I've stayed here a number of times before, and some rooms are great, others are a little stuffy, but the staff is always friendly and helpful! All in all it's a great bang...

One of the worst hostels we've ever been to. Washrooms are very dirty, soap and paper towels weren't replaced for days altough the staff "cleaned" daily. Kitchen was also a bit messy and the "clean up after yourself"-system isn't really working. The walls are so thin that you hear your neighbour snoring at night as if you would stay in...

The painted turtle has all the qualities of a good hostel. With a delightful clean/cozy kitchen and hanging space, free wifi, laundry, and a clean shower it was a great stop as my boyfriend and I made our way down Vancouver Island on our bicycle tour. The area it's located is very cute too. With lots of food within walking...

The hostel itself was great. It was right downtown, offered fun things to do every night (we went tango dancing for free), and the kitchen, living room, and dorm room all were well furnished with very comfy beds (looked nicer than my own house!). The guests at the hostel, however, made me very uncomfortable being a young female traveler. The...

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our Property. I'am delighted that you like our Guesthouse, it is unfortunate however, that you had an uncomfortable experience. It is always a challenge to decide if a guest is the right fit for our accommodation type. Winter months can prove to be extra challenging. We are sorry that you...

I stayed here on a trip with 22 students and we loved it! The front desk was very helpful, the rooms were clean and the location was excellent! We like it so much we are staying here on another school trip and have extended our stay by an extra night so we can enjoy the Painted Turtle and the little...

Arrived at the front desk and was warmly greeted. Once checked in, we were given a tour of the hostel. Most hostels don't do this. We had a private room which was comfortable and clean. Plenty of washrooms and all were clean. Common areas looked more like the living room of an apartment. Small number of rooms so not loads...

Dear Nichola W, Thank you so much for your kind and honest opinion. We strive to set ourselves apart from other hostels, hence the name "Guesthouse". All rooms have new 5 star bedding, comfortable mattresses and towels are provided. Dorm rooms are kept small, to 4 people max. Unlike most hostels, the bathrooms are all private use. I am delighted...

We chose the Painted Turtle based on the many fantastic reviews reviews, only a few negative ones, that have been posted on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately, our experience was vastly different from what we expected and we were less than satisfied with the establishment. Firstly, I fully agree with other reviewers that wrote about the incredibly rude front desk staff and...
