This is my second time staying at a Le Germain hotel, but my first time at the Ottawa location. I love the modern feel of the hotel and the rooms. The bed and room furniture are comfortable and the little side table/desk are perfect for takeout meals. (The mini bar fridge works great for leftovers too!) The Nespresso coffee maker in the room is a nice feature, especially on wintery days.

One suggestion would be for a boot tray/mat in the room - it's Ottawa in the winter - this would be much better than boots on the tile!

The location is very walkable; it's a quick walk to Byward Market and just a little longer to Sparks Street and Parliament. It's very close to the Canal as well.

The staff were friendly and helpful. There's no Valet service right now, but we were able to park in the connected garage for $35 plus tax a day. It's a little pricey if you ask me, but worth it to avoid lugging a suitcase through the snow. They have a text service where you can simply text a request to the hotel staff for any items you need. This was a quick way to get extra Nespresso pods or glassware brought to the room.

There were two things that brought this review down. The connector to stream on the TV wasn't functioning properly for us. Considering this might be our cable, we requested another one from the hotel (iPad connector) and there was none available. We tried wireless streaming to the tv and that didn't work well either. We could have asked for someone to come to our room to try and fix it, but that's not a great option during Covid. Normally I wouldn't even care about this, but there are limited entertainment options these days and the ability to connect to the large screen tv matters.

My second concern was the noise from large trucks in the morning. We were on the 7th floor and it was loud! No need for a wake up call here.

I recommend speaking to the hotel when making a reservation and specifically requesting a quiet room.

It's been over a year since the whole family started pandemic sheltering. We decided to venture out after seeing Ottawa's COVID number was really low. We picked this hotel based on its brand reputation elsewhere. The building is actually a mixed use condominium & hotel. We loved our room with the two queen beds. It was very spacious. The standalone tub was a nice feature but I had to tighten its handheld shower wand as it was loose and leaking onto the floor. The automatic window blinds did not completely darken the room as other reviewers had pointed out. It only dimmed the room a lot. Perhaps the hotel could offer complimentary sleep masks to those who needed a very dark room. We didn't need that anyway with two kids who woke up early. The kids eventually discovered the gap in the door jamb which allowed them to peek through into the washroom. It was kind of funny. Sleep was restful in any case. The self parking with in-out privilege was great. We had no issue finding a spot but we went in the middle of the week. Just so others know, at this time, room cleaning was not automatically done for guests staying two nights or more. Location was excellent. Rideau Centre was just behind us and we could have walked to many other places. Checking out was as easy as leaving the room keys in the room since we were going directly to the parking lot. Otherwise, you'll need your keys to activate the elevator. We dropped off our room keys at the front desk after pulling out our car first. Our final total for a family of four, two nights, no minibar items, and a dinner at the hotel's restaurant came to just over $1200.

I have travelled around the world for pleasure and business and have come up to stay at many hotels that were incorrectly rated as a five star hotel. However this hotel is indeed a five star hotel because not only the building, the rooms and the authenticity of the comments but also the superlative service given by the management team is above and beyond any other hotel in the area.
The rooms are impeccable, quiet, sound proofed, gorgeous and the utmost comfort of most hotels I have stayed in. The beds, linen, towels and bath products in the room are all of the highest quality you can possibly have in a hotel. I highly recommend this hotel and the unbelievable staff that work their that bend over backwards to make your stay a memorable one. I myself will definitely be staying here when I come o Ottawa for business. Bravo to this hotel, I have stayed at other locations of this chain hotel and they are too very well established however the staff at this hotel especially the supervior go out of their way for you beyond what is a necessary requirement. Thank you so much for a wonderful perfect stay!

The hotel itself is very nice. Rooms are stylish and clean. The location is perfect. We weren’t pleased with the service though. Let’s start from their breakfast. They still serve you with a paper bag cold breakfast that includes a croissant, a juice box and a fruit for $17. At least that’s what they told us at the reception. Of course we didn’t take it. Their room service starts working only after 5pm. Housekeeping ends working very early so if you need anything it becomes a problem. I am a hot sleeper and hate warm heavy blankets. Usually in good hotels they always have a light blanket and spear bedsheets and pillows in the room. We didn’t find a spear blanket so we called the reception. The receptionist told us that the housekeeping ended working already (it was 7:30pm) and it will take him lots of effort and time to help us. In about 1.5 hours somebody knocked on our door and brought us a bedsheet. We explained that we need another blanket and he told us that we already have one on our bed. He started asking us why we need another blanket if we already have one and telling us that all blankets are in the room. The conversation lead nowhere and he told us that even if we’ll call back to the reception the reception will call him again. Long story short I ended up burning under their super warm down duvet even though we lowered the room temperature to 17. I travel a lot and stay in hotels all the time. It wouldn’t say that it was a terrible experience but I would recommend the hotel management to up their service level.

An AirBnb experience passed off as a four star hotel. The rooms, while new - and we stayed in a King Suite, are antiseptic, under stocked (one roll of toilet paper, no soap dishes for hand soap?, no dishes in the galley kitchen, no extra pillows, no room service to clean or take garbage or trays from the room, non functioning TV ( no apps on a new smart TV so not even Netflix nor would they allow you to cast to the TV - which was a huge new 75” Samsung… parking is unattended (they gave us an expired parking pass which made exiting impossible without another visit to the front desk) no concierge etc. If I wanted to stay in a 700$ per night AirBnB I would have booked one. If you want to stay in a great boutique hotel look elsewhere

Dear Tyler N, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. It is certain that we always strive to exceed expectations, though when we fall short it is important that we know what happened in order to maintain our high service standards. I was disappointed to read that you found the amenities in your suite to be lacking, as frankly we tend to receive rave reviews about the decor, layout, and presentation of the rooms from the vast majority of our Guests! However, we do understand that these aesthetics do come down to personal preference and opinions will of course vary. As we are still in a pandemic, we must ensure we are still taking precautions to keep both Guests and Team members safe and protected, and as such you are correct that daily room cleaning, as was natural before the pandemic, has been modified to keep us all safe. With that being said, we will absolutely take care of removing in room dining trays and garbage for our Guests whenever it is requested. We are also disappointed to read that you were not able to connect to the Chromecast device in your room, which allows you to stream apps, such as Netflix, from your device directly to the television. We will review with our Front Office team to ensure this information is shared with all of our Guests. Tyler N, if you ever plan a return visit to Ottawa and wish to give us a second chance please contact me directly at kshabsove@germainhotels.com as it would be my pleasure to personally assist you with your reservation and ensure you have a stay that is reflective of our Germain Hotels standards. Thank you again for sharing your experience with us, and I do hope to hear from you. Sincerely, Kayla Shabsove Guest Services Manager

We loved this hotel! The rooms are so well designed and laid out. The room also had great touches - a carafe for filtered water, wine glasses, corkscrew, nespresso, and the MOST comfortable bed, sheets, robes and slippers ever! We decided to not rent a car for the 4 days we were in Ottawa and we were able to use the courtesy car once to meet some family for breakfast in Nepean. The car was a brand new RX350, which definitely made me want to upgrade my 2015 RX :).

A unique design experience! The rooms feel part Nordic retreat, part man-cave. And are clean and well-appointed, with a fridge/minibar and Nespresso machine. With soft lighting and spa-type music playing when you enter the room, you are sure to feel relaxed and rather romantic. The front desk staff were helpful, but undermanned for a busy check in time with only one representative.
My particular room didn’t have a great view, but with electric blinds controlled by bedside buttons and Bluetooth speakers, does it really matter??? The huge soaker tub with provided spa products was the cherry on top! A must visit if you are in Ottawa and looking for a relaxing retreat or romantic getaway.

We spent two nights at Le Germain at the beginning of December. The hotel is clean, well decorated and in a great location, close to the ByMarket, Rideau Canal, Parliament and several restaurants / shops.

We chose an executive room, which was beautiful, clean and large. The bathroom has a large shower and a separate bath: the floor-to-ceiling window offers a beautiful view of the city.

Technically, we could communicate with the front desk by text (which is handy when we are outside the hotel), but that doesn't always work: better to use the classic method of the room phone.

The staff were courteous. They responded kindly to all our requests.

We highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again on our next visit to Ottawa.

The perfect boutique hotel: excellent location for excursions, restaurants, etc. I had stayed in the Quebec Le Germain and wanted an equally nice stay in Ottawa for our 30th Anniversary. The hotel was covid-conscious, quiet, clean and staff were friendly. Our room was lovely with top-notch bedding (which we will likely buy for our home!), the layout was wonderful, the automatic blinds were a bonus on the days we wanted to sleep a bit late. The rooms are so quiet (no loud air conditioner, elevator, ice machine noises). Breakfast was delivered each day on time with a nice selection of 2 croissants, fruit, cheese, yogurt, juice, jam. Also, Norco restaurant was fabulous. Definitely recommend Le Germain hotels.
