I spent a couple of nights at Ocean Island and ended up making several friends. The pub is a great place to hang out and meet people. Everyone was super-friendly, the rooms were clean, and the location worked for me. Even though I stayed in...More

We were disappointed with the room. They had crammed a double bed into a room that could accommodate a twin at best (ever heard of bunk beds?) And then charged an arm and a leg for it. The front desk was average. And the "clean...More

Thank you for your comments. It's true that some of our rooms are small, but we made them that way in order to keep prices down: a private room at Ocean Island costs significantly less than a standard room at a hotel.

Could not ask for more in an affordable hostel; great location, nicely kept place, friendly staff. Although our room had no real view and the walls paper thin to sound, we enjoyed our stay and found the staff exceedingly pleasant and helpful. My wife loved...More

2 nights here was good.
Lively bar and lounge, nice staff, clean place, well located and tons of useful info on Victoria & the Island (plus events and dining). All in all its a decent spot for a backpacker.

Thanks for your comments, and I agree with your room tip: the Standard Double with Bathroom has more space (and, of course, its own bathroom) so it's good for couples who want some privacy.

The neighborhood could definitely be described as shady but it's perfectly safe to come to and fro. I'm staying at the Inn right now while I'm working and never have any issues coming to and fro, nor has anybody I've known here. All in all I think your daughter will be just fine staying here, it's a great place with great staff!
Hope this helps:)

Hi there! There are a few options for parking for you. We do have a lost with five spots at the back of the building that you can rent for $10 per day. We've never had a break in before in this lot, and there is hostel windows facing directly towards it so often someone is watching. These spots however cannot be reserved in advance and are first come first serve. Alternatively- there is a lot only one small black away that is covered parking with security guards and cameras. This lot I believe is approx. $14 per day (or around that), and free from 6pm-9am and on Sundays/Holidays.
Hope this information helps, you can always call us if you have anymore questions.
Kind regards,
Jessie
