The Urban hideaway guesthouse is probably the best place to stay when you're in Vancouver! Patrick is a great host and answers all your questions and prepares the best breakfast you could imagine! I booked 1 night first and decided to stay 3 more nights - I don't regret it at all! I hope to be back soon! Cheers Patrick!

Great staff that makes you feel like you are visiting a friend. I was only there for 1 night but Patrick, the owner, took care of me like I was is only client! It's a small and warm place, very welcoming and located right in the city center, close to Granville St. and all the theaters and bars. Would recommend...

We stayed for two nights in a double bedroom at the front with shared bathroom. Patrick's guesthouse has an excellent location couple of blocks from two metro stations. It's centrally located to downtown/city centre, the waterfront , historic gastown and chinatown. The room was comfortable with a private sink, comfy bed, fitted with tv and DVD player and we had...

Although this is listed on online search engines as a hostel, that doesn't do it justice. It's more of a bed-and-breakfast. My friend and I stayed here for two nights while traveling. The property is a historic rowhouse -- seemingly the last remaining one in the neighborhood -- flanked by modern buildings on both sides, hidden behind a yellow door...

This old house tucked away in the city centre has an amazing and rich history which Patrick the manager is more than happy to tell you all about. The guesthouse is warm and welcoming and the beds in the dorm room were some of the comfiest I've ever encountered travelling. Patrick is very interesting to talk to and extremely helpful...

Conveniently located to many of the sights and transportation hubs. We took the train from the airport and easily walked from the City Centre stop to the Guesthouse. It was also within easy walking distance to Canada Place, harbour front, and Gas Town. Buses to Granville Island and Stanley Park were also nearby. We bused to Granville Island and walked...

I was in Vancouver for an Anthropology conference in April (2016). Arriving with a graduate student's budget paired with backpacker's knowledge of the typical hostel experience, I was not confident that I would find affordable accommodation that was not crawling with the stereotypical capricious party types, let alone anything geographically close to the conference location (downtown at The Westin Bayshore)....

It is sad that I have to write this review. But the owner/manager is a bit shady. I originally made a reservation through hostels.com. I was intending to book a larger en suite bathroom and misbooked. I emailed the hostel directly and asked for them to check. he said to cancel the reservation with hostels.com and book directly with him....

A perfect place to escape the city rush, however conveniently located in downtown Vancouver. Our host, Patrick, is an amazing host, who was super nice to stay up late due to our delayed arrival and he provided me with all the helpful information on what to see in Vancouver in one day. Plenty of room choices, free & tasty breakfast,...

The Urban Hideaway is definitely an experience we will not forget. It's a cross between a B and B and a hostel, one without noisy travelers. The best kept secret is that it's CASH ONLY. This was very inconvenient for us as we can only withdraw a certain amount of money each day from the ATM which required several trips...

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
