The Buchan Hotel is the perfect hotel. You can't beat it's price or location! The rooms were spacious and incredibly clean, as were the shared bathrooms. I look forward to staying here again and will be recommending to friends and family.

Excellent value for money in a great location. Rooms a bit tired (peeling paint, stained fixtures) but clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the big common room downstairs with tea, coffee, and newspapers. Place had a very friendly, homey feel.

Yes the rooms are a bit tired but the hotel is kept immaculate and it feels very homely. There is no lift but it is only 3 floors high. The staff are super friendly and there is constant supply of tea and coffee in the lounge. As it was below zero outside the hotel was always warm and welcoming. Shops...

Charming, character hotel in the West End. In a quiet street but within walking distance to everything: English Bay, Stanley Park, Robson street, shopping, dining, transit, etc. Basic but comfortable accommodation, and very clean, shared bathrooms. Staff was helpful, welcoming and friendly. Great value for the location. Will stay again.

This is my favourite area of Vancouver, and Buchan is discreetly part of it. More home than hotel, we are always delighted to unpack our bags here. Rooms are large, smartly decorated, and our loyalty always seems to be rewarded!

Love this location and hotel! I had to share the bathroom and not once did I have to wait on anyone and the water temperature and pressure was amazing!!! Each morning I saw the cleaning lady and rarely did I see other guest on my floor, so it was very private! To get here from the airport is fairly easy,...

Easy check-in, very friendly staff and simple, straight-forward, comfortable accommodation made for a wonderful visit to Vancouver's West End. A 5 minute walk to Denman Street, 10 minutes to Stanley Park and English Bay, wonderful!

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
