This is a wonderful property with huge rooms. It is a little "faded" but is full of charm. The breakfast is amazing!!! Views are amazing!!! Great terraces to enjoy the long views of the wonderful countryside. The only drawback is the lack of a pool...Extremely affordable!!!

I was torn in writing about this place, as it qualifies as a "best kept secret" and of course I'd like to be able to stay in the future, and at the same kind of price point. In the end, I am overwhelmed by how wonderful the place was overall, that I just have to share. It is a 3... More

We recently stayed for a night at this Castello, and we look back at it with a smile. Even though we probably didn't have the nicest room (small), and even though we didn't like how the castle was restored in some areas (not so elegant, cheap), on a whole we very much enjoyed the experience. You can see the castle... More

I'm going to start with the negatives - there was no air conditioning in our room, there is no lift, there was a wedding during our stay so the restaurant was not available. BUT that did not matter at all. This hotel is perfect for a couple of nights relaxing in beautiful surroundings. Our room was on the top floor,... More

Stayed with a tour group. The service and rooms were excellent and spacious. Fantastic meals and a wonderful breakfast spread. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners. Great views from our private terrace.

Again, a fantastic stay in this gothic castle in the middle of the renowned Barolo region with the lovely hosts Giusy and Maurizio. The hotel is on a hill and surrounds the - in fall - foggy wineyards of the - in our eyes - best grape ever: Nebbiolo. Il Castello is well maintained and has a magic athmosphere. The... More

Stayed here as part of a tour group. Huge space inside and outside our room (balcony included). You do need to embrace the experience with the view that everything is "old" and antique. Along these lines, some taps and plugs in the ensuite did not quite function as expected, but this didn't worry us as it was a unique experience... More

What an amazing experience! We loved the atmosphere, the room, as others have said this is a restored castle so a bit quirky but just adds to the charm. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and it was magnificent. Spent the days touring the beautiful countryside and wandering in the village. Our last night there the... More

We spent 3 nights here in September 2014 for dinner bed and breakfast. The rooms are quite amazing; huge, with original looking furnishings, 4 poster beds etc. As other reviewers have said it is a bit like being in a fairytale. We were part of a walking group of 15 and were very well looked after. The views are fantastic... More
