Clean and good value for Vancouver, I will definitely use this hotel again. All I ask for in a hotel is that is be clean, quite, affordable and no little biting things. You are a little out of the way for downtown however the busses are only a few blocks away.

I have stayed there around thirty times since 2005. It's a lovely, friendly, unpretentious place in exactly the right location. It's safe, secure, a bit like the United Nations and just cool. There is little that's glamorous and no lift but it's just plain nice.

The hotel rooms are spartan but the overall experience was terrific. Great bed, good television, great showers and free wi-fi that works. Plus the location cannot be beat. Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends and family.

The room was very clean, and the location was excellent. The only downside was no thermostat to control the radiator (we opened the windows and kept them open). Also, there is no elevator at this property. If you are looking for a low cost room just to sleep in during your stay, this is a great choice. We had a... More

the only thing lacking was a corkscrew! As suggested by the desk staff,I went to the restaurant downstairs and had my half bottle opened .AND was loaned a nice piece of stemware to take to my room and return the next day! Perfect!

I stayed in the private bath, queen bed room. Very clean and comfy. GREAT location. Basic accommodations with better hotel feel. I can't speak for the shared bath rooms, but it was fun to have a variety of people coming and going. The architecture and hallway interiors are old world, but the room felt modern, quiet and updated. I'll be... More

The location was great, the cost was great, lovely area. We wished we could have had breakfast there, but walked up to Robson and found a good place. The small size of the hotel was wonderful; the walk up made us a little breathless, being seniors, but the room felt cozy with a great view out into the quiet tree... More

The lounge needs a good clean and a bit refreshing it's dowdy and musty looking Change the frames on the historical photographs in the hallway to something more fancy and add more splashes of colour and elegance in rooms and bathrooms

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
