Lovely hotel that has the type of lobby that you know has seen a lot of Canadian history. The most dreamy beds that ensure a good rest. Glad to see that the pool has stayed true to its original Art Deco design. Also a note on the Cafe that is also a gift shop. Bought souvenir’s on both visits fantastic price points. My son loves his Stewart dog stuffy. He took Stewart to the Royal York last week for family day.

We have just returned from Ottawa, and the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, where we last stayed in July 2021, when FCL had just opened following a pandemic closure. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that there had been a sea change since then...and we suspect that new-as-of-November-2021 GM, Genevieve Dumas, is responsible. Alex at valet parking welcomed us with a smile and an efficient handover, despite the fact that we arrived at prime check in time. Mikaela - an intern! - was the first to greet us as we checked in and she was so friendly and so engaged and engaging (we witnessed this when at the desk or in the lobby throughout the stay - a breath of fresh air). When I enquired re. a gold member room upgrade (from the already booked Junior Suite), she immediately looked at stock and then asked Christian (front desk manager?) for advice. Christian came over and not only praised Mikaela for her proactive suggestion of room (love when managers ensure that the team members are commended), but made us feel very welcome as well (Christian had been very helpful last July when our stay was so surprisingly disappointing, and he had tried to make things right at the time). The room we were given - a stunningly situated suite in the west tower with perfect views of the Parliament Buildings, and the city beyond from the multiple windows - was PERFECT! Spacious, well appointed, with a separate living room, desk with a view, comfortable bathroom and multiple closets; 340 is a lovely space to stay in. During our wanders through the lobby, I was fortunate enough to meet Ms. Dumas, along with Stewart, FCL's canine ambassador, and the lovely Bello, newly-retired ambassador from Chateau Montebello (where we stayed last summer - love, love, love). This was when I realised who was responsible for the culture shift - Ms. Dumas was as welcoming and smiling as her team, and made me feel truly welcome, even as she and her companions headed out at the end of the day. That evening we enjoyed drinks at Zoe's where Fabiola and Katie made us feel so welcome (while I stuck to simple Bailey's, our son enjoyed the theatre and taste of the Statesman - as recommended by Katie). This morning, after seeing room attendant Ray and his lovely smile in the halls, we visited Wilfred's at 8am for a lovely and relaxing breakfast, with a team of hosts and staff who were as friendly and helpful as their desk counterparts (but clearly I had not had my morning coffee when I entered as I cannot recall names: female host's name started with A, male with M I believe, and our waitstaff with an R - terrible, apologies, as they really made for a lovely breakfast experience). As we left, we once again ran in to Ms. Dumas, Stewart and Bello - and her first words were "oh, look who it is" to the dogs - a true host who made us feel as if we were visiting friends - what incredible skill, and clearly recognised by the Fairmont leadership! At check out, Matthew was professional and friendly, while being so efficient with the process, while the lovely host in the lobby was quick to point us to smiling Gordon at valet, whose team had our car out within minutes of requesting it. I realise that I have been verbose, but we truly cannot get over how much Ms. Dumas' influence (which we saw at Montebello last summer) has so positively influenced the team at the Chateau Laurier. This experience will bring us back, and we encourage others to book with Fairmont Chateau Laurier when coming to Ottawa.

Great experience. This is my second time and first for my wife. We go to Toronto a lot and this time decided to stay closer to home. With just an hour drive we got to fairmont Chateau Laurier. Greeting was pleasant and check-in was fast. We got a upgraded room for free. Room and washroom was super clean. Food and cocktails at Zoeys was wonderful. We can't wait to do another staycation.

Dear Fairmont, Please do not raise the rate after reading this. After spending three days at the Chateau Laurier I remembered why I liked and what was so wonderful at the Chateau. The breakfast buffet was unlike anything I had ever seen at any other hotel. Of course the afternoon hors d'oeuvres like this I have never seen elsewhere. The staff were extraordinary with their ability to handle loud but entertaining drunks to the making the semi private little superbowl party happy. As for the rooms, mine was not the Charles Hayes Suite this time but with all the extras the regular rooms are more than adequate for just about anyone.

I am incredibly disappointed by the Chateau Laurier’s service and staff members. 👎🏻 We drove 2 hours all the way from Montréal to spent some quality time with family in Ottawa and have some tea. We left our car with the valet thinking it was safe and secure with the staff, unfortunately that wasn’t the case. They damaged our car and they didn’t want to take responsibility for it at all. In addition, they want us to tow remove the car parked in front of the hotel, now damaged by their valet staff member, and they want us to pay for the towing services. The issue here is that they could’ve been kinder and offered us some other service in exchange to the damage they caused. They could’ve been more sympathetic but instead they chose to be indifferent, unkind and insulting at some occasions. Some of the staff members should be ashamed and embarrassed by their behaviour. You know who you are! We live in Canada, a country where people are kind to one another, but Ottawa and especially Chateau Laurier wasn’t kind to us at all!

Initially, I loved the hotel and the staff. However, I injured myself on their property - fell down stairs and broke my right ankle - and the response, service, and care the hotel provided to me after the fact were not satisfactory or caring. While they did get me in a wheelchair to a cab, when I finally came back after staying in hospital with my two little kids for 14 hours, I got no assistance and zero offer to compensate me in any way for this horrible experience on their property. Instead, I was told they would use my feedback as a training tool. I expected more from such a grand hotel especially given the cost of staying there.

Staying at the Fairmont Château Laurier was like stepping back in time surrounded with modern comfort. We splurged on a King room on the Gold floor. The room was well appointed and the convenience of the exclusive Gold lounge elevated our winter Ottawa getaway to perfection.

If you get offered room 604 as a Corner suite don’t accept it. 638 is better as a Corner Suite. And avoid the afternoon tea its a bit of a ripoff but otherwise Zoes is good I don’t have more to add except that I won’t return after paying $$$ and getting 604 as one of my two rooms

I wanted to take a moment to share some feedback from our recent stay at your property. Firstly, I must commend your team for the warm welcome and efficient check-in process upon our arrival. Our room, boasting two double beds and offering a stunning view of the city and the picturesque fall scene of the Rideau Canal, was indeed spacious and comfortable. The presence of two bathrooms, each with a shower, was a pleasant surprise and added convenience to our stay. Exploring the hotel and its surroundings was a delight. The gallery, both indoors and outdoors, provided fascinating insights into the history of the area, and we thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the rich heritage of the Rideau Canal. Your hotel's amenities, including the indoor pool and gym, were well-maintained and contributed to a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Additionally, the thoughtful birthday amenity for my hubby was a kind gesture that did not go unnoticed. Due to our brief one-night stay and the unavailability of a reservation, we were unable to dine there. However, this gives us all the more reason to return in the future and indulge in the culinary delights your establishment has to offer. In conclusion, we would like to express our gratitude for the hospitality extended to us during our time at your hotel. Despite the minor setbacks, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and appreciate the efforts of your dedicated team. We look forward to the possibility of returning in the future and experiencing all that Fairmont Chateau Laurier has to offer.
