Had a 3 night stay, and it was OK, but nothing special. Room was pretty standard. Bathroom a bit dated as others have observed, but the bed was comfortable. Found an extra TV remote control behind the curtains which made me wonder how thorough the cleaning had been. Staff were friendly, pleasant lobby area, and the airport shuttle was well...

I stay over in Yellowknife at least four times a year. I've stayed at most of the hotels, and The Explorer is the best hotel there. The shuttle service is convenient, and the front desk staff have always been friendly (and helpful when needed). It is expensive - but everything in Yellowknife is. Eat at the restaurant if you can.

I just recently stayed at the Explorer Hotel the last 2 nights and the room was very average, the cleaning staff didn't clean the room any of the days I was there and I found hairs in the pillows and on the bathroom floor. The Bathroom is very out dated and in need of a Reno! The only good thing...

Went here with the family to catch the northern lights and decided to try the hotel that was classified as best in town. Location: Takes less then an hour to travel around the whole town so getting to the hotel was not hard. Close enough to shops and main malls! Room: The Room has all the standard equipment that you...

Rooms need a much needed updating. Rather stark and cold.....not very warm and inviting but there's not a lot of choices in this remote City. Service was good as was their cuisine. When you're the "best" in town....I think you could spend a little $$$$ to make it more attractive.

My sister and I stayed here for the annual Long John Jamboree and had the most amazing snowy getaway! It is conveniently located and our room had a beautiful view. This is the ONLY hotel I would stay at in Yellowknife! Clean, comfortable and reasonably priced.

Sunday Brunch was a treat and the service was prompt. For the North they shape up fairly well. Would be nice to have some outside space to eat, we went to another location to enjoy the summer heat and eat on their patio

Great hotel! Beautiful, quiet and clean Sunday offers an elaborate breakfast buffet. Beds are comfortable & the rooms are large & quiet with fridge, microwave and large TV Would absolutely stay again. Perfect distance from airport and great for short or longer overnights as lots of room to explore.

The hotel rooms were clean and spacious, the food was delicious, the staff very friendly, and the hotel was quiet. We met the chef at one point, and we complimented him on a menu that far surpassed our expectations. Bed had good heavy comforter. Also, there is a huge stuffed polar bear in the lobby that makes for great photos....

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel - 2 nights at the beginning of our trip and 1 night at the end. For Yellowknife if you are looking for a convenient, solid hotel - this is pretty much the go-to option. Pros --free airport shuttle to/from the hotel that runs regularly --location - across the street from the visitors center...
