Blond at the counter flirted with my man. None of the staff let me know I'd left my credit card at the counter, until I checked out, several days later. I always use cash or debit, so didn't realize my credit card was behind the counter for several days. Lack of professionalism. Rooms are SMALL. You WILL have a view...

I stayed in one of the older rooms. Great view and atmosphere. The hotel is a relic of old days gone by but ha lost nothing in simple comfort. Add to it the convenient downtown location within steps of Gas Town and China town, plus reasonable prices and you could ask no more. The staff were courteous and helpful, especially...

Look, the rooms are tiny and you should wear your flip-flops any time you touch the floor but the price is so right. The sheets were clean, room smelt good, slept well, hot shower. Bare bones. Staff were helpful and downtown Vancouver is semi-walkable from here. If you're traveling solo, it's perfection. If you're on a date, forget it. I...

For the price, amenities were excellent. Also the manager, Noor, was very informative in advising on the attractions and in fact made our short stay in Vancouver quite pleasant. Through his advise we were able to buy day passes which covered travelling on the sky train, sea bus and ground transport for the day. The hotel attendants are very polite...

The good: Staff is super friendly and helpful. Great with directions, advice, helping coordinate activities. Lindsay, at the front desk, was on her computer and making phone calls for me. Place is clean, 24 hour front desk security. Cute, cozy room with separate vanity and toilet for the old vintage feel (which I love). In the lobby there is an...

We stayed at this hotel in June and the experience was horrible. The room smelled very bad but this wasn't the biggest problem. The area is full of homeless people and drug addicts. I didn't feel safe walking from the bus stop to the hotel as some of these dodgy people were asking me for money or were looking at...

The hotel is located in east downtown a few minutes away walking from Gastown. Building is old but well maintained for its age. Staff is very nice and helpful. Only inconveniences is that East Hastings is an area that has a lot of homeless people. The area seems dangerous but is not really dangerous. You can walk avoiding Hastings and...

The room is basic and clean. Sure, it's an old hotel and in a louche neighborhood. If you're squeamish or finicky... but this place has more charm and character, and speaking of charm, Noor is an excellent host. He and the other guy handled multiple demands with ease and it was hot and sketchy outside, but I felt cool and...

Upon advising them of my late arrival, notwithstanding their check-in policy, they accommodated to my need. In spite of my early reservation, this locale complied to the word. That week-end, the city of Vancouver, BC, Canada was hosting 4 very important soccer games and all the hotels were packed. My reservation was for only one day and the following morning,...

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
